I went and read all of this guys posts. He is seriously demented. The King comment should really be deleted from the forum. This guy obviously has absolutely no knowledge of Thailand or he would never have put that into writing. The very existence of that comment being here puts this forum at risk with Thailand. You never know who in the government might read it and what their reaction to it might be.

Jackson, you really should delete that posting and all the quotes of it from the forum. It really has no place here and is not relevant to the purpose of this forum.

If you did this in the street in Thailand and started to say negative things about the king, you would not be walking away. Because a crowd would kick the S%@t out of you. I would suggest you did not do this in Thailand, less you had a death wish! But maybe he has a death.

I would guess he has not spent any amount of time in Thailand, because he does not understand the Thai People respect for the King.

To each your own, but I would believe Stephen is a person that likes to hear his voice. It easy for a person to talk smart on the board, but is he the same in real life??? Posting like this is just a waste of space, have no value for anyone and should be removed.

Disrespecting the King of Thailand would be like spitting on an image of the Pope in front of Catholics in their church, only worse. Expect a reaction like you'ld get from badmouthing someone's mama.

I visited Thailand recently and checked out some places in Bangkok while I was there. A few surprising things I was not aware of before visiting.

- Many of the bars in Bangkok close down at 2 AM, some of the "entertainment clubs" like on Ratchadapisek Rd at 1 AM.
- The prices: Hotels in Bangkok are about the same as many cities I've been to in South America. However the service at high end hotels is amazing and the taxis are unbelievably inexpensive (less than 2 dolllars to get anywhere in the city). Girls ranged in price but you could have a girl all night for 2000 Baht if you bother to negotiate.
- The pollution is horrible, one of the worst I've ever experienced.

I found the street scene around Sukhumvit a rather sad spectacle that was not particularly enticing. The chaos of the streets with grasshoppers being cooked alongside other food, fake watches, DVDs and girls literally grabbing you as you walked by. The lady boys are also a disturbing site. The mongers around there are a rather strange lot as well. Mongers from literally everywhere, Africa, China, Middle east, and many Europeans. Very few Americans really. On the way to Ratchadapisek road, a Taxi took me to a club called Embassy without me asking and in there I saw a group of about 10 muslim men bidding and shouting on the women in a spectacle that was worth seeing even if the girls in there were pretty run down and the place was a dive.

I pulled a few girls from clubs in Nana plaza area like Rainbow. Bar fine was 600 Baht (about 20 USD) and for total night I gave her 3000 Baht (95 USD).

I dropped into several clubs on Ratchadapisek, I found a stunner from Chiang Mai who spoke no English at Amsterdam (formely known as Champs Elysee). She was 4,100 Baht and get this, they take credit cards! I charged it on my American Express (don't leave home without it). This was a really nice experience that lasted about 90 minutes. Next trip I hope to visit Chiang Mai and maybe Pattaya.

I wondered if you could be a bit more expansive about Embassy Club, since I have no idea what was going on there.

Also I would love to hear more about your Amsterdam experience. I was tempted by a reall looker model who was quoted at 5100 Baht, but I didn't stay and went to another club. Later I regretted not staying.

Having a thread "How to spot a katoey" is a very sensible idea indeed, Mr. Grumpy.

#1 For threads that don't interest you, you don't have to open them at all. Thats a plus until someone posts in the wrong thread.

#2 It is well known the newbies to Thailand do not know how beautiful Katoeys can be , end up being psychologically very disturbed when they find their partner has a dick after already indulging in other things.

#3 Some forum members are absolutely paranoid about katoeys to the extent that one member reported being disgusted by Soi Cowboy being full of katoeys when the truth is that there are very few katoeys in Soi Cowboy (compared to Nana Patong beach, etc.)

#4 Some forum members suggest ridiculous, IMHO, ways of recognising katoeys such as whether they know a certain card game, or how they smell.
So someone is needed to point out sensible katoey traits to watch for.

#5 Most of us can admit to incidents where we were quite slow to come up with the theory that we were probably looking at a katoey on the other side of the room, but still perhaps being unsure.

Is your day spoiled if you don't find something to look down on?
O.K. There will always be a mix forum members, and clearly many will not have anything to offer you, but thats life and can you expect more from a bunch of mongers?
Now your report on TLL was great, so keep up the informative stuff that newbies can learn from.

Embassy was someplace I would avoid, the mamasan quoted me 3000 baht and then as I walked out dropped the price to 1500. So if you do actually find a nice girl there you could probably get a great deal if you are willing to walk out. Only reason I mentioned it here was I was brought there involuntarily by a taxi trying to get his cut. Inside there was a crazy scene with all those guys shouting, pointing and bargaining with the mamasans like it was some kind of middle eastern bazaar.

Amsterdam was nice, it was kind of low key, the girls are there behind a spotlight right near where you sit at a table. Mostly Asian clientèle. You have a drink and decide while an English speaking mamasan will answer questions about the girls and explain the prices. The room itself was nice, with a big jacuzzi and lots of space. The price was a bit steep but I enjoyed the experience.
