Before the Pandemic I considered SE Asia as a premier mongering destination as well, and every year would spend a few months there, but since the Pandemic I think hands down Colombia has been the best.

Hopefully when the Pandemic is really in the rear view mirror and places in Thailand and the Philippines are back up to speed I will be returning.

The fact BBFS + CIP is standard by default or at the very least easily attainable in SE Asia should settle this discussion.

Wearing CIP is no fun. All that material sticks to your skin when you get out of the pool.

The perfect place is personal and is more likely different for different people.

That is mostly because Thailand is far away, and one has to cross several time zones. I also speak decent Spanish, and that makes a difference. My ability to speak Thai is nothing to speak off, despite several attempts at learning that language.

I started visiting SEA back in 2003, and Colombia in 2013. For many years now, I have been doing 3 trips per year to Colombia, vs 1, and sometimes 2 trips per year to SEA. I also enjoy visiting Brazil and German FKKs. I speak some Brazilian Portuguese, and English is widely spoken in Germany.

Possibly, the Colombian chicks I met were not interested in pleasing me that much. I can assure you that my Korean ATF gave me a superior BBBJ, and FS was even better. That is why she is an ATF (all time favorite).

But the difference is the local geography. Newsflash: You are on a Medellin board. There is and should be a pro-Medellin bias here. Doesn't mean it has to be everyone's first choice.

I always welcome counterpoints, but ask yourself, why does it annoy you if someone feels like a place shouldn't be missed? There are only two possible answers. Their choice does not agree with yours, or you don't believe people should have personal favorites. Both positions are obviously ridiculous and untenable.

I post almost exclusively on the Medellin section here and I don't think it's too far of a stretch for me to occasionally expect to find some like-minded mongers. I can't explain bashers or haters (not saying that's you) who state their viewpoint, but then continue to hang around and post negatively over and over about a place. Why don't they just go to the board for the place they say they like? Of course if a monger is in town visiting Medellin that is a logical reason to be here, regardless of their first choice. Some folks would have the common sense not to go overboard with the bashing in that scenario but they can and they do.

I have been very upfront that Medellin is my Heaven-On-Earth, Shangri-La, Shambala, Utopia, Nirvana, and Garden of Eden. Perhaps that rises to the level of an obsession for me from which I will never back down. I have enough insight to realize that probably does not hold true for even the people who choose Columbia as their favorite place.

For me, the planets all aligned, all the holes in the Swiss cheese lined up, and Medellin has definitely been a intensely positive, unique and personal experience that keeps getting better and better. I have met people who have mongered in more places that me but this is not my first rodeo. I've been in the game long enough to know that I don't have to keep looking any further to try and find a happier place.
