I rented the apartment from vacationrentalsmedellin.com and paid my deposit back in May for my trip in November. I sent an email on thursday to confirm my booking but haven't heard back from Robert. He was very responsive back in May so I am wondering if I am beat. Anyone know of Robert and his operation?

Here's what you do when you are in the chatting on line stage. You obviously asked her to be your guide, even a $rate was discussed. Durring that discussion/chat also inform her that you are looking for a girlfriend for the time you are here. This is where the negotiations start to happen.
A lot if guys really don't like this negotiation part and you never really know when you meet some of them on the street. Look at my previous post about girlfriends and pros - basically:
Go to a casa or strip club and get laid. And there you have it. No wondering, no whining and dining no cat and mouse no mystery.
You went to a forum supposedly for dating and relationships and got caught up with a semi pro and have to do the guessing and "do I offend her" game. That's a lot of work.

Most women who meet a guy like you on a dating site have no probalem showing you around for free if you buy lunch or whatever - but to have an hourly rate? I do agree with you that there are "normal" girls in Colombia, I've been snake bit by a few undercover prepags. Facebook is a good way to meet chicks, friends of your friends. Not to say the prepags don't have FB pages but they don't recruit clients that way like on "dating" sites.

I donīt blame you for being skeptical, I know women in Medellin very well. But Iīm a pretty smart guy, ha,ha. My first girlfriend had, and still has a good paying job. She payed her share of utilities and rent back then according to her income, which I had calculated to be one third of mine. She drove me all over Colombia in her car and when we went on exotic vacations she payed her part. But when we just went out, I did pay for that and did not ask her for half.
My second girlfriend had a job also, but she worked 10 hours a day, 6 days a week, so I asked her to stop working because I couldnīt be in a relationship like that. I offered to pay her net income after deducting what she had to spend on food and travel to and from work. It was about 350,000cop. She had a little girl, thatīs why I wanted to do that, so she could finish school and take care of her little girl. She was a very simple girl, beautiful, but simple. Never asked me for anything. Her father lived in Texas then moved to Canada and was working on taking the whole family to Canada, but she preferred to stay with me in Colombia. In neither case was the relationship base on me being a gringo or them wanting to come to the USA. They were both happy living in Medellin.
My current relationship, same thing. She works full time and her being with me has nothing to do with wanting to come to the USA. If you are half smart, you can tell if a women really likes you or if she has other interests. My case is a little different since I donīt look blatently gringo. Actually almost Paisa looking, higher end Paisa of course. I have lived most of my time in Envigado and have met normal girls through neighbors and friends in normal settings. There isnīt a lot of tourism or gringos in Envigado, so the girls arenīt looking for wealthy gringos to go out with, itīs not in their mind set. So I guess I was lucky from the beginning to have landed there.
Since I will be keeping a lower profile do to my latest relationship, I donīt want to keep screwing all of them up, my administrator will be taking care of My Place. I will provide a "winggirl" to take you to the Stripclubs or wherever else you want to go whenever Karolina is available, and she is ussually available. Karolina is a party girl, she likes to go out and party and wont charge you for that. But you are not going to find them in strip clubs and on line. You will have to visit amongst the natives to know that for sure. Live like you are a local you will meet the regulars.
Going to the tourist traps, clubs restaurants, etc. you will at best meet innocent looking girls that have learn/been taught the game. Some play it better then others and some just luck out with better SUCKERS then others.
Off the beaten path you might find a really great girl and want to cuida ella and her family. A real cool girl will not cost you much and will not play you as the Pro/non-pro will. They like most humans just want to be loved and treated well. Frank, girl two is common in the pueblos around the clubs and if you can care for them without spoiling them you will have a woman worth life long love. Just a thought.

There are the pros or semi pro prepagos that are kinda in the middle (to me a ***** is a ***** but that is another story) that don't really say anything unless the guy makes the move or hints. Especially with guys that have a certain percieved potential by the girl. Or this same girl may come right out and admit it like you say if the guy is an ugly bald 50 year old obvious a monger.
Remember she may be doing the same guessing game as the OP might be a younger good looking guy with game - not an obvious monger on the surface. "Is this guy going to offer me money or maybe we date or go down a different road...?"

Just wanted to add, why this sense of insecurity or fear? You're on vacation; with almost nothing to lose. Why are you worried what she thinks about you when that's something that you can barely control anyway, non-pro or not? It sounds to me not only were you hoping for sex, but you were hoping she was a pro or semi-pro. If that's really what you wanted, you should have asked during the chat sessions before you even met face to face. LuckyEddie had some very good ideas on handling those questions online.
The other way to try is to invite her to your room/apartment to chill out or hang out. If she's really a non-pro, she'll refuse to go with you alone on a first date to your apartment. If she does go up with you, you can make your "indecent proposal" official in private.
One criticism: you didn't mention whether you initiated physical contact. With women, especially non-pro latin women, you're expected to make all the moves. Start lightly touching her forearm or hand when you're making a conversational point. You said your buddy was with you? Should have had him taking pics of the two of you with your arm around her, etc. etc.
Once she's comfy, you can ask her almost anything. If she gets offended, SO WHAT? If you're really afraid of "getting slapped in the face or kicked in the balls" I think only a girl that's drunk or on drugs would do something like that. If you're really worried about embarrassing the girl, ask on-line or try the indirect approach I mentioned above: "why don't you come up to my apartment and relax with me for awhile" You can always blame the booze and your bad spanish if she "misunderstands" you. ;)
Look, if you're spending lots of money flying down there ostensibly looking for sex, the most unproductive time-wasting thing you can do is indulge or give in to your "fears." We're talking about airhead colombianas here, not IEDs in Iraq, lol! :)
MY point is 90% of these 25-and-under non-pros are incredibly flaky, with at best ambivalent attitudes towards the men in their lives. No matter how good looking, rich, charming, or fluent in Spanish you are, there's almost nothing you can do to change that. Remember, a lot of these girls are cheating and flaking out on good looking local guys, that have the cultural know-how to charm and romance these chicas. So stop worrying about what they "think" about you. The answer is probably not much, but unless you're looking for a serious long term thing, does it really matter?

There was definitely physical contact. She is a great dancer, and, fortunately, I am only two levels below that. LOL
And, yes, my buddy took lots of pictures of the two of us dancing. Pictures that my many friends here in the USA were drooling over, simply because of her beauty.
But, I cannot post them here. Because I do not want to embarass the woman (she's 31, BTW. Not a flaky sub-25-year-old).
My buddy does not think she is a pro or a part-time pro. Because she did not suggest anything to either one of us during a 2-hour drinking and dancing "date" during the afternoon. She could have easily surmised that we would have wanted to be with her. My God. Who wouldn't.
