Medellin Reports

My trip ended yesterday and I just had the most amazing time of my life. It surely came at an expense but life is short. So what I helped out a few beauties of Medellin.

The pathetic state of the U.S. economy certainly impacts the relative value of the dollar, but the dynamics are more than meet the eye. More specifically, we are approaching the same model that many countries used during the great depression. And that is a devaluation of their respective currencies.

The U.S. dollar has been, and still is the safe haven currency for the world. Most commodities, such as oil (Colombia is the third or forth largest oil producer in S. America) coffee and cut flowers are all paid for in dollars. The U.S. is reducing the relative value of the dollar so U.S. produced goods will be less expensive and thus create a greater demand. While the cost of Colombian pussy is greater with a weak dollar, U.S. manufactured goods are less expensive for Colombians.

The U.S., we all agree must get its financial house in order. Which segment of the society will be called upon to make the most sacrifice is where the rubber meets the road. Unquestionably, in the last 20 years the percentage of wealth owned by the top 2 or 3 percent has grown exponentially. What is inexplicable to me is the notion that increased revenue via fees and taxes are required for equilibration is lost on the conservatives. At bottom, over 70% of U.S. Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is from consumer spending. The average citizen in the U.S. is up to his or her eye balls in debt. And all of this consumption was "on credit." So, our stuff has to be cheap enough to sell to the world. That's why we have an ever decreasing dollar. We can't buy "their" shit anymore. We're broke!

To the critics: Guys what does it matter what John pays? He's clearly impressed with Medellin for his first trip and perhaps overtly so, but we all been there. In any case, what he chooses to pay the other girls is his business and in the end inconsequential.

Financial markets demonstrates that:

1. When a trader offers a rogue price, he either gets swallowed up by sharks until he's out of liquidity, or provides provides so much liquidity that a new market equilibrium is reached.

2. History have shown that it's impossible to stem the progress of information. No matter what you do, you can't stop a unfamiliar noob from making pricing mistakes in a new market, and if there's enough of them, eventually it moves the market. So if anything you should encourage them to figure out what the fair price is and get there quickly. Noobs either quickly learn that they're throwing money away or that they're really paying a new "fair efficient" price and vets have to pony up or go elsewhere.

Look we all want things back the way they were 3 or 5 years ago, where the streets are lined with hundreds of beautiful and cheap chicas whether in Medellin or Costa Rica. But the simple fact is that they will never be the same, and you should just get over and accept it.

Currency fluctuations are far more complex than some selective articles on broad macro-economic policies.

Any suggestions to whether U.S is still a dominant global player are largely ridiculous. Emerging market currencies generally tend to do well against time assuming they're regulated by the free market because they can develop at a faster rate than an already developed country.

Some evidence to U.S still being an economic superpower:

1. Look how far stock markets tumble back when U.S was in deep recession/crises, vs. how far the're currently tumbling when Europe countries are in a far deeper crisis.

2. Observe the spot rate historical trends between U.S and established currencies such as GBP and EURO.

I will go ahead and post my report as I think it is in best interest of the board and who cares what few member thinks......
