Golazo,
I leave for a couple of weeks and expecting to return with a stronger dollar exchange. Instead, you overpay and make it seem that there will be more of your type coming into the country. I do not mind the gift part since that is a personal style thing. But do stay within the going market rates the next time your in the country.
Secondly, $90/night at Ermita is way over priced. As with those club/bar tours, just plain avoid them. When thinking in perspective to prices in the States, yes it is way cheaper than Vegas. But that doesn't work in the Philippines were an average worker only takes home less than $100 a month.
Lastly, Ignore that CIA travel report to Mindanao. That same report tells of daily bombings in Manila which hasn't happened for a couple of years now. Yes they bombed the airport and wharf area in Davao asccording to the news. If you were there, you'd know that it was outside the airport ( a waiting shed is what gotbombed and were most of the casualties were at ) and outside the main entrance of the pier (the bomber couldn't get past the security point). Security in Davao is higher than Manila, not only in terrorist threats but in crime as well. Making it a safe place compared to Manila. You'd be surprise how many foreigners are there in Mindanao.
Just avoid Basilan, Tawi-Tawi and Sulu as Goodenough has said. Glad you enjoyed your first trip to the PI. Learn from the members of this board. Your next trip should even be better and cheaper.
P.S. Just to rub it in. My ticket to Bangkok to San Francisco and back to Manila only cost me $680 via CHina Airlines with a two week notice. With a 3 hour stop over in Taipie on the return but a small price to pay.

GoodEnough,
Face it Pal, these guys coming here in Manila on there "once in a lifetime" fling are hopeless. But let's keep them up here where we both still manage to do just fine with the ladies, in spite of these guys throwing 5-10 times the going rate at the women.
In Davao we both have a great thing going. We do not need some temporarily unmarried dreamers messing up our fun.

Stace,
Face it, no way we will ever educate the first timers and "once in a lifetime" Asian traveller. It really doesn't matter. When the ladies realize we are not a "dumbass rookie", they will either move on or, more likely, adjust their price back to reality.
The Tales of "today is my birthday" and "I have a newborn baby" related by Golazo have been told to me hundreds of times in both Thailand and the Philippines. It doesn't have me ripping my wallet out. Nor do the ladies up and split when the line falls short.
One thing I am certain of for both countries, the supply far exceeds the demand. I read about guys paying as much as 5000 baht for Go-Go girls in Pattaya City, Thailand. Last June I took a gorgeous 21 y/o out of Starlight Go Go for only 500 baht and fucked her three times. She knew from the start by my speaking fluent Thai that I am not a rookie but went along anyway. She left ,essages for me with a friend asking that I look her up on my return, which I did.

Hey Gents!
Discovered your forum a few weeks past. Nice vibe of seasoned pros here you've got going. Well done!
I'm new to mongering within the past 2 years and all my time was spent in Thailand. Had a thing for filipinas for years though and think this summer I'll swing over to the PI and taste the fruits there.
So, I'd like to ask for some online map URL's if I may that you use as reference in your own plans. I did some searching of threads last week and came up with travel agents and hotels but no map sites. Anyone have any good links to online maps for any area of the Phillipines?
Thanks!

Too Much Mind,
I have been thoroughly scouring the web for the same thing, but I still havent found a decent map that shows (and names) all of the pertinent streets in Manila. I found a bunch of maps of areas like Malate, Makati, and Quezon, but again, not in the detail I would prefer. I think the only option is to buy 1 at a bookstore or online. I was thinking of taking a chance and just buying a map IN Manila since the maps there have got to be way cheaper than the crazy prices the US companies charge. 16 days left for me until MP/FL heaven!

I'll be in Philippines next April. I'd like to stop only a couple of night in Manila. Looking for any suggestion for a hotel not expensive, girls friendly and... where to go during the night
(many members suggest La Cafe).
Thanks

Hot Sam:
I cannot give you much advice on a range of hotels, but I can tell you that I've gotten P2500 (about $45) rates at both the Dusit and the Intercontinental, both of which are 5 star hotels in the middle of Makati. In my case, the company made the arrangements, but I know others who have gotten the same deals on their own. All it takes is a willingness to bargain, and an ability to bullshit reasonably well with the Duty Manager. I like the 5 stars because of all the amenities and the location, which is pretty convenient to almost everything. Also, the safety factor is enhanced at these hotels. I have never seen a hotel anywhere in the Philippines that is not girl friendly.
As to where to go at night, I would pay close attention to the contributors to this forum. I have never found them to be far off the mark. For me, the LA Cafe remains the best, but surely not the only, game in town.

Too Much,
Both Nelles Maps and National Bookstore Inc have good maps for sale, but not free online viewing.

Brothers,
I just returned from a trip to AC and Makati/Manila. I posted my Makati trip report tonight on that board. Rather than posting it again here, just thought I would let you know in case anyone was interested in reading it.
Yes, it was my rookie trip and no doubt I made some mistakes. We were all rookies at one time and you have to start somewhere. Thanks to this board, I feel that I limited my mistakes and did not overpay except for one or maybe two times when I was over served. hehehe But even then, it was not extravagant. I have made numerous trip to Peru, and two to Colombia in the past so I am not a pure rookie in any sense, but I knew very little about the RP. This board helped alot.
I had ask one guy if all women in the RP were *****s. In the context I was asking, I thought it was clear that I was not really serious, but more of a rhetorical question than anything else. I had a thought of trying to meet a regular girl while over there. I did not really know how to go about it and based on some of the posts here I assumed that the percentage of working girls was way higher than it really is. I meant no offense to anyones girlfriend or wife and I admit it was not a prudent question, even if not intended as serious. I actually did not spend all my time in AC, but also went to Makati/Manila. I would like to return and go to Cebu and Davao.
Anyway, thanks to all who post here as it really helped me alot on this trip.
Good hunting,
Mikster

Does anyone have the exact addresses for Air Force One and Star Trek in Manila? From what I gather they are located on Sucat Road. But where?
Also, does anyone have a complete or comprehensive list (Names, addresses) of massage parlors and daytime options in Metro Manila?
-
Stace,
Its better to buy your maps there in the Philippines. When you get there, just go to National Bookstore (biggest local chain) and buys the maps. They range in price from P100-P500 ($2-$10) depending on the complexity you want. Most hotels 4 star or better will have these for sale too.
All others taht want to get good priced accomodations should try www.asiatravel.com I personally use this while in the Philippines.

Xenono looks like you might need a guide for at least your exploration out, then you can prolly get there on your own next time.
Give my guide Jay R a call 09174145416, he knows where AF1 and other places are as well as 24/7 massage parlors around town with the best bang for the buck.
He just brought me a couple of girls- a virgin that I looked over and haven't decided on and a girl who just started working yesterday. He hasn't lost his touch :)
If you're into doing the starlets that you see on TV, for the right price you can have them I believe Jay R has connections to those now. Ask him.
Good Luck and Have Fun!

Can anyone here tell me whether the Mandarin Oriental is girl friendly?
-
Mandarin Oriental is girl friendly. A good location too. Short distance to where the bars are.
