Finally able to arrange a short trip to Tijuana this coming Thursday. Saturday, though it's a little last minute. Plan is to drive down from LA, park at the border, walk across, then stay at Hotel Cascadas.

Never been to Tijuana, but have traveled to other parts of MX and backpacked throughout South America (Ecuador, Peru, others), so mi Espanol is pretty decent and I'm decently travel savvy. First international trip dedicated to mongering.

Happy to consider giving other non-weirdo mongers a ride down and / or ride up as long as it fits my schedule. Why'all can chip in for gas and parking fees or something. We can break off and do our own thing once we're there or do some of it together, no importa.

(1) Does anyone have a Bank of America account and has successfully used the Santander ATMs throughout Tijuana without accruing fees? Seems like the best option as I'd rather not carry tons of cash with me otherwise and the exchange rate for pesos is pretty fair there seemingly. Or other thoughts on how to safely carry cash in Tijuana?

(2) From what I gather, pesos are the best payment method for most mongering purposes, though not all (better rates at HK with US dollars)? Is this true? Plan to carry some of both.

(3) Most secure + cheapest parking structures / lots at the border? Seems like a lot of them are around $20-$25/ day ATM.

(4) Anyone actually stay at Hotel Cascadas - what about your valuables like a laptop or your passport, did you feel safe leaving it in your room unattended, do they have a safe (doubtful), can you leave things with the front desk / is that legit, etc.

I am definitely not a newbie. I make trips to HK 3 times a month. I've never seen Ana before and I truly believe it was her first day working there. I can tell by her nervousness and reactions in the club and when we got to the room. She didn't know her way around the hotel and did not know how to negotiate her service fee either. I offered her $XX. XX for service and didn't think she'd accept but she did. No girls would of accepted that offer but in the end I tipped her well as I felt I was taking advantage.

During the past few months the exchange markets have been floating an exchange rate that's been generally moving between 17.5 and 18.5 pesos to the dollar. Yet during this time the "in house" exchange rate used by Hong Kong Bar and hotel Cascades has been fixed at 16 X1. When buying drinks or rooms your pesos will go further. That is almost certainly true for the vast majority of chicas as well. The only guys who insist that dollars are just as good as pesos in HK are the mongers who insist on spending dollars, not anyone who objectively looks at it.

For single rooms that have safes, the safes are concealed in the nightstands. Just ask for a room with a safe when you check in, you will be given a key to the safe in exchange for a 100 pesos refundable deposit.

Best to pay hotel in pesos and biggest savings is negotiating with SG's most will still accept the 10 to 1 ratio. If she asks for $20 counter with 200 pesos. $30 counter with 300 pesos etc. Huge savings. Its hard to do the same conversion with BG's but worth a try.

3. Best parking rate is at Motel next to Burger King 6. 00 for 24 hrs. But fills up pretty quick. Also if you do park there when exiting the lot you will see a Subway shop to your left. The cambio just past that. Lately they have the best exchange rates in the border area.

4. At Cascadas make sure to request a room with a safe, they will want a 10 dollar deposit for the safe key. I no longer feel safe leaving anything of value in the room. The cum boys have access and they will enter your room if you are not there.

I'm sure other senior mongers on this forum have better advice but I'd like to share how I go about with the questions you've asked.

1) I've never withdrew $$ from the ATMs in Tijuana. I don't know how much cash you're intending to bring but I bring about $500 every time I go into Tijuana for the day. Rarely do I ever use more than $200 per visit but you have to consider I don't drink alcohol and I often visit Tijuana on either Mondays / Tuesdays. You might ask why / how? Well, border parking station is only $7/ day Mon-Thurs vs $25/ day on weekends. Standard single room at Hotel Cascadas is only $11/ nt (with VIP on Mon&Tues) vs $55/ nt any other night. That's cheaper than the $17 for 30 minutes you get charged to bring a HK girl for a quick fun. Having your own room for the night is so worth it just for the fact that you're not rushed and the girls tend to stay longer and you can rest & recharge. You'll save $17 for each girl you plan to bring upstairs from HK and save $5 on rooms for street girls. Every time I go I would have fun with at least 2-3 street girls ($20 x 3) and end the night with one HK girl ($60-$80). So that's how I spend less than $200 per day in Tijuana. That's not much to brag about as I am sure many mongers have such great relationships with some girls there they probably get their service at no cost. Sorry went off topic but regarding large sums of money. I bring $500 cash each time and I head straight to Cascadas from the border and put it in the safe in my room before I go exploring around Tijuana so I don't carry it on me. There are safes in every Single room but not always available for the other rooms.

