I had a big trip planned with my ex-esposa. We were supposed to drive Route 66 for the second time, this time in the reverse direction from the Santa Monica Pier in California to the shore of Lake Michigan in Chicago.

I called it off yesterday because she's not ready. She will always be a great friend. Well, the Route 66 trip, jury duty, and filing my federal income taxes were the three reasons I returned here to Pussy Prison. All three finished. So I am already strategizing my return to Medellin. There has been no let-up communicating with my girls. But as we have all learned, making plans ahead of time for Medellin is often an exercise in futility. Still, some potentially interesting options appear to be forming themselves. I will try to maintain the Buddhist philosophy of avoiding all desire, again especially ahead of time. There are a couple of rainy seasons every year in Medellin. Compared to Thailand or India they are nothing. More like an average September day on the Gulf side of Florida, where I grew up. For the vast majority of us, mongering is an indoor sport and fairly weather proof.

But by all means, spread the word, stay away from Medellin because of the weather, sometimes I heard it even rains frogs, jeje. I think we are expecting a plague of locusts and day now.

Decreased demand (one-eyed wonder worms), with same or increased supply (wet holes, preferably living TK) will drive down prices, my brothers in hijinx.

I am a digital nomad and have been hanging out more in Guadalajara due to its better weather of sunlight and comparable warmth.

You may be onto something.[/QUOTE]Rain isn't really an issue in Medellin, but air contamination, and in previous years, prior to the Pandemic, the City would instigate pico / placa, which is currently in effect to reduce traffic during rush hours, but has also been used to reduce air contamination in the past.

Additionally, the way they refine gas in Colombia s not on par as it is in the USA, hence lower gasoline prices, but higher emission levels.

I can remember before the Pandemic, about three or four years ago in a February, that the air contamination was so bad that besides restricting vehicles on the road, all of the public sporting facilities were locked down for days at a time.

Rain in Medellin is always a good thing to help clean the air, yet at times can be a pain in the ass.

I always carry an umbrella with me, as the weather can change within a few minutes.

And if your in an apartment and forget to close all the windows when you leave, you can have a real mess on your hands.

I have been all over the world, and Medellin does indeed have some of the absolute best weather of any place I have ever been. No idea what "SunDevil" is talking about. That name makes me think of Arizona. If that's the comparison, then Arizona is too fucking hot! Medellin is about as good as it gets year round, and Bogota isn't bad either!

I recommend you know the price you are going to pay. I quote them my price and expectations with taxi included. I don't negotiate. If they say no I just thank them for their time and go on to the next candidate. Most will accept my terms

If she is hoping for 500 k and I offer 200 k, we're off to a bad start. Instead, if she leads with 500 k, I can keep us on good terms by showing my understanding, and admitting I'm not interested in paying that much. My reply goes something like this:

Te entiendo. Eres muy hermosa. Pero siempre pago 200 mil. Quizas otro da. I understand you. You're very beautiful. However, I always pay 200 k. Maybe some other day.

Depending on how I'm feeling at the moment, I might offer a different amount. This has some advantages (or so I believe). First, you're acknowledging her price and tossing a compliment. Second, you're letting her know, politely, you know the going rate. Finally, you're letting her know that if she can't find anyone to pay 500 k, she can always hit you up for 200 k. If she decides to take your offer, she might ask for you to cover the taxi.

One last thing. When I'm setting a time, I assume she'll be late. I start by asking when she can arrive. There's no sense in telling her to show up at 4 pm if she's unable to leave home until 6 pm. A vax card with 2 shots (Pfizer) worked for me to leave US and fly to MDE.

I had a negative PCR text (taken within 72 hours), not necessary, just as a backup provision.

The airport taxi driver (white and blue car) charged me 100 k mil to arrive from airport to El Poblado (I think he ripped me off because I have never paid more than 70 k or 80 k).

Uber sucks right now for getting around in MDE (couldn't get an Uber to pick me up for 20 minutes). I'm going to try DiDi, since I've heard good things.

The actual Park at Parque Lleras is still under construction. They are working super slow on the project. It will be nice once it's complete, but everything moves slow in Colombia and people here are lazy.

Went to Gustos. There were about 15 working girls. Most of them had fake butts and expensive purses, so I figured the services they offered would be high priced. I didn't even bother to ask how much because only one of them peaked my interest and she was already with a client for the night.

Just ended up walking the streets near Parque Lleras and found a spinner. Not sure what a good negotiable price is for a cute streetwalker is in this area, but I'm comfortable with the price I paid as it was likely 20% the cost of what one of those worn out Gustos girls would have tried to quote me.

Most places in the US have a "best time to be there" Some places it's summer, some places it's winter, some places it's spring and fall. Medellin has all around great weather and it's consistent. I too have travelled all over and I can't think of any place that compares favorably.

The first is that I make an estimate of what the girl's price will be before I contact her. Then I decide if that price is acceptable based on my opinion of her. Let's say I figure she'll be happy with 400 k, but I only think she's worth 200 k. In that case, I'm not going to bother. It's the same thing when I go buy a new car. I know what the price range of each model is. Do I want a $50 k car or a $25 k car? If I'm only spending $25 k, I'm not wasting anyone's time test driving the $50 k model. Occasionally it works to my advantage. I'll see one I think is worth 300 k and she tells me 200 k. The point is, I'll pay more or less depending on what I'm getting.

The other point is that I'm not going to quibble over a few dollars. If I'm at 200 k, but she wants me to pay her taxi, I'll agree. Sometimes I'll throw in extra conditions to justify the higher price. I remember a 3 some, the girl setting it up wanted 400 k, I wanted to pay 300 k. I agreed, but required a minimum of 3 hours and I got both girls to sign off on what all would happen. None of that tag team crap.
