It definitely could be something more serious, but I tend to default of these situations being guys doing stupid things on vacation unless the evidence proves otherwise. It way too easy for an old man to get high / blackout drunk (as Korean men in particular are known to do) and go to the balcony for "air" and lose balance leaning on it.

As for saving money on my condo, I have held it long enough that its cheaper per day than a hotel, and every year going forward moreso. But the condo is a lot more convenient than a hotel.
