Final thoughts on the disco scene
So I was able to summon up some energy to hit up the Discos latenight after an afternoon at DD.
Hit Marine at 1Am and it was totally dead. Followed up with Lucifer. Spotted a very hot chick and she returned my glances wth a smile. We danced for a bti and I bought her some drinks. But this was going nowhere. We grinded a little and she grabbed my dick at one point. But the problem was that it was so damn hot I was sweatng liek in a sauna. (I wish those bitches woudl get sme AC!!!) I think this made her lose interest. I think she was trying to tell me this but it was so damn loud that I couldn't hear a word she said. I finally bid her a polite farewell. It was alread past 2Am and this was going nowher anyway.
Went to marine. Now packed. But I was a bit too drunk to deal with this place and its full potential. Met a very cute girl at the bar. Started grinding on her but she was non committal to my proposal that we go to my place. got some looks and hellos form some othe rgirls. Bt I really didn't ahve the energy to explore all possibilities here. I guess I wasted what little I had in the tank left on Girl #1 at Lucipher.
Finally said fuck it and decided to make a try Walking Street. The place was emptying out and the guys said I only had 1/2 hr left. Spotted a nice slim girl at the bar alons. Final thoughts: the disco scene is alive and well. But it really takes a lot of effort. The clubs are loud, sometimes hot an go very late. Unless this is what you like to do in life then I'm not sure its worth it. There is a school of thought that it is easier to find a GFE, but I am able to find it with most of the girls anyway. just make sure to treat them nice and develop a rapport before hand. After traveling thousands of miles my time is too precious to fuss about with this. Leave it to the younger guys who still have not figured this out and who are happy chasing windmills. I'd rather be home at 2AM getting busy. I'm on vacation for Fuck's sake!
A nice compromise though, is Walking Street. Like a disco in many ways. But good AC and less expensive (beers 85BHT). The girls also are down to go home earlier. Most times they won't even mention money.
Tonight's my last night here and I will spend it with my favorite Bargirl. Will pay the BF and everything. In this game you always end up paying anyway. I'd rather give my money to the girl directly then pay for overpriced drinks at these places.

While I do not really want to fan any flames I was mulling over this discussion while at work tonight. Now I have not been following it too closely but what did occur to me was that if who*ing oneself means doing what is distasteful, only for the money, then I am probably one of the biggest who*es I know right now. I metaphorically bend over every night at work as the man who pays my salary gives it t me up the ass. And as it happens I think-for the money.
Now I do not begin to believe that every working girl has this attitude but I have to ask, when someone denigrates wgs in general-what are [b] you[/b] doing just for the money?
I have my own reasons for doing this right now. But seeing it in this perspective is certainly humbling and builds my respect for wgs even though many I meet also do seem to enjoy the work.

Well in fact Kumbu, far from being wise, I am just a guy who has always had rather a tenuous grasp of consensus reality. That is I have often been just this side of crazy, and probably ventured over the boundary once or twice in my days. I have always been interested in different states of consciousness, from meditative consciousness to full blow psychedelia-and every thing in between. I still do not know what "it" is. But I do know that experience is very much a matter of perception. When a pick pocket sees a Saint, all he sees are the pockets. So the guy who shows up in BKK with thieving who*es in mind, will run into thieving who*res. It really is that simple. Now a guy like you might also run into a thieving who*e, but you will experience the girl differently and will probably take something very different away from the encounter.

Just to add my own two baht's worth of commentary, I'm sure that Angus and Kumbu are correct: how we interpret "reality" will determine what we take (and give) to any situation, since reality is largely a matter of projection. The most fundamental precept of Buddhism, which, at some level must be critical for most Thais, is respect and compassion for others. To the extent that we exhibit this trait determines to a large extent, how Thais will react to us. A derisive, superior attitude will elicit a generally cold, calculating response, where as the converse will also hold true: the extent to which we can be gracious, respectful and engaged will elicit more warmth and kindness.
My observations, both in Thailand and in the Philippines where I live, suggests that the guys who treat women as sperm repositories tend to treat most people--not only WGs--disdainfully, which is why the locals dismiss them and their arrogance as unworthy of any respect.
