Girls will get paid less when paid in pesos
No, this is actually my point.
How can a 16 X 1 rate be a good rate for Hong Kong Bar if no-one ever exchanges dollars for pesos there?
If the original question is based on a false premise, why go along with that false premise?
No one brings dollars into HK in order to exchange them for pesos. So who cares if that would be a good rate for HK?
You are right, No one exchange dollars into pesos at HK In the 1 year that I have been going to the zona, I have only seen someone exchange dollars into peso once at the HK bar, just once. They won't exchange pesos into dollars, I've tried.
But here is why it may be good for the owner. Most of the girls cash out in pesos. From my observatoins, I would say it's around 3 out of 5 get paid in peso when they cash out at the north bar. The regular girls ask for dollars. So if they take peso instead of dollars, they get 32 pesos instead of $2 for every drink they sale, netting the bar an extra 6 pesos for every drink. I can't say exactly how girls per day cash out in peso or how many drinks they sold, but if I were to make a estimate, I would say the bar make an extra 1 K dollars on the low end a week doing this.
I have seen girls with 50
Come on 25 fischas a day?
I used to see a girl name britian or brittany at HK, I met her when she first started working at adelitas before going to HK. She told me that on weekends she get like 50 fischas per shift and I believe her too because I used to buy her 2 buckets, 6 bottles in each bucket. 1 for downstairs, 1 to take up to the room. She and my fallen angel told me they get $2 for every bottle, but if they are then paid in peso at HK rates, they are getting less than at the cambios, so the bar does benefit from it. Why they said $2 instead of 34 peso, I can't really say, maybe it was to make it easier for me to understand in terms of dollars.
Also the masero Rene told me that waiters get $30 per shift, if they too are paid in peso at HK rates, the bar would also benefit here. Like I said in the previous post, most of the girls get cashed out in pesos from my observation. If the staff are quoted to getting so much in dollars then paid at HK rates in pesos, HK would definite benefit from it. At their rates, they lose when it comes to people like us who pay in pesos for something quoted in dollars, we can get it at 18+ and pay 16 for every dollar equates to paying only $7. 75-$8 per fischa instead of $9.
They can also benefit from something if it's quoted in pesos but are then paid in dollars by customers. For instance my favorite plate of paella at azul cost 160 pesos on the menu, if I pay that in dollars at their rate, it will cost me $10. But since I get my pesos at the border at 18-18.3, my favorite dish only cost me $8. 74-$8. 89. I've never seen anyone paying in dollars inside azul, but they do inside the bar. All the food that you see being served in the bar is on azul's menu at 160 peso, but at their exchange rate, customers pay $10 inside the bar. HK benefited $1. -1. 25 for every appetizers and every masero is required to sell 4 appetizers per shift. You may not directly exchange your dollars into pesos at HK, but if you bought an appetizer inside HK, you have indirectly exchange $10 for 160 pesos and most mongers pay in dollars. On side note, the free appetizer coupon is the germ covered appetizer you eat off the girls if someone ever wondered. I wish they would bring back the 2 for 1 appetizers coupon.
So, if something or someone is quoted dollars by HK management and then HK paid in pesos at HK rates, HK benefited. If something or someone is quoted pesos (azul) and then they paid in dollars at HK rates, HK benefited. These are the only 2 circumstances that I can think of, in which HK would benefit from the 16/1 rates, payout to staff and food.
