I should not be confused with the subject matter experts here of which there are many, and I would say they bring more "value" to the table. I hesitate to name them because of error of omission and leaving someone out, but we all know Surfer Dude and JuJuBees jump to the forefront. The board is the sum total of its parts. There are several different right ways to do things and there are too many wrong ways to list. Doing things the Osteo way will almost certainly result in a catastrophic failure for most newbies. Quite frankly he narrowly escapes disaster every trip.

It is safer for some than it is for others. With respect to crime, yes it does occur. I think statistics show it does not occur disproportionately in Medellin compared to cities of similar size. It is true that there are men in Centro. If you are not comfortable speaking to women when they are near other men, they will pick up on that and move away from their boyfriends and acquaintances to deal with you. Establish eye contact, even from a distance, and women who are good to go will acknowledge you. Approach the women, greet them, and then motion toward a shady spot away from whatever bro show is happening near them. You can then get into whatever chit chat you like. You can also cut to the chase with a simple "vamanos para la pieza. " The rough translation is "let's go fuck. " 30 K plus the frequently mentioned 8 K to 15 K (18 K at Hotel Deseo if you are a high rolling rat like Surfer) for the room. The original post is similar to some we see here regularly that are a request for a sanity check or a request to be talked out of venturing into Centro. I'm really not the guy to cover that.

Just ignore the trannies / kids offering drugs and you'll be fine since you don't drink so no risk of getting drugged. As far as the girls I just speak to them with my back against a wall so I can see my surroundings and able to use my phone safely if I need to translate something. There is a strong police presence and I have seen them arrest locals for fighting / stealing / being too fucked up so they do take care of shit.

Ostee Out.[/QUOTE]The crisis has been going on since 2010/11 when Chavez was still around and has accelerated with Maduro as the price of oil dropped, their oil production plummeted (corruption, brain drain, lack of maintenance). And Maduro is more of an idiot lacking Chavez's charisma. It's isn't over by a long shot and Venezuela will need decades to recover.

I lived in Miami during most of 2019/2020 and there were A LOT of Venezuelans there, mostly those that had the means to get out did. A lot of engineers, dentists, accountants, very educated people driving Uber and picking up other jobs.

In regards to resentment. I've heard a bit of both. Some of the upper class and older Colombians have told me that Venezuela took in a lot of Colombians during the late 20th century so they need to help them out. Others that are lower on the totem pole have said that they undercut the labor jobs. From a prepagos perspective, most of the casas and strip clubs I've gone to are only Colombian. I think the girls have an informal union that keep the Vennies out or they have clubs just for them. A month ago I was in Cali and in one of the rougher parts of town there was a club / brothel just for the Venezuelan girls. Next door was one that was all Colombian girls.

They have the tightest network out there. They are also the most dangerous IMO, but if you have a tranny or two as a friend you can feel protected. And two of my better sessions at Ground Zero were with chicas were referred to me by trannies. If you need to know anything about what is going on locally, a trans will know. If I am looking for a girl they will tell me if she's in a hotel and will be out in a minute or she's not around. I've had two bonafide near death experiences since coming to Medellin. Before that, maybe 3 or 4. If I die tomorrow I die a happy man. And I don't fear death. That combination amounts to some extreme behaviors which is why I often say here people can learn more from me about what not to do, than what to do.

I've been back a few days now but better late than never for a report I hope.

Or what if they demand to go to the room with you? Most people won't have your street smart to get out of it easy. The danger goes up significantly once you go further north into the area outside of El Centro where most congregate.
