The prices are all over the place here. June last year, they charge me R12 entrance and R100/30. June this year I came in speaking Porto and they charged me R12 and only R90/40. A month later, Crazy Jim Wood reported R22 and 100/30. So there is no standard price and I'm willing to bet that you could get an 1 hr for 80 if you tried during a slow time.

Exactly. Beer and softdrinks go against your 3 drinks, but anything else R15. Don't know what the beer/soda charge is if you run through your allotted 3. On the entrance fee, as I have said before, I expect they are trying to raise prices but I'll bet if you had just told them (in Portuguese) "Come on, I know it is R12" they would have looked at each other then and let you pay R12.

You can definitely get 20 and 30 minute sessions. I usually go for 30 minutes just because it puts the girl in a better mood. To be honest, they are not very good with the clock here. Basically if you go for 20 or 30, that just means you get up soon after the session and leave. I have also reported on this strange, lackadaisical attitude. As I said, I think it is because they don't expect to session. You will find, though, that when you become a repeat and they know you are game, they will turn it up a notch or two. I remember when Baihana was there, she would put the moves on big time. But even so, it is still less than say, L'uomo and Centauraus for sure.

Good luck. There is nothing reliable as far as I know. Some girls hang out on the beach around Cesar Park Hotel, on a good day. Late, you can go to some bars (I think somebody mentioned Shenanigans, but I never had any luck there). There are night clubs where the Copacabana girls go when it gets late. Melt and others have a mix of pros and non pros. And there is always Emporium, very late.

The best solution is jump on a bus and go to Copacabana. Or fork out the R450 for Centauras

If you want P4P, when you stay in Ipanema, take a bus to Balcony (or even better to VM).

No, there is no real GP-Bar in Ipanema. However there are plenty of bars in Ipanema, but nothing I would recommend to ho-mongers.

Shenanigans is nice for a portion of Kelly's fries with chilly, but not for mongering.

I don't know about anyone else, but every time I exit a Rio bus, I feel that I have cheated death yet again. With the new metro stop in Ipanema you now can take the metro to Balcony (Cardeal Arcoverde).

just a figure of speech. metro is great if you are near general osorio, but it can be a hassle to get there. but you miss the traffic if you take the metro which can be a huge factor. my favorite, if the traffic is light is to take the r2 minis -- usually they don't get too crazy. however i did get one that was an absolute kamikaze recently. but really, the taxi fare is not that much either.

bottom line, for action in ipanema/leblon forget it unless it is late (after midnight) and that is going to be spotty. if you are up for, try melt -- i know that some of the bets balcony talent go there if they are free. or order take out from karla.

This has been listed as a Tier 2 termas, but it is at the top end of Tier 2 in my opinion. The prices and girl quality are a little below 4x4 but the environment (decor and facilities) are not as good as you would expect in a Tier 1 termas.

Since I am doing a tour of the alternative Centro termas and providing some feedback for others who may wish to venture out, here are my observations on MV30. I hope that this helps prepare MV30-newbies for a visit so at least you know what to expect when you go in. I think it is worth a visit. I’ve been three times in the last week!

1) Location

MV30 is located at 30 Rua Mayrink Veiga (hence the name - MV30) off Rio Branco. The easiest way to get to it is from the Uruguaiana Metro station: take the Presidente Vargas exit from the subway, once on the main road Vargas (which straight ahead of you on exit) turn right and walk down Vargas until you reach Rio Branco. Cross Vargas at the traffic lights and carry on down Rio Branco (towards Praca Maua), stay on the left hand side of Av. Rio Branco. Rua Mayrink Veiga is the third road on the left after crossing Vargas. Turn left here and walk about 200 yards down the road and MV30 is on the right hand side of the road. You can spot it by the neon light over the door that says “MV30” and the guys sitting on chairs outside the door. It will take you 5-10 minutes to get there for Uruguaiana Metro depending on the timing of the traffic lights. I have always arrived at 8ish and there were plenty of people still around the streets on the way home from work. I’ve left between 10 and 11 pm to walk back to the Metro, it has been a lot quieter but everything was ok.

2) Getting in and getting started

Say hi to the old guys in the chairs and go through the glass front door and up the stairs. At the top is the reception desk. The procedure is the same as 4x4, the lady at the desk will give you a locker key and number tag which are on a rubber bracelet. The entry price is not displayed (at least I didn’t see it) but the session prices are clearly displayed. Entrance is R$20 and includes 2 free drinks. Session prices are: R$115 for 30 mins, R$155 for 45 mins, R$195 for 60 mins and R$280 for 90 mins. They also have a 30 minute/2 girl special for R$180. You pay on the way out. It is important to get a little green card from the reception after paying as you have to give that to the guys on the door on the way out. Like most of these places they take credit cards, although I usually pay with cash. Sorry, I forgot to ask about opening hours.

From the reception you will see a set of stairs on the left, upstairs are the showers and session rooms, straight ahead you will see a set of western-style saloon doors which lead into the locker room. On the right are two doorways, the first leads into the bar areas and the second leads into a small bathroom (which can also be accessed from the larger bar area).

