It's a complete rip off place. They're tricking around people that they're offering sex but it means striptease show and when you want your money back they are rudely behaving.

I had a bit of a bad experience recently at the Labi shop at 22 Elizabetes iela. For anyone who doesn't know, Labi is a chain of sex shops around Riga that offer private rooms in the back. There are usually a few photos of women by the front cash telling you who is available. I had never been there before because it seemed a bit touristy, and it is always easier to go to an apartment.

Well, I decided to give Labi a try... Mistake! The only reason I tried was because there was a photo of a truly gorgeous young brunette at the front cash. My kind of woman! 18-21y.o., tall, lean, long hair, and pretty face. I asked how much it was for an hour and was told 30 Lats. Seemed reasonable, but to be sure I asked straight out "Is this full service?". The woman at the cash spoke good English and said "Yes, full service". So, no confusion, right?

Wrong! I have to admit the first few minutes with my young brunette companion were pretty great! She got fully nude and did a full body rub. After about 10 minutes she started in on a hand job. This seemed to go on for too long and I finally had to urge her for oral. And this is where it goes downhill. She puts on this bad actress kind of expression and said "What do you think I am?". As if to imply that offering sex is soooo far beneath a fully nude body rubs and hand jobs.

Not to be a jerk, or cause a scene I just went along and let her finish me off manually... I had never been a victim to that time old scam before. But it was only 30 Lats. Not the end of the world! The only part that bugs me about it is that I really wanted to fuck her! I like knowing what I'm getting before I commit to a deal. She was a top quality looker.

Don't make the same mistake fellow mongers! Avoid Labi shops and stick with the apartments. You can always turn around and leave if you don't like the girls they offer.

Pick up any of those tourist magazines or the Russian version of "Reklama" (The Latvian version is light on escorts, and most pros are Russian anyway). In the back pages there are dozens, if not hundreds of ads. Price ranges anywhere from 15 to 60 Lats per hour. Obviously the more you pay the better looking the woman will be. 15 Lats doesn't get you much these days... The price has been going up over the past few years. In 2001, the first time I visited Riga, a beautiful fit 20 year old would ask for 15-20 Lats and give great service! Today, 30 Lats will get you a decent 25 year old. 40-60 Lats will get you the hot young things. It is a bit sad that the Baltics have become such a touristy place. I liked it more then when it still had its post-Soviet feel to it.

The nice part about Riga, is that most apartments are within walking distance from the old town. So you won't be spending a lot extra on taxi rides. It is easy to find your way around.

I visited Riga last week. First I went to a massage salon, 40 lats for handjob from a beautyful russian blond, not bad.

I was one time in LABI last year and it was clear for me: Only massage, only handjob in one hour. So i dont ask the desk lady about other things.

Maybe the desk lady understand you wrong.

But when they offer massage, its massage, when its total service, then maybe she means the girl is complete undressed. Thats also not standard for every massage shop.

I suggest you read all the reports on here and also trip advisor Riga, it gives you a good insight. I am going to Riga 18th May on my own and looking for a good time but get the info of other travellers, their is enough info reading the reports to get a good idea.

Just back from a trip to Riga.

Here is my two cents worth.

Arrived late at night on low cost flight (wondering whether it was worth the cheap price to put up with a planeload of stagdo's with the manners of idiots).

The Airport is small but clean and very easy to find a taxi, the red cabs seem good value paid 7lats on way into city and 8 on way out, its great not to get ripped off by the taxi mafia on the first night!

Anyway arrived at my hotel and headed out to see what fun the night would bring. The Riga this week magazine in the hotel room has a good map and several ads for discos clubs and massage joints.

I made for the Old Town and must say that Riga is a beautiful city with well laid out public parks and quite similar to Tallinn.

Approaching the the Old town you can't help but see stunners left right and center 7's 8's and 9's strolling around with that east europe grace, hot pants and high heels.

Went into a couple of bars in the center and had a couple of beers and then headed into the Roxy Disco ignoring the pleas of several touts offering the strip bars and nightclubs.

Roxy was not great with poor doorstaff and not so much hot chicks so we bailed and headed next to La Rocca which seems to be the most popular local disco. Entrance was about 5lats but the eyecandy wass well worth and the place was full of students and a great vibe. There are several dance floors with a russian disco in one part (warning watered down drink) and a expensive topless bar on the third level. This placee stays open until about 5. 30 am or 6 and was pretty cool, it is a bit of a young crowd but I think if its freebies you are looking for its the best bet for Riga.

The next night we got pretty smashed and ended up committting the prime nono of mongering (Getting into a taxi and tellingthe driver the bring us to a good nightclub).

Kleopatra's: A very apt name as this place made me feel like Mark Anthony I. E. Suicidal ripoff, waterdown drinks, the hardsell ladydrink scam, the hardluck stories from the girls and very very littleaction in the backroom 10min private dance 40lats! AVOID!

After we got out of this pit we made for Voodoo based in the Reval hotel reckoning we had best get all the fleecing out of the way that night (voodoo has been described in some forums as a russian mafia ripoff joint)

I have to say that it was not that bad, when we got there at 4 in the morning the bouncer agreed with that paying the entrance fee at that hour should not have to be paid and let us in. The club dancers were pretty hot and energetic, the girls behind the bar were lively and the place was full of pros or semipro's who I'm sure would have been more than happy to go back to my hotel, but been rather drunk we decided not avail that night.

Next night went back to La Rocca and hooked up with a girl called Elena who works in a department store 100lats all night little raver! And a really nice girl about a 7. 5

I tried Ladyland massage during one of the days 50 lats for a hour of decnt topless massage and a handjob with I have to say a very hot hardbody girl about a 8 but its not worth it.

All in all I would say that Riga is a great place to visit but the stripbars are there just to ripoff the stagparties, I think the best place to score is the local discos and as for escort services I think the next time I go I give escort-latvia a try as when you add up the cost of stripclub prices the charges of escort-latvia don't seem that bad.

Sorry I haven't had time to report back on my Riga trip, been rather busy but here goes.

I was in Riga for 2 nights for a business meeting, well one and a half nights bearing in mind that my return flight was at 0700 thus the 2nd night I didn't venture out and chose to utilise a well stocked minibar.

By now it was about 2300 so a while later I went to Roxy Club and sat up in the seating area, I had noticed 2 girls paying attention to me and after maybe 30 minutes they came and sat with me. Well it was really entertaining, we were sitting chatting and laughing and and somewhere around 0200 in the morning we went across the road to Double Coffee.
