Yesterday I discussed with one of ex-xiao jie of World plaza B2 (she quit 2 months ago). She was still in link with some girls and gave me the real story.
The cops went there, fined the customers 20000 to 30000 rmb, took the girls (probably at least few days to jail before sending them back home. This is unsure I'll keep investigating), and they closed down the place.
I tried to call the ex mamasan but impossible to get hold of her.
Well, not sure the place will re-open in the future.

I am in contact with some of ex of WP, there is one (ex #19 from WP, maybe you know her? ) who is very concerned with the news, can't believe the mamasan did that. She is asking if you can tell her which girls were caught? The girls numbers? The ones you know were among the 20.
I know 1 who was caught but she is still under the shock and does not like to discuss too much about the details, she did not even tell me the mamasan did that!

They have been BEATEN badly in the jail (I am not sure whether every one was beaten and why. But MY GIRL was beaten badly, this is for sure).

Even though the girls I talked to truly believe that the Mamasan took all their money and belongings, it could be a speculation. The facts are:
1. Mamasan was the only person escaped the raid by hiding inside the large projection TV in one of the room (you may remember this huge TV in one of the "resting" rooms). One of the girls saw her hiding there. All others, including servants, receptionist, etc, were all caught and jailed.
2. When they were released and came back to B2, all their safety deposit boxes were broken open and all their money and belongings were gone. This is very painful since on the day of raid, the girls just got their wage paid. So every girl has at least RMB 20k to 30k in the box, some girls even much more.
3. The Mamasan was gone also and cannot be reached by any one and by any of her normal contact ways.
So I think it is understandable that the girls believe Mamasan took their money. But I think it is also possible that Mamasan ran after the police left and later, other people came and stole all the money.
The Mamasan will certainly hide herself since she will be jailed for a long long time (not only 15 days) if she got caught. So her hiding is certainly not a proof that she stole the money.

1. Enforcement authorities can demonstrate to their higher-ups that they are taking decisive action. They can point to B2's closure, with associated arrests, fines, and jail time as proof positive. This action is aligned with the Central Government's China-wide crackdown around the [url=http://isgprohibitedwords.info?CodeWord=CodeWord908][CodeWord908][/url] issue. (Coincidentally, April 9, the day of the raid, was the day before Good Friday, and Easter Weekend.)
2. Sends a signal to WGs and customers alike that real action is possible. Especially if you're in a location where authorities can walk in the front door, take three steps into the locker room, five steps to the changing area, do a right face and head to the main area. Within one minute – or less – authorities can be through the front door and knocking on massage rooms. My point: B2 was an easy target, compared to other venues where you've got to take elevators four or five floors to get to the lobby, 'run the gauntlet' through locker rooms and changing areas filled with floor attendants, and pass through a maze of confusing hallways to get to the massage rooms.
3. It cleans up this stretch of Century Avenue / Pudong Nan Lu underground subway area in advance of the 2010 World Expo where many foreigners could be walking by. Recently, there have been extensive renovations on both B1 and B2 levels of the subway concourse that cross over form Century Avenue toward and under World Plaza. Several new shops have opened, and others are being renovated and should open soon. Directly across from the B2 entrance, there's a very large area that has been recently remodeled. It stands to reason that planners would want an establishment in B2's location that's more fitting with other shops in the area. The subtext here is visibility: B2 was simply in a 'too visible' location. That's also true for many of the 'serious' street massage places. Think: out of sight…out of mind as a better way to go.
4. It drives more business into Sacrosa, which is nearby, and 'out of sight…out of mind'. Since business is somewhat slow, closing B2 simply drives more revenue into Sacrosa. Again, when times are slow, and Sacrosa has a RMB 550 deal before 7:00 pm, do you really need two saunas within one block of each other? And, again, out of sight, out of mind. The average 2010 Expo tourist will not stumble upon Sacrosa.

I am back in SH after a few months and what must I read: my favorite B2 closed down by police? some of the nice girls i never see again?
But more importantly worries me the thought that ALL places are now getting raided systematically. Can anybody confirm that? So SH was at least closed for one night and Peacock still is? Sacrosa doing fine? I thought as long as the Saunas payed their "bills" they were still safe...

They only receive salary by week, so way below this amount.

Thought I would give CL another try. Picked one at random, L**g L**g in her ad. Made the call, knock on the door 40 minutes later. Of course the girl wasn’t the girl in the ad. Applecrate, most of your points raised are correct. I have several friends and business partners who are either government officials or are acquainted to some, and all confirmed that from now on and until the Expo is over the crackdowns will be more frequent and widespread in Shanghai.
According to my well informed source, every time a high official from the Beijing CCCP comes to town, crackdowns will happen either the day before up to several days in advance.
Normally the places more at risk are the ones on the route (and vicinity) where the Official will travel. The local government will want to 'clean-up' those section to give away a good impression.
Also, I'm told, that most of the Pudong high traffic areas next to the Expo will be completely 'cleaned up' in anticipation of the large amount of tourist influx.
Last Tuesday, one of such visits happened, and the tell tale is a flurry of police officers stationed at every intersection and surrounding of the designated route. That means that at some point they will re-route traffic to allow a smooth transit of the official.
This will only become more and more frequent, as many more CCCP politicians will visit Shanghai and the progression of the Expo works.
Unfortunately Saunas, BBS's and all those places that aren't strictly 'legit' are at highest risk. Of course it has been explained to me that if any of these owners have high enough connections they will get a warning ahead of time and shut the business voluntarily until it is safe to re-open, usually with the excuse of a broken pipe or remodeling
Before, during and right after these periods it is best to take a rest and avoid any mongering in places at risk. How can you tell if a place is at risk? Like Applecrate pointed out, any Sauna or BBS strip/shop on a major artery (or vicinity) is at high risk, the ones that are hard to find and out of sight might be spared. Also, the ones on the fringes of the city and not easily accessible (too far) for your average tourist will be probably safe.
Interestingly, the same day (Tuesday night) that the CCCP official was in town, I happened to be with 2 local gov. Officials and other friends at a mid-high-end strip-KTV place (downtown). As a precaution all the stripping and 'games' were banned that day and for the rest of the week. The word is that from now on and until the Expo is over, KTV's seem to be the 'safer' places in town to meet girls. Many of them have 'take-out', which isn't a bad option considering that you spend at least a couple of hours getting to 'know' the girl. Obviously, it is a tedious process when one wants a quick fix, but in hard times like these, it is something to consider.
Lastly, the reason why KTV's are immune to raids is that they are the favorite 'past time' and business playground of most Chinese business men and the majority of government officials. I just wonder if we're giving too much away to LE by posting here? They're wise to block normal access to the site, why should they not be wise to comb it for intelligence?
Especially for places such as B2 that had become a staple of resident and visiting Lao Wais, and probably because of that less indispensable to local mongers?
Please get me right, I'm not advocating to stop posting altogether, but I have a feeling that we, B2 customers & posters, might have precipitated things (linked to poor or deteriorated connections to LE by B2 owners)....