In the locker room, the lady will ask you whether you want a robe. You have the option of robing up or going into the bars in your street clothes. When I have been in MV30 the ratio of robed:clothed has been about 50:50. The obvious incentive to robe up is that it is easier for the girls’ hands to wander and play.

Exit the locker room and turn 2nd left (after the toilets), or first right from the reception if you are clothed and don’t have anything to lock away. This brings you into a little connecting room where there is a small sofa and doorways leading into the two bar areas (larger bar straight ahead, smaller bar to the right). Girls usually hang around here to see who is coming in.

3) The termas itself

There are two bar areas. Nobody was smoking in either bar. As with placs like 4x4 and L'uomo, you show the barman your tag number when you order drinks. When I have bought drinks for girls, they have been charged at the same rate as for me - so it lloks like there are no higher drinks prices for girls, at least for beer and sodas.

The larger main bar area has a lot of floor space but not much seating. As you walk in there is a large semicircular bar straight ahead of you with bar stools. There is a small stage with a pole to the right of the entrance (I’ve never seen anybody get up and dance on the stage). Along the right hand wall there are a couple of sofas. Girls usually sit here but it is a good place to make out on a quiet night as well. I have been in here with a girl (Renata) when the room has been empty and things got a bit heated. In the far corner of this wall is a doorway which I guess leads through into the area where the girls change for work etc. To the left of the entrance and along the left hand wall are a couple of tables with bar stools and the other entrance to the bathroom. The music (Brazilian, MPB, some hip-hop) is not too loud so you can make conversation ok.

The smaller bar area is accessed down a short corridor, as you enter the bar is on the right and there is seating all round the room, with small tables spaced at regular intervals. There are a couple of TV screens which have been playing live music DVDs, volume is not too loud so conversation is ok. There is a doorway at the end of the room which leads through into session rooms.

The crowd in MV30 looks like mainly (entirely?) locals. The atmosphere was pretty neutral/friendly, I didn’t get any “what is the gringo doing here” stares. The guys were “better behaved” than 502 in that there is no continual groping of girls as they walk round, MV30 has less of a feeling of a meat-market than 502. Also, unlike the reverse meat-market in 4x4, the girls don’t grab your butt as you walk past!

I’ve been in there on a Monday night, tuesday night and thursday night, the place was progressively busier each night from being fairly empty to being about 1/3 full. It didn’t get as busy as 4x4 does as the evening progresses and as the week progresses.

If you session, the girls will take you to the corridor area leading into the smaller bar, which actually contains a shuttered window to a small room behind the bar. The shutter is drawn almost all the way down so in the darkened light it is difficult to spot it. They book in for the session here, pick up a key to a room and condoms. The first room I had was quite large –bed, whirpool tub and shower/toilet – and accessed from the smaller of the 2 bars. The second room was upstairs and was like your normal 4x4 cabine, smaller with a shower/toilet and not much floor space.

4) The girls

There are a range of types here, from skinny to curvy, big tits, small tits, from no discernible bunda to popozuda. In my opinion most girls were top of the mid-range, a couple of top end stunners, nothing too bad that you wouldn’t consider. Quite a few of the girls I spoke to had worked at 4x4 in the past. I was told that the number of girls working increases from 20 or so at the start of the week to over 40 on Friday. There are a range of ethnicities but most girls there were darker-skinned.

I spoke to a number of girls on my first night, homed in on one particular girl on my second night and repeated with her on my third. Nearly all the girls I spoke too were very friendly and non-pushy for business or drinks. Several of them, even after asking if you wanted to session and being told “not tonight” would still hang around and talk to you (unlike some places – 4x4 and 502 – where they get up and walk off straight away).

The first girl I spoke to was an 18 year old called Milena who had started programma a month earlier, she really was too sweet to drag off to the cabine. I don’t think she had quite learnt how to sell herself as we chatted for about 25 minutes about almost everything except programma. She seemed more interested in finding out about my part of the world. A couple of other girls sat down and joined in the conversation. Two of them kept trying to encourage me to go with Milena – I got the feeling that she hadn’t had a very good client success rate and they were trying to look after her and help her get started in the game (quite motherly!). For a while, a very pretty Bahiana joined in the conversation and was explaining to Milena about the different termas, prices, work conditions etc. The Bahiana (I forget her name) was ex 4x4 and very pretty and I would certainly session with her, she was tall and had one of those biggish bundas that stands up and out when she walks. The two other girls I spoke to, I would have also sessioned with as well, the first, a morena called Gabriella (ex 4x4) spoke a little English, the other girl, whose name I forget, had an amazing popozuda. She always seemed to be busy with other guys so I haven’t had the chance to get hold of her since my first visit.

