That is when you had to deposit the card into the reader on the last trip. I did notice that sometimes two trips would be deducted when I only used it once. I think the readers were too sensitive and if you didn't move the card completely away from the reader, it would deduct another ride. Then they changed to loading monetary amounts, and the user kept the card, even if there was no money on it. As the prices went up, the card was not good for the number of trips as when loaded. Now, I load the card with 20 mil and use it as a debit card for rides. I still use the old ViajeMetro card.

That was very good because the ATM rate that day was not much more than 4000/1. When you exit the baggage claim area, there are some doors to the right to the sidewalk where you can get an official airport taxi. They are white taxis. I think the fare to Medellin is 90,000. It may be 80,000, but it is set by the government, so don't get scammed. Verify the fare with the driver before leaving the airport. The tolls are included in the fare. I have heard that some drivers try to charge extra for the tolls. If you go, enjoy your trip. The robberies and drugs are not a big problem, more hype than actual. Use common sense.

There is more left of Stonehenge than there is of the Plaza Botero fence. I miss it in unanticipated ways. Now that only a few pieces of it are left, the street vendors are again clogging the area beneath the metro overpass from the Nutibara all the way to Parque Berrio. When the fence was still there they were made to stay on the street side of it. It's not fun dodging speeding bicycles and inattentive pedestrians that dart out from behind the racks of junk. I also miss the entertainment of watching undercover police point out people for the uniform agents to pat down. Mostly though it's like it was never there to begin with. Time marches on.

If you want cheaper but quick rides to MDE from the airport, walk a couple hundred feet further away from the terminal's taxi stand, you will find a couple shared taxis, collectivos, waiting. They take 4 passengers to Commercial Center San Diego for 20 M cops or $5 each. That plaza looks like a transportation hub. Most people get off there.

From there he drove me to my hotel way down near Santa Fe mall for another 20 M Cops. He said the rides never exceed 40 M Cops for any one.

There are also buses to hotel Nutibara / Plaza Botero, but I am not sure how long the wait.
