WTF! No alcohol sales and most bars closed for Buddhist holiday
7-11s stopped alcohol sales, and most bars were closed this past Monday and Tuesday due to the Buddhist holiday.
WTF! I wished I would have known about it. Then I would have altered my travel plans. What other holidays do they do that? It would be nice to have a fact sheet to warn people.
Funny story: Casanovy in walking street was the only go-go bar I saw open on the main first level street. The signs were off, but naked girls were still dancing on the main stage. At 9:40 PM, all the naked girls ran off the stage to the back (never knew naked Thai girls in high heels could run that fast). A policeman walked in. They turned off the music and no dancers on stage. I was told by one of the girls to come back at 11:30 PM. About 20 minutes later, as I was about to leave, the girls in bikinis went to the stage, and they turned the music on at half level. The front door was closed, and all the door girls came inside. I stayed since it was one of the few that were opened. At 11 PM, the girls took off their clothes, and it was back to normal. But by that time, all the cute girls were gone (barfined). Oh well, you snooze you lose. No other options to pick up decent looking girls from the go-go bars. Some of the open air beer bars were open, selling cokes and club soda, but I prefer cuter girls from the go-go bars (more expensive, but you only live once).
Then I went to my hotel on Soi 13, and then walked to beach road to see what was around. Yuck! "Diamonds in the rough" LOL! Some people's scale is that a 8 or 9 is a 5 that does it for 500 baht. My scale is a true Bell curve where most of the girls are average (5s) with few 8s and above (Yes I am an engineering geek). There were couple that "weren't ugly", but I went back to my hotel with Mrs. Left and Mrs. Right.
Soapy Dogs, Scarce freshness...

I have to agree that I've never seen high quality in a Pattaya soapy - also service there is shockingly bad (CBJs and so forth). In Sabai Dee soapy, there are two areas for the girls - in the higher end area (2,200 I think, or maybe it was 2,000) kind of hidden away at the back, there are some fairly nice looking girls, though nothing special. All I've had have been poor service.
However I've never been to a Soapy in Bangkok so I can't compare to that. The best Soapy values I've found have been upcountry, mostly in Khon Kaen and Korat.

That's very, very rare in Pattaya, Ronnie, though it does exist. If you're only going for a short visit I'd say you're unlikely to find it, but if you stay a long time you'd eventually run across it once in a blue moon on the Beach Road. But if you really prefer that type you should go to Udon Thani.
