Again, my adjusted expectations were she wasn't going to show or she would be really late. Ringggg Ringggg.

12:50 reception notified my I had a guest. Yep, actually a few minutes early.

Guy comes into a thread and asks a ton of mostly mundane, elementary, and somewhat ridiculous questions wasting everybody's time. Date comes he claims he is going and he says this came up and he had to reschedule. He finally fades away from the thread never to be heard from again. Maybe coming on ISG doing that is some guys' way of bringing excitement to their lives.

It could be the same group. The target in Centro was not a gringo.

I first visited Medellin in early 2010 for a B-School buddies wedding and have been visiting ever since, both for girls and general vibe (work remotely). Back then it was still deemed a bit dangerous and the P4 P scene harder to find (mostly casas, FB was nascent), people suffering from general poverty. Since then P4 P rates have gone up slightly (accounting for USD exchange), also more girls doing it of course, but more importantly the average person seems to be doing much better when I think of the tourism industry. Overall I liked when it was only being 'discovered', but more so happy for how tourism (beyond mongers) has helped the average person do better.

Yet to this day, I still question whether Sjobs was really ever in Medellin, as lots of things just didn't add up, especially when the posts of how he would smuggle himself into Colombia began, [/QUOTE]I know I am rehashing my old arguments here but Sjobs is just one of most curious things. Like if there was a mongering TV channel with a show similar to Dateline there would definitely be an episode called The Curious Case of the Missing Sjobs.

I have said this before about why I think he was (is) real but I get your point about his stuff sometimes not adding up. He was not like some guys who seem fake becuase he did not parrot the common wisdom. Like the prevailing wisdom on here is do not go to Gusto because its over priced but he would defend going there and spending outragious money becuase the chica would dance and party with him all night etc. His anxiousness to get back in and talk of smuggling was over the top but in the end he (allegedly) was on one of the first flights in when Colombia started letting people in again. He stated that he was going to buy an apartment and move there. But then after he caught the flight (allegedly) His last post said he had business dinner that night and then TLN with two 19 yr olds which leads me to wonder if the 19 yr olds didn't drug him, then he said he was going to post more later. Then he just disappeared.

That to me is the most suspicous part because he had been such a regular poster up to then. It is Colombia and we read often about people being murdured, and its possible that since he though he knew all he needed to know that he just decided he did not need this site anymore but that part does not jive because he had seemed to post with a frequency and in a way that indicated he like being part of this "coimmunity" (best word I could think of), Even if he was fake it does not make sense to me that he would just suddenly stop posting. There is obvioulsy not enough evidence either way about him but if I had to guess. My wild guess would be that he got murdered. It is the thing that would make the most sense to me.

I've also read stuff from guys which seemed perfectly reasonable and then found out that the poster had embellished quite a bit.

One in particular that I ran into a few times was a poster fluent in Spanish, but with a very limited vocabulary.

Then he just disappeared..[/QUOTE]Yes, I recall you being one of a few who thought he was real, and actually in Medellin, while I was posting that I thought he was posting all his tales from the basement of his parents house where he lived, and never was in Medellin.

I am curious what others think, and perhaps some of are other respected board members who were around thru all of this might want to chime in.

It would also make sense that he was a paranoid schizophrenic that got medicated. LOL. He could also have been a teenager in his parents basement posting non sense. Of course he could have met the fate you describe. In the end unless he comes back and declares himself it's something we will never know.

For me the most entertaining of the pandemic was slapshot by a long way, he had easily hundreds of us living vicariously. I have been to MDE a few times before and knew people living there, but no ones stories backed up by pictures and nararives matched slapshots contributions in those dark days.

Will be coming back to Medellin in Sept for my 2nd visit. This time, I will be leaving from Tijuana, stopping in CDMX, then to MDE.

Has anyone taken this route? Anyone know if a Covid test will be required leaving MDE back to CDMX? Same form to enter Colombia from CDMX?

I RTFF daily. For the past few years. Couldn't really find anything on this.
