Canada's national law, known as see-36, makes prostitution illegal, which is the exchange of sex for money. That is different than the purchase of time and companionship.

However, a provision of the law exempts from prosecution the seller of sex, and exempts from prosecution the assistants to the seller of sex who did services at her request, including security. That broad exemption likely covers escort services.

Most importantly, after the examination of the national law known as see-36, the police departments of Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver announced that they would view the exchange of sex for money as the lowest possible priority for arrests if such transaction involved consenting adults with no acts of force or coercion, and obviously no minors.

Although the police prioritization policy only covers those cities, it is useful to note that the one police ' prosecution activity against an agency in a suburb of Toronto resulted in a court decision that arguably held the new law to be unconstitutional. But the court chose to limit its ruling to the province of Ontario.

The bottom line is that Canada's much publicized Nordic Model has had little or no real consequence. You can book an independent or agency escort without law enforcement concerns. That having been said, Border Patrol in Canada are national police, and not everyone in Canada, including those who came from the much more conservative and religious prairie towns and villages liked the Great Fuck You that was extended by the police departments of Montreal, Toronto and Vancouver to the national government.
