Any hospital can test you, and there are plenty of hospitals in Udon.
The Aek Hospital is small but has a good reputation, but for something as straight-forward as a blood test they should all be equally proficient.
This is not a mongering report but I want to share what I saw in Udon. I'm here visting a friend I met so I have not been out mongering.
We went to visit her family in outside of Udon (Nang Bua Lam Phu). In her little village of about 100 people there were two women with aids and there husbands and children had it also. One of them said they got it from her husband who also worked at a bar.
It was so scary to see this up close that it scared the hell out of me. It made me regret everytime I didn't use a condom.
When I was in pattaya I would ask farangs who lived there if aids is a problem and everybody said no. I wonder if it's becuase no one talks abot it when they get it.
Anyway I just wanted to share this. Its "up to you " what this all means.
I was so scared yesterday when we went to the hopital to get are blood test. We are both clean for HIV and Hep A. Hep B took to long for the results so I passed since I won't be here that long.

One of these hopsitals (Bangkok Pattaya Hopsital I think), has the highest number of registered HIV+ foreigners in all of Asia.
Plus, British hospitals (and most likey Europe, US etc) have very high numbers of out-patients who caught the virus whilst in SE Asia.
So, you are probably correct, no-one wants to talk about it. Unfortuanately many of these guys also continuing mongering as usual. I've met guys with the revenge mentality- they got it from a bar-girl so they don't feel guilty if they give it back to a bar-girl. Fucking assholes!
Plus, it is shocking how many HIV+ bar-girls still continue to work as normal across the country.

Don't have any figures to hand, but I often visit hopsitals across the country (not as a patient), plus regularly socialise with Thai doctors and this is what they tell me.
Shocking stuff indeed, but not really suprising.
Am sure it is easily-Google-able common knowledge.
I'll be going here for a day to check out the "old capital". Is there any action around here? From what I was told the college girls here do not make a lot of money, so they either work the rice fields or find another alternative. Info would be great. Thanks!

Ayutthaya is a nice place for a quick break from BKK, but aside from the historical attractions not really too much going on there. There are a couple of small discos and bars but these are very Thai style so no established pick-up scene for Westerners. Basically any Ayutthaya local interested in fucking Farang is only an hour or so from Bangkok.
But it is easy enough to get chatting to groups of girls at night, and easy enough to get someone back to your room. I've also met BKK bar-girls I know there who have been visiting family and friends.
I prefer meeting girls at the shopping mall during the day, taking them for dinnner then letting them take me out to one of the little discos. There is one shopping centre where everyone seems to hang out during daylight hours, give that a try.
There will of course be the usual Thai sex scene, brothels, MPs etc. but I've no idea where these are.

Ayutthaya-
I got a great deal for 1050BHT which includes a trip to the palace,the old capital, and a boat trip along the Chao Prya river. It was one of the most wonderful!. The trip started off with a stop off at Bang Pa Palace. If you like history check it out.
I saw the Ho Hem Momithan Thewart shrine, and many other palaces. The people who work here keep the place up kept and VERY tidy. By far the most intersting place I saw while there was the Prha Thinang Aisawan Thiphta-Art palace. Very Beautiful
NOTE: I strolled off to the food stalls nearby the palace. I grabbed some rice, spicy chicken, and a soda. total price 50BHT. Now why go home hmm?:D
I also mingled with the locals who live here. Now I can't speak Thai very well if not hardly at all. But with a few smiles and broken English it made out a-ok.
***Next stop, the city of Ayutthaya or "old capital"***
Once there, temples, temples, temples..and more temples!. Just looking at these beautiful sculptures just shows how proud the Thai people are about there culture and history. I was simply awed! I took plenty of pictures for lasting memories. I will come back to this place again!.

The ride along the river was great!. For lunch they served plenty of food. I had for the 1st time spicy prawn soup. It was good and spicy like I thought it would be. Also I had Udon Noodles, beef and mixed vegetables. Stuffed like a Thanksgiving turkey after I was done.
During the boat ride, I took pictures along the river. One place that took my interest was the Singha Beer Factory and the Department Of Corrections!. Looking at the DOC it looked nice on the out side..but on the inside. I wouldn't think of it.
The trip ended at the Novohotel around 5:00pm. Over all the staff were nice, professional and accomidating. I will be doing it again soon!. But this time it will be much more on the sex scence as I like to think "outside the box"