2) I've never exchanged exchanged for Pesos. Always carried $US. I'm all for saving $$ but people talk about changing for Pesos to save $ for instance on the cab ride? See'Mon. Really?! You save maybe $1. 50? I'm okay with a $5 cab ride. My main concern is just get me from border to HK and back to border safely. I'm willing to pay extra $3! Most will spend $9 on a drink for a HK girl, now I think that's a waste of $$. Think about it. You buy 2-3 drinks for the ladies you might as well forget the drinks and pay her for a VIP dance at $21 and get some tease / action from it. Or if you're buying her multiple drinks might as well just pay to take her upstairs. I always tell the girls I won't buy you drinks but rather give you that $$ in form of tips for your time sitting with me. This way they get to keep all the $$ instead of getting a "credit" for drinks. They are always pleased and take my tips to buy themselves a drink after at their cheaper rate.

3) I always park at the San Ysidro border parking station at the exit of Camino De La please. Safe place & never had any problems. Plus it's all day till 10 am next day. Be careful as the lot behind Jack in the Crack is $7-$8 for 8 hrs only. I tend to stay longer than 8 hrs so I never park there. However, I've wondered if we could park at the outlet mall parking during business hours? If anyone can comment on that. But at $7 I'm not going to complain to have my car parked in a gated lot.

4) I've mentioned about Hotel Cascadas above. Your valuables are very safe in your room. I wouldn't worry about the staff stealing in your room but I would be more cautious of the girls you bring in there.

Sorry about the long rant but like I said the other senior mongers have way more experience and will have much better advice but I thought I'd share my thoughts as I know there are a few who may think like I do.

Thanks for your recommendation of the parking lot next to Burger King. Wow $6 for 24 hrs is a fantastic price. My concern is how safe is the lot there? Have you every seen anyone's car window get broken into there? I've seen shattered glass in other lots. Is that rate valid on weekends too? Also, how many times have you actually caught any cum boys entering your room? I highly doubt it. If that did happen, did you ever file a complaint with management? I'm sure they have no tolerance for that type of activity. There are cameras in the hallways of the hotel and I'm sure it's quite easy to determine who accessed your room (if that were true). But hey, I've only been mongering in Tijuana for the past year and visit 2-3 times per month so you may know better than I do but I've always booked a room for the night and I've never had any issues like that. FYI. I always ask for a room on the 6th floor on the end of the floor where they have couches by the elevator. Actual questions:.[/QUOTE]This will be my 4th trip down this year. Flying in to SAN Thursday late morning. Taking the trolley down to the border. Staying through Saturday. I am easy to spot, as I have long, grey hair almost to the middle of my back and a beard. I'll buy a drink for anyone who says Hello, and chats.

1. I have used BofA at the ATMs. There is a small fee of a few dollars that I cannot see a way to avoid. Note that I carry a wallet with a few hundred in cash and some old credit cards that have the name and numbers cut out so it looks legit. I don't take risks, but if someone ever confronts me, I will give up the wallet. Other valuables are carried loosely in the pockets, including additional cash. Everything is cash. I never leave critical documents in the hotel room. I also carry a cheap burner cell that I will give up to the slightest threat.

2. I use pesos at the XOXO. Dollars at the clubs. Never had a street girl, but carry enough pesos that if I happen upon one that I cannot resist, I am prepared.

3. I take public transit, so no help regarding parking.

4. I always stay at Cascadas for the convenience. Usually the girls at the other clubs insist on going to the hotel associated with their club. The cost is reasonable for an hour, so I do not protest. OTOH, most of the time I find girls that light my fire at Hong Kong, so it is not an issue. I always go for the nicer rooms at Cascadas. More cost, but the girls are less anxious to leave. Also, most have a refrigerator, some have a safe, most have a hot tub (but they do not always have hot water). Typically you have to ask for a key for the safe, a remote for the TV, and a control for the A/C, all of which require a deposit. (Front counter staff are not very helpful and do not volunteer this information.) I would not leave anything critical in the room, but I have never had an issue. The last time I was there, the door barely latched and the lock was useless. I would never leave a computer or cell phone there, but if it is out-of-sight, it is probably OK. I always see service staff in the halls (and tip them), so I don't think there are a lot of local miscreants in the hotel. Once I arrived early and left a bag at the front desk because the room was not ready. Tipped the guy $2 when I left it and again when I picked it up. Clearly it was untouched when he gave it back. On other trips I have left my bag at the desk at the entrance to the club. Had some valuables in there and the bag was untouched. Not saying it will not happen, but overall I don't think the club or hotel want a reputation for ripping people off (even though they are not without complaints).

