It has more leg room than the other buses going that route and the difference of 2 dollars or so wont kill you.

You can get a cambodian visa at US 26 total cost online and save a full passport page. google for cambodia and evisa.

When crossing into Cambodia a Poipet people will try to sell you anything in the line of bus seats to Siem Reap. 10 US - 15 US should be plenty. I did it for 6 with a little like.

I worthwhile alternative might be this. Go only to Sisophon (sway). Stay overnite, if you into the rough wild of Cambodia, have a look at the railroad track scene there. Very scenic.

Next morning take a motobike at to Bantey Chmar Temple (5 US entrance fee) and see another temple some 5 km before. The main temple is a gem and huge. Not second to the reliefs at Angkor. You come back in the early afternoon and can get to Siem Reap in time.

The road to Bantey Chmar is pretty good and 10 US return should do the trick. Food is avaible at the temple as are drinks/coffee (small village and clean food).
THe temple is a good choice if you like to see more of Cambodia as opposed to the tourist craze at Siem Reap.

well - it's like this: to get from Grungthep to Cambodia (Siem Riep) is an all day thing - leave 7 or 8, get in about 6 or so by bus/train/taxi etc

Fly - 1 hour but costs a lot more (about 3X or 2X as much) - maybe 3000B versus $30 or so by ground trans.

Depends on how much your time is worth. I'll tell you that the trip overland back from PP to BKK took 15 hours and cost $31 10 days ago. Flying would have been $97 so was 13 hours (it would have taken 1 hour to get from near the central market to the airport at a cost of about $5 or so) worth $70? (includes the taxi to the airport)

Where are flights available to Siem Reap for 3000 baht? From where? Which airline? Thats a lot cheaper than it has been in the past.

Riding in the back of a pickup truck to Siem Reap would have to be about one of the most unpleasant things a person could possibly do in Southeast Asia. I guess being eaten alive by crocodiles would top it. Not by much tho.

I did that trip in a car once. Never again. At 3000 baht a flight, if thats right, you'd be nuts to not fly.

PP-Koh Kong - 6.5 hours (1 hour to just get out of PP)

It's still better to fly to PP and bus north to SR than to go all overland

its been well over a year since i ventured to los. i managed to squeeze a 2 day layover and decided to avoid the stress of bkk and head to pattaya during low season so focus completely on mongering. with only 2 days i had to choose between the beer bar culture (more work, cheaper, more gf but somewhat riskier) or instant gratification. as you can see i chose the latter. i chose secrets as my 2 day home and even chose their cab service to get me there straight away. i actually was thinking of getting one of those luxury vans including 2 girls for the ride down. it’s just hard to justify $200+ for a cab ride for 1.5 hours.

First time to Pattaya. I stayed at Secrets Hotel, largely because it is so close to Walking Street. I thought it might be like some short-time or love-hotel dive, but it’s a nice little hotel. Very well placed. The bar itself is ace too. Very good for the first time visitor. It’s not the best idea to BF one of the girls from the bar, then bring girls back to your room from other gogos on subsequent nights. Well I got a few nasty looks for it anyway.

I didn’t venture too far from walking street but here’s my thoughts: I liked Baby Dolls the best, because the girls in here were the most fun. On Walking Street you will find touts with cards trying to get you to follow them to a bar with live sex shows and lesbian shows. With bars closing and reopening regularly, I do not know the current names of bars with shows.

However in my experience, there was NEVER any cover charge for shows, (this being the exclusive reserve of the Patpong upstairs bars, Normal go-go bar prices should prevail