To save answering any more PMs regarding Chiang Rai, Mae Sai, and Tachilek, here is a bunch of crap about the region.
Basically don't go to Chiang Rai to monger, it’s a nice base if you wanna go play in the mountains, or hide in the hills, but if you want lots of girls you’re a million times better off in Chiang Mai. But should you find yourself in CR head over to Sperm Club (yes, yes, I know), or Par Club (both close to Big C), or Where-Else Club (near the clock tower). There are also a few smallish beer-bars, plus an area with lame go-go bars and boy-bars (behind the clock tower), but the aforementioned discos are where all the hotties hang. Am not a brothelist or a MP-fan so can’t advise on those.
Strangely, it is actually easier to reach CR from BKK, rather than CM, as there are plenty of direct flights from there. But most visitors probably start in Chiang Mai and go to CR to escape the “relative” hectic-ness of CM.
From CM you can fly (takes about 45 minutes), or drive, or take the bus.
-Flying is kind of stupid, as by the time you get to the airport, wait, board, fly, land, etc., you won’t have saved any time, and will have spent more money.
-If you’re driving/being-driven then an excellent pit-stop is the small town of Wiang Ba Bao, where you can eat the best Khao-Man-Gai in Northern Thailand.
-The air-con bus goes from the CM bus station, takes about three hours (it’s good; new, clean, reclining seats). There will always be some selfish prick sat in front of you reclining his seat too far. Resting your magazine on his stupid inconsiderate head usually sends the right message (also works on planes).
To reach Mae Sai, either stay on this air-con bus after it passes through Chiang Rai, or spend one night in CR and take a normal bus to Mae Sai the next morning. This leaves CR every 30 minutes, takes ninety minutes and costs only 29 Baht (sao-gao jao!). The seats are small so if you have someone sat next to you and can’t spread your legs then you may or may not lose a testicle. Couple of police road-blocks along the way, just checking for illegal Burmese folk, you won’t even be looked at. This bus has no air-con but if it is before midday it won’t be too hot, plus you’ve got open windows so your silken locks may blow in the wind, while the sun warms your perverted face. It’s nice.
Once you reach Mae Sai jump on the back of a motorbike (30 Baht) to the border, have them stamp your passport out of Thailand, stroll across the bridge, pay 250 Baht (or 5USD) and get stamped into Burma, keep on strolling, drop down into the market, push your way through the beggars, buy bargain DVDs, drink iced chocolate, et-fucking-cetera (repeat to fade). Don’t buy a roti from the roti man; I hate that prick (long story). The guys selling porn also offer you girls, haven’t taken them up on the offer though.
Then collect your passport, leave Burma, re-enter Thailand and take the air-con bus (285 Baht) to Chiang Mai (four hours). Or if returning to CR either ride the 29 Baht bus, or, the same air-con bus that goes to CM (but passes though CR).
The nice comfortable air-con buses to Mae Sai and CR leave from CM a few times a day; always good to book a day ahead, the company is called Green Bus Thailand.
CB - "collect your passport"? you leave it at the border crossing???

no need to leave your passport there, I even managed to cross that border with just a photocopy of my passport. They even stamped it :)
BTW, there is a nice golden Chedi worth looking at, also a small temple with a huge "holy" pig. Don't remember what was so special about that pig, maybe it was born with just three legs, no tail, different color or whatever. Best way to go around is to hire a rickshaw.
Dinghy- You leave your passport in the small Burmese immigration office while you're roaming in Tachilek. They give you a ticket which Burmese soldiers will check before letting you proceed into town. Why the concern? You don't trust the Junta eh?
Traveler- You mean to say that both Thai and Burmese immigration officals let you leave/enter their countries with only a photocopy? Does that work at Don Muang, or just "walking" borders?
Oh, and officially you are meant to flash 10/20,000 THB (depending on which visa you hold) when re-entering Thailand. But unless you look smelly or poor, or do this same visa-run regularly, they rarely check. I take my BKK-Bank account book instead but have never been asked for it.
Its actually pronounced TA-KI-LEI by most poeple. I had made the visa run about 10 times here and did some lady houses adventures. You hire a bike taxi and he will take you to all the lady houses.
I visited the baang puying or the lady houses a few times there and some cuties can be found. These girls live in the house so you can go almost any time of the day even in the morning. I did that one time went in at about 10 AM and the house mama just woke the girls up to show me.
The price is about 300-800 depend on the girl. The age range from 15-25 according to their look. But the downside is that the rooms are not very comfortable. I think some of rooms are the same rooms where girls sleep and live. And the bathroom also quite below standard. One place has running water somewhat yellowish. But girls are very friendly. Sevearl times the girls even washed my hair and massage my head and body and no-cover BJ and very good sex for all around 500 bahts.
If you like a girl and want to pound her across the border at Mae Sai in your own comfortable hotel room, they will come over and see you there. I book several times girls in Tachiley and have them come over the border (or sneak over) later, I remembered I paid about 1000-1500 for ST and 1800 to 2000 for all nighter. I am making my visa runs recently thru Donok Changloon last few runs and may do the Mae Sai-Tachiley next run. And visit the lady houses in Tachiley to see if any new talents.
CB - more a matter of what time they close and the like. I just don't want to be separated from the passport (noids always come in pairs) but if that's the drill then so be it.
