Planned a trip during the second week of May 10-15, but the forecast (& Mr gogo) are saying it's all thunderstorms. It's my first time to the DR. Have read the entire forum on BB; much thanks to the veteran members for the info. Was wondering if anyone knows from experience, will the lineup be weak in quality bc of the inclimate weather? Also, is the island itself boring when it rains every day?

I look at the online weather sites for Pto Pta every day and they are very unreliable. The proximity of Mount Isabel means Pto Pta has its own micro-climate.
2) Unless a named tropical storm is nearby, rainstorms rarely last more than an hour or two. And it is not the tropical storm season until September.
3) You have posted in the Blackbeards section. If that is where you are staying the weather will hardly affect you as you will be shaded and sheltered.
4) Weather will not affect the availability of chicas whatsoever.
5) Weather will not affect how boring the island is. If you have read the posts here as you say, you will know that some people think the island is always boringl while others think it is always a carnival. In fact their views tell us more about those individuals than about the island. If this is your first visit to the DR and you already worry about being bored, there is something wrong with you.
6) Concentrate on spending your money in the most effective way, and on physically protecting it and your belongings. Do not worry about the weather. The only exceptions might be if you are a keen diver or sailor, which would be weather-sensitive. But in those cases, why would you stay at Blackbeards?

My girls that live there have been complaining about it raining for the last week. When it rains regularly the girls like to stay inside and play, usually at a discount. I think rain affects the girls getting clients more than it hurts us getting pussy.
You may need to make an appointment if you have particular chica in mind.

I've often observed chicas arriving on a motoconcho with a shower cap protecting their hair. I would also suggest taking along a compact collapsible umbrella for emergencies, or even just getting from your room to the covered bar area. (When leaving, put them in the checked baggage, as I once had one confiscated by security on departure. Some BS about it being metal). On boredom and rain, its about the same as being in Florida during a summer downpour. Use the opportunity to kick back under cover with a beer and a cigar. Of course any outdoor activities (beach, etc) would be affected, but that is universal.

I never plan to return. There is nothing wrong with the place but Sosua gives you way more options. The women there speak enough english to conduct business trust me. At BB you had to wait for the chica you wanted. The girls at BB are hit or miss no better looking then the girls on the Sosua streets. BB has some advantages. You will not get a scam queen and the price is consistent. The day may come when I need BB. Sosua has more option in hotels, food and a great beach.

For a first timer, BB is a good choice. There is quality control (thieves, druggies, scam artists, drama queens get banned) and there is a place to take complaints if there are any. Also monthly health checks; not perfect, but way better than nothing, - which is the case on the streets.
Likewise, it depends on you. There are those who want to show their "game" and enjoy "the hunt. " That's fine. I never had the time or patience for that process. My Spanish is very good, but when I take a trip, my time is limited. No time for games or "the hunt. " I preferred to make maximum use of limited time down there.
There are guys who enjoy "fishing. " They enjoy the process of finding and landing their "catch" so spending a few hours "landing one" is part of the fun. If I lived there full time, that would be great. But if I only have a few days, I'd rather spend my time "enjoying seafood" than catching it. Hence, I always enjoyed BB.
(There is room under the sun for all tastes, so there is no "right" or "wrong" way to do it. Its your vacation, so do what YOU enjoy most.

Maybe I can put syringes in safe, but again not sure how secure that is. Any opinions on safety of such items or advice would be great.

The safe would be a good place for your syringes. Of course, the maids have access to the mini-fridge, but they have access to the whole room, and I have never experienced a theft there. To prevent any problems or confusion, suggest you coordinate with the management. They can offer a more definitive solution. Perhaps offering to store the meds for you, or, perhaps instructing the maids that your medication is not to be disturbed. The notion of a maid risking her livelihood to steal medication is pretty unlikely. No market for insulin that I know of. Try emailing the management to discuss it.