On my first trip, I deliberately went out with little cash as it was a recce visit – so I could tell the girls I was looking and would come back later in the week (in fact I returned the following night). I had one pushy girl (Claudia) who wanted to session, then said “I’ll come home with you, you can pay me tomorrow”, she seemed a bit pushy which set off a few alarm bells about quality. She said that she sometimes goes down to Balcony after MV30. Anyway, on my second night she did bug me quite a bit and I ended up having to ask her to leave me alone. She went off to sit and sulk wth her arms crossed like a little kid. On my third trip she tended to ignore me, and having seen me go off and make out/session with another girl on my second night started to give me looks that seemed to say “I wouldn’t, even if you gave me a million reals”. Well, the feeling is mutual love, so neither of us is losing out.

On my second night, I was thinking Bahiana or popozuda-girl (both busy talking to others) or Gabriella (couldn’t see her) and then Renata walked into the bar – well, her tits walked in, and then, seconds later, she did. 5) So what are the differences between MV30 and the top-end Termas?

In my opinion, not a lot. I think for the higher prices in 4x4 you are paying for a better environment (bar, cabine) and a much larger selection of girls (with more top-end stunners). MV30 is less crowded and the girls are less pushy than 4x4. 4x4 girls are friendly, chatty and will make out, but also focus more on sealing the deal and walking off is they sense it’s a no go and go work on someone else. In MV30, the girls will hang around and talk and several of them didn’t even bring up the topic of sessioning. Also, quite a few girls will tend to sit/stand around in MV30 so you will have to go up to them to start a conversation.

On the downside, you are not paying much less than you would for a 1 hour session at 4x4 (R$195 vs R$220) and I would guess that they don’t waive the entrance fee for an early session. However, as I have said before, the entrance fees for these Tier 2 termas are much lower and include free drinks so if nothing else you get to drink a few beers, stare at pussy and bunda and chat to girls before heading off to 4x4, Cancun or T65.

However, you may just be distracted by what’s on offer in MV30... I was and have enjoyed a couple of very large distractions there this week... (adopting horrible Austrian monotone) .. I'll be back!

The recent reports on the more obscure termas in Centro and Zona Sul give me some pause about reporting yet again on a few of the popular high-end termas. But perhaps a status update will be of use to those who are presently in Rio. For many reasons, I prefer termas for my mongering. They have, of course, become quite expensive these days; nevertheless, I still prefer the high-end termas experience. During my very recent visit, I visited three different termas. I also plucked a tall girl (Alesandra) from Balcony for a so-so encounter which served to reinforce my antipathy for that scene. Here are summaries of my termas experiences listed from worst to best:

3. Termas 65 - I had enjoyed this place in the past, so I was ready for another visit. I am not one who remembers exact pricing very well, but if my memory is correct, one might get out the door (after a single 40 minute session) for R300. As always I casually bantered with a few of the girls before selecting Jennifer, a rather petite morena. One of the girls told me that the boss had warned the girls not to become overly promiscuous with clients in the boite area, and indeed none of these girls grabbed my dick or cleaned my wisdom teeth with her tongue. I have no idea why management would make restrictions like this, but there was definitely less groping here than in the other termas I visited. The session went very well with Jennifer. She was very accommodating in every way that I wished for her to be. (I never seek penetration of the sewage system -- a little rimming is quite sufficient for me.) Anyhow the visit was quite satisfactory, if not memorable, until I was presented with the bill upon exit. The bar bill was a whopping R42.00. I pressed the receptionist for more details because I had only consumed one Coke and one Skol. And I had purchased only one drink for Jennifer, the girl of my session. It turns out that Jennifer had ordered a vodka and Red Bull cocktail. The price was R14 for the vodka plus R16 for the Red Bull for an eye-popping total of R30. I freely admit that this was bound to happen to me sooner or later. I enjoy purchasing a drink or two for the girls that I choose for a session. And even though similar scams have previously been reported here, I never pay much attention to what a girl orders. But I believe that this is the first time that I have personally been victimized in this manner. I should also report that two of the girls that I had engaged earlier in casual conversation had asked me to buy them a vodka drink as well. I didn't pay much attention at the time, but now I realize that they may have been trying to rip me off as well. Fortunately I seldom buy drinks for girls that I don't engage in a session. 2. L'uomo -- Other than a remodelled relax room. this old favorite has changed little since my previous visit in 2008. I visited early (before 16:00) on a Saturday. The entrance fee was waived, and I also ate dinner there a little later on. Ingrid is still there. She is as firm as ever, although she has grown a size or two since my last visit. Now for cheap skates like me ;-) the interesting part is not that a one hour program is 30% cheaper then an expensive terma. The interesting part is the minimum price, for a 20 minute program. This probably costs 80% less then a top termas. So it would be interesting to report on this.

Even for your visit, you should simply have sessioned a short cheap session, with a girl that might not seem perfect but worth checking out, instead of walking off doing nothing. Wasted your time and outed you as a "pentelho" (pubic hair), a guy that hangs out, gropes, but does not fuck (usually because he does not have the money).


Also the exact opening hours (how early do they open), and phone numbers to clear up any doubts. Finally: I frequent many really cheap places only partially for the low prices, but because they have younger (legal), fresher, less seasoned girls then the "top termas". One of the reasons for that strange fact (that the cheaper places have better girls in my judgment) is that they open during early day time, which I personally find more appealing anyway.
