You just stated you live in Envigado. Envigado is it's own city, located inside the Medellin metropolitan area, but outside of the Medellin city limits.

When you frequently post about El Centro, then complain about the weather in Medellin, but you're actually complaining about the weather in Envigado, it clarifies that you aren't in Medellin, and certainly presents the appearance of someone who is unfamiliar with the local weather.

Chances are, while it's raining in the part of Envigado you mistakenly chose to live in, elsewhere in Envigado the weather is quite nice, and it's downright balmy in El Centro.

If you're from somewhere where the longest daylight period is 14 hours then you're also from a place where the shortest daylight period is 10 hours. That puts it at the 30th parallel, on the same line as Houston, Texas.

Unfortunately, the average daily high and low temperatures are about as useless as a condom dispenser in a convent. For example, Houston has an average daytime temperature of 78°F, with the average nighttime temp dropping to 60°, so it's just a bit colder than Medellin. Correct?

Nope. In Houston, the hottest month averages 91°F for a high, with 99 days per year over 90°, along with 18 days per year with temperature at or below 32°F. Record high and low were 108°F and 5°F.

For comparison, the hottest month in Medellin averages 83°F for a high. The coldest month averages 80°F for a high. The low temperature average for the coldest months is 63°F, raising to a blistering 64°F in the hottest months. Record high and low are 95°F and 50°F.

Name a location, within 30 minutes of latitude of the 30th parallel (north), which has monthly average high temperatures which vary by less than 30°F, and a monthly low temperatures which vary by less than 15°F, with a high to low range of 40°and I'll gladly accept that where you are from has a reasonably acceptable climate. I'm being generous. The range in Medellin is 3°, 1° and 20° respectively.

However, with regards to temperature range, over the entire year, you won't find any place outside of the tropics with more minutes within 10°F of normal comfortable temperature for humans, which is 70°F.

Yes, it rains a lot in Medellin. A 1 hour flight away is the world's largest rain forest. If it didn't rain a lot it would be a complete nightmare. No trees, very little greenery, much worse air quality, dust storms, much higher high temperatures and much lower low temperatures. Worst of all, almost the entire city wouldn't exist. 5 million people can't survive in an area that doesn't have any water.

Here's a suggestion:

If you think the climate in Medellin is so terrible, go somewhere else. Instead of crying like a school girl who broke her favorite crayon, about something you can't change, pack your bags, act like an adult and change your location to one which better suits you. If you're only there because it's one of the few places in the world where you can afford to live and be able to pay for pussy, put on your big boy pants, stop whining about the weather and go fuck.

Granted the last few weeks here have been a bit dreary, grey, and rainy, which other posters have been remarking about, yet there has been more than enough sunshine to enjoy, albeit it's typically in the mornings as of lately from about sun up until early afternoon.

You might not like frolicking in the pool, but Colombians love it.

Last Thursday I went to the water park by the local airport with one of my Chicas, and at 11 AM it was packed because of Semana Santa, as all kids were allowed in for free. And it was plenty hot enough in that people were playing in the pools.

They have several pools that are heated, yet the large wave pool is not, so it's a bit brisk, but the Colombians were going nuts in it.

As your aware, the majority of Colombians do not have hot water to shower with in their homes, hence tolerating cold water is natural for them, versus typically not the case for foreigners.

I've spent a summer in Chicago, with no air-conditioning. For someone in Chicago to be saying Medellin is too hot (when a hot summer day in Chicago has a heat index 30° higher than a hot day in Medellin), it's like someone in Florida complaining that Idaho has too many hurricanes.

I spent a year without air-conditioning in Medellin, and other than turning a fan on in the late afternoon (western exposure), the temperature was never an issue. I spent most afternoons walking and barely broke a sweat. Even riding my bike from Envigado to El Centro, and putting some effort into it (had to get back to La Frontera before Ciclovia ended) just worked up a reasonable sweat.

Then again, anyone who has spent their life in the Midwest and never been to Medellin won't understand the role humidity plays.