5. Get a Hong Kong VIP card at the desk at the club before checking in to the hotel. There is a 20% savings on the room, at least enough to cover the cost of the card if you stay a while. Also in the club there are a few little perks you get with the card. Weekends they charge a cover, unless you have the card. You can get a limo ride to the border with the VIP card, but I usually tip the driver $2, so it is not a great savings and some of the drivers are not particularly friendly.

Looking forward to meeting you or anyone else who will be there this week. I typically sit at the stage or upstairs where I can watch the main stage.

I believe it is a rookie mistake to ask a chica "How Much?" A much better negotiation tactic is lowball her and offer her "xx pesos por arriba" She either accepts your lowball offer or begins negotiations.

If you are unfortunate, and get a quote in dollars, another mistake is to ask "How much in pesos?" Instead you should make a offer in pesos using a multiple (like 10,12, 14). At that point, just like in my prior example, she either accepts your offer or begins negotiations.

Right now the current exchange rate is 18.6 pesos to the dollar. Hong Kong Bar is using an in-house exchange rate of 16 pesos. If you completely ignore my advise, get quoted $100 from an HK chica, and then stupidly ask "How much in pesos?" you are far more likely to get a quote below 1,700 pesos than above 1,700. In this instance she is most likely going to say 1,500 or 1,600 pesos than any other amount. A better tactic, when quoted $100, is to offer 1,000 pesos or 1,200 pesos-I just might get accepted!

Unlike the other lots in the area they have not raised there rates on weekends. The bad things about this lot are it fills up quick so weekends are hard to find a spot. And the parking spots are pretty tight so good luck if you are driving a large vehicle.

As far as Cascadas. I have stayed there many times with no problem. However on several occasions I have had a knock on the door, when I answered it was hotel staff who mumbled something in spanish and walked away. Suspicious but never thought much of it. Then one night I left a pager sitting on the night stand while I was in the bar. When I came back it was gone and there were no guests in the room. So I figured it had to be the cum boys. I know who the fuck still uses a pager. I bet whoever stole it didn't even know what it was. It turned out great I no longer pay the extra fees and all my messages get texted directly to my phone. As far as reporting it, I just felt it would be a waste of time. I used to leave my phone in the room sometimes to charge. But no longer trust leaving anything of value in the room when I'm not there.

Hopefully they have Master Suites available, Cascadas didn't have any left) as reading through these threads it seems like: (a) rooms are correspondingly cheaper (b) rooms are quieter, mb better for overnights with a BG or agency girl) (c) you get the same HK VIP discount perks (d) it's in the same location pretty much (across the street) (e) and most importantly you can still take HK girls there as it's all owned by the same company / dude. See how it goes.

Follow-up questions:

(1) Seems like people have differing thoughts on the safety of leaving your impt stuff in the room (cash, passport, etc). For people who don't leave anything in the room, do you just carry everything with you? That seems like such a hassle.

(2) Heard through different people that you can buy ED drugs (and possibly other things) from bartenders at HK or other clubs. Is there any truth to this? I'll have my own stuff to not tire out / last the night, but just curious.

(3) How many of you partake in DATY and DFK with the BG and / or SGs? I know it seems to be a YMMV thing, more so than with agency girls. Is it safe to assume that by working at the bar, the lady has an up-to-date health card? How about SGs. Does this assumption hold true for them as well? (1) Seems like people have differing thoughts on the safety of leaving your impt stuff in the room (cash, passport, etc). For people who don't leave anything in the room, do you just carry everything with you? That seems like such a hassle.

Some prefer to carry an expired DL or ID and leave there passport in the safe. If you don't need to keep your phone on you leave it in the safe with a good chunk of your money. So there now you don't have a lot to carry around.

2. Yes the mesero and bathroom attendants will sell ED drugs I wouldn't trust buying them from them I would stick to the pharmacies. Might be best to buy and ingest right away since Tijuana cops like to hassle you and pretend you can't have them.

3. You hit the nail on the head YMMV. If you are super paranoid you can ask to see a health card but it may kill the mood. BG's and SG's are suposed to have them, but this is Mexico and not everybody follows the rules.
