Lets say you can afford a 5 star clean hotel, your room will be safe from any viruses, and you have your bathroom available anytime. You can't get this environment at a red light district. Plus in Istanbul you can run into scams and other games as a foreigner (like those bars that cheat tourists). For your own safety and that of the person meeting you, going to a hotel is the ideal way to go in Turkey.

Just a tip for anyone who can afford a 5* hotel, there is one on Asia side, a world that rhyms with carpark is the avm and is owned by a socialites family on asian side, So lift needs card, however two entrances, one from front of hotel however you must go up to ground from entrance or actually the restaitant leval in the avm has a direct walk path into lift with no checks apart from room card to access the path way. So what I did was meet outside walk around through the avm / mall could see they would be security checked and then walk through to lift and straight to room, on way out, I would say just hit the button for the mall to get out as oppose to needing to go through main door!