While recognizing that Pricing Pussy is not exactly high-stakes negotiation, it might still prove entertaining (at least for some of you) to consider what light the economics / business admin literature can shine on the subject. (Upfront qualifier: I'm venturing these comments as a layman; not as a certified economist / MBA, so cut me some slack. And just move on to the next post if this type of somewhat intellectualized pondering bores or irritates you.) The somewhat academic reflections that follow are just for the fun of it. Ok, so you've identified a chica that you're eager to have come by your place for a little gambol and frolic, and you have a maximum target price in mind that's acceptable to you, based in part on your understanding of her true worth in the Medellin monger market (local and expat alike). What does the literature on negotiation have to say about the next question: "Who should make the first offer?" Thirty years ago the conventional wisdom was "Get the other guy (well, gal, in our case) to state her price first", premised on the strategic value of keeping one's cards close to the chest for as long as possible while getting the other party to be the first to disclose some useful information. But in recent years, the pendulum has swung 180 degrees, with the research now demonstrating that, in most cases, it's actually in your interest to be the first to make an offer. This change has largely come about based on the "anchoring effect" first identified by Amos Tversky and Daniel Kahneman, the Israeli founders of Behavioral Economics. This from Wikepedia on the "anchoring effect": "In one of their first studies, participants were asked to compute, within 5 seconds, the product of the numbers one through to eight, either as 1 X 2 X 3 X 4 X 5 X 6 X 7 X 8 or reversed as 8 X 7 X 6 X 5 X 4 X 3 X 2 X 1. " For those presented with the sequence starting with the smaller numbers, the median estimate was 512. For those, who started with the higher numbers, the median estimate was 2,250. (The actual answer in both cases is 40,320).

Since then, a number of other similarly ingenious experiments have further validated / elaborated upon this "anchoring effect", regardless of whether the subjects are Stanford business school grads, or random guys off the street. The implication for price negotiations large or small: Being the first one to state a price creates a strong, unconscious bias towards your initial offer (the anchor) in the mind of the other party, and thereby tends to skew the final result in your favor.

That said, some negotiation experts qualify this conclusion as being dependent on your objective. If your aim is simply to get the best price, for sure, do make the first offer (as long as you don't low-ball so aggressively that the chica takes a walk). On the other hand, if your goal is that both parties come away from the negotiation feeling well satisfied with the outcome, you might still want to let the chica make the opening offer--with the perhaps reasonable expectation that she'll feel better about the outcome if she feels that she remained more in control of the process, and that this good feeling might translate into somewhat better, friendlier service from her in the sack.

Finally, in making one's opening bid, the negotiation literature, not surprisingly, advises one to leave some room for maneuver / compromise, rather than starting with a "take-it-or-leave-it" best offer. I guess an exception to this rule may be for the younger ISG studs who are knocking off multiple, doable chicas per day and operate in full "Don't waste my time" mode. And who understandably have no sense of investment in any particular chica. In my case, by contrast, I have as often as not invested considerable effort (and pesos) just to find the chica with whom I'm trying to make a deal (perhaps having made the luckless rounds of a dozen casas and strip clubs before having spotted her as a potential keeper, someone who really gets my juices flowing and, in most cases, also someone whom I have already taken for a super-satisfactory test drive in the case / club itself). Having made all this effort, I don't want to lose her over 50,000 pesos ($12 or so), or, in rarer cases, even 100 k.

In line with the above, during some introductory chit-chat I will have let the chica know that I'm a seasoned Medellin hand, and, when the time has come to pin down a price, will open with something like "I usually pay around 150 mil plus transport" (or "I have never paid more than x mil"). Then if we end up negotiating briefly and I agree to raise my offer by 50 mil or so to meet her counter bid, I try to leave her with the impression that I'm reluctantly making a rare exception in her case because she's so irresistible, "la belleza de Conejitos" (if not of all of Medellin).

Post about your trip. The biggest lie on ISG is "I'll be sure to post a report. " Post about the good and the bad. Make sure to mention the stuff that took you by surprise. There are always little things which nobody told you about, for example Colombians greeting everyone and saying something when entering and leaving an elevator. Or, waiters will not come to your table unless you signal them. You will be sitting there looking at the menu for 6 hours if you don't catch someone's eye and wave them over.

You hit perfectly on my method. I want a deal where everyone comes out a winner. I'm also willing to play the long game. I don't need that girl on that day and 3 days later, my offer might be much more attractive to her.

I'm also looking long term. I'll probably be in Medellin many more times. I have a reputation of being fair and providing an experience appealing to the girls. When some girl puts my picture on the chica grapevine, she'll likely get a thumbs up from someone.

I think the proof of whether your method works is whether or not most of the girls want to see you again.

In regards to the weather, I just don't understand the complaints. I've worked outside in temperatures from -47°-125°, often dealing with extremely high humidity. I've worked outside in snowstorms, ice storms, dust storms and thunderstorms. I've dealt with 5 months of almost constant rain and 3 weeks when temperatures stayed below -20°. Then there are the nights, when it's still 85° at midnight.
