It is a a showcase for Brazil (coupled with the 2014 World Cup). Many of the sports venues will be converted to facilities for citizens. And Brazil is aiming at dramatically growing tourism into the country (not just mongers!) The country will change dramatically. Many old timers here can't accept thta. Hell, my lady does not accepot it because she heard it all before. Different now.

Guys - with everything I am reading on the forum I guess it apparent that it's not worth heading down to Rio. I have heard that it has not been the same since Help has closed. Need to find a new international spot. I am gonna miss my days there, its a shame.

Try dating a US woman with lower socio-economic status than yourself, like you would probably be doing in Brasil. An urban retail worker or small town girl. Small town girls in the US are just as much fun as favela girls and will look up to you in the same way. If you have stylish clothes and seem successful and worldly, as you probably are, you'd be the alpha male in most small towns. The grass is always greener... I've never heard any Brasilian colleagues bragging about their passionate wives, they keep mistresses and when the mistress is being a 'lame fuck' too, they hit up the termas/casas for strange T&A just like the gringos. I have to respectfully disagree with you. Rio isn't/wasn't all about Help or even the greater Zona Sul scene. Check my last Rio reports from late June/Early July. Other than Pattaya, Angeles City or Jakarta I am not sure else where I could have possibly had so much affordable fun. 7 days, 21 girls, tons of memories and not much money. And it's so easy in Rio: transit, girls, food, attractions.

I like to mix it up myself.
I enjoy the non-pro girlfriend for hangin out, exploring together, dinners, the love, etc.
The pros are nice to add a little variety to life, try out a different cereal (ie Billy Crystal, City Slickers) :)

I would say the most important quality in being able to jive with the non-pros is your ability to communicate.
I'm assuming you speak good Portuguese, because your looks, charm and nice living aren't gonna get ya far with non-pros if you can't really mix it up with 'em.

Also, IMO, because of the rep of the sex-tourist in Rio, and the possible subsequent connotation of a girl hanging with a gringo (western guy), especially with one who doesn't speak the language, I find it much easier to meet and date non-pros in Sao Paulo where the sex-tourist is not near as prevalent.

I've had good success there (SP) myself, however, the traffic is horrible and there is no beach within walking distance.

I am in a long term relationship in Brazil now. She moved into my home in Brazil (together with a friend which is working out great). Without knowing any Portuguese. I would not have been able to date her and develop a relationship. I would cook for her and we would talk over dinner.

Do guys meet regular ladies and have short term non-paying flings? Yes, rarely, but I would say that speaking Portuguese is a must on top of your great looks.

And you can get great passion in a paid session. Amazing how you can just meet someone and spend a few hours with them and they can give you a great GFE experience, and then you can have another with someone else a half hour later.

And not all US women suck. There are always great opportunities everywhere. Don't generalize.

I find this to be good advice. I quit mongering six months ago after a simple, uncomplicated woman befriended me at one of the dating sites. Never had consistently better loving with low expectations, i.e. respect for my complicated status.
It's easy to dream about finding a foreign woman but linguistic and cultural difficulties often sour a relationship before it matures. While I wish the OP luck in Brazil -- or somewhere else -- I would not ignore the possibilities of finding someone in the U.S.
The so-called sex prison is nicknamed that because we are willing prisoners by not considering the thousands and thousands of good women looking for good guys like us. Upscale brasileiras have very little respect for foreign mongers, and a very very high opinion of their fellow countrymen. In Brasil, girls have already tons of good-looking, sporty, fun and wealthy (and sometimes filthy rich) horny brasilian guys, with who they share the same cultural interests, waiting in line at their feet begging to please them. They don't need "never to be seen again after their 10 days sex holidays" gringos. For middle to upper-class brasilian girls, a sex-hungry gringo is about at the same level than a cockroach. Of course, you will be able to fuck lower class girls, but they won't fuck you because of your charm or your game, but because they see benefit in doing so.

This is the huge difference with FSU, where dyevuskas, and especially the most learned and worldly, jump on any occasion to fuck a decent looking,witty and well-travelled foreigner. Contrarily to brasileiras, fucking their fellow countrymen is a chore FSU dyevs have to do, not something they particularly enjoy. And they are much wilder. I personally score more non-pros during one week in Chisinau or Tashkent than during two monthes in Goiania, Rio or wherever in Brasil.

The reason why there's so many Russian (or Ukrainian, Belarus, ect) top-level women available is simple. So many FSU men are just gopniks - sort of white trash. I would like someone who is familiar with Rio and its Carnival tell me: is it worth trying to visit during the Carnival? I would like to meet the girls, of course. Will it be more difficult at that time? Is everything much more expensive and more difficult? Is the Carnival REALLY special, or just a lot of niusance?
