My Return to Medellin, or something like that!
I returned to Colombia on July the 8th, and it was an eye opening experience for me. I found a really cheap ticket on Copo airlines so I bit. I will never fly through Panama again unless I fly in first class. They put me off at station 116 and my connecting flight was at station 224. That was the longest freaking walk through an airport that I ever had. I had an hour and a half layover and it took me an hour and 10 minutes to walk through that many stations.
Then I flew from Panama to Medellin, about a 45 minute flight. I think about 3 flights landed at the same time and the colombian migracion people were really going to stick it foreigners about the drop in the value of the pesos, LOL. They only had one person scanning people in on both sides. I landed at 10:30 pm and I didn't leave the airport until 1:45 am. Then the BS really hits as soon as I walked out of the airport. The taxis and the the uber wanted between 140 mil to 160 mil to take me to Medellin. I finally found a taxi of my liking and paid the dude 150 mil.
I have a really good relationship with the people whom I rent my secondary apartment from so I had set it up the rent the apartment for the night and they were waiting on me and helped me with my bags and stored my bags for about 5 days, all for 100,000 pesos.
I hit the ground running and I had a few dates already set up even at 2:30 am in the morning. I returned to Bogota's airport, checked in and then flew from Bogota to Cucuta. I rented a really nice hotel in Cucuta and the rooms were only $40 usd a night and the rooms had a living room, a business room with an area to work in and then the master suite had a bathroom with jacuzzi. It was really nice. I wound up in Cucuta because I sent to Venezuela for chic I had been banging for like 5 years ago and I had bought her passage back to Venezuela right before Covid hit. Just like clock work, she was there in Cucuta waiting on me. I had her Cedula number, and I asked the hotel before I rented it, were Venezuelans allowed on the property because some of these hotels can rent to whom they want, they had no problem renting to Venezuelans as long as they had a cedula and was of age. Medellin Trip Report July 2022
I spent 9 days in Medellin and overall had a great time. Transportation to / from the airport was 90 mil plus 10 mil tip. Book through [URL]https://acoataxiaeropuerto.com.co[/URL]. The ride to Laureles or Poblado was about 30 min, beautiful view getting into the city.
Laureles area is more popular with locals, the area by La 70 is party town. If you want an area that's a bit quieter look for Segundo Parque de Laureles, better restaurants are found there too. I prefer a more upscale environment so I only stayed in San Peter 2 days, but it was clean and safe, but noisy and small for my taste.
Poblado is popular with tourists, Provenza has plenty of nightlife and coffee shops to mingle with locals too. Lleras park is surrounded by bars and nightclubs with hustlers trying to get you to come inside to spend, I didn't go for it. Many other rooftops appeal to upscale customers, like Sky Bar, I visited the place and thought it was a nice spot to bring a date. Restaurants are plenty as well, Rocoto was a good pick for Peruvian food, I saw some mongers or sugar daddies catering to their girls there. If I'm back in Medellin I will stay in the Energy Living building again, to me it was worth the price and girls loved taking pictures from the balcony.
Girls, I only made picks from Facebook and Instagram. It's a lot of work but if you score gold you can score big. Lastly, safety. In my view, while outside the Airport or In La 70, or Poblado, day or night, I never felt unsafe and no one ever made me feel threatened. I didn't go to El Centro so I'm not the one to ask there. Transportation I used Uber and walked and again, no issue. There are cops everywhere and they don't bother you, I imagine that could change if you like attracting trouble.
I felt sadness when I headed to my departing flight back to the US, not just because the cheap action, but because the place has a magical power. I'm not sure if it's the Guacamayas flying freely in the sky or the great weather I experienced, could be that all girls smile and smell great, the music making you want to dance or the great coffee waking you up. I can see how this land has inspired great literature, see Gabriel Garcia Marquez. I will be back.
