I keep in touch with my previous non hooker girlfriends. I know few who got married to guys in different countries. Norway, Sweden, USA, Iceland.
None are happy. They say they thought their husbands are rich and they can have a happy life. Many live in isolated farms and hand to mouth existence. Husbands want wife to work. All have children from previous marriages. All expect frequent sex. And taken care of like a servant. Couple of girls just moved back because of totally depressed and did not get any money when they left.

More Pinays are conned and taken advantage of than the other way around. A low life may elevate his status in Philippines but returns home the same.
Once a low life always a low life.
Many think you are a foreigner therefore you are rich, therefore you will support their family in the Philippines (and the family expect that to). Then realize the westerner won't, does not care and does except wife to work as this is the norm for many and culturally expected.
Some do OK many don't I am sure. Some guys lie and only let them see the real deal once married and in the 'home' country where for many they are stuck in the trailer. Of some of the girls I know I see the husband's Facebook page and the guy loves his hunting shooting fishing etc, has many friends I would consider low life yet when I asked the girl about it she had conveniently forgotten to see that. Why? As he was a foreigner and 'rich' (well he earns more than 100 pesos a day) thus he would get her out of the bigger shithole she was living in prior to meeting him.
Other girls have jobs are more settled but it has taken time and both sides need the patience to understand what is going on.
Some use Facebook to boast to their friends and family about there new life showing all the new things – it makes them jealous back in the Philippines which the girl likes – but if / when it falls apart and they return to the nest the family / friends will likely crap on them as DG says (and they are seen to loose 'face') - this has happened to two I know.
But we are also guilty of fanning the flames in our own ways, feeding the expectations etc. So is not one way by any means.
In my work environment and after 20+ years living here in Phils I can honestly say that I have been able to meet a plethora of "educated, middle class people" (women and men) and I can categorically say that they are uniformly exceptional workers who would match it with any other professionals in any other part of the world. The IT geeks (men & women) are very talented.
There are about 230,000 people from the Philippines in Australia. While some of them have come as mail order brides, the vast majority have arrived as skilled migrants. This covers nurses, engineers, care givers, IT specialists, accountants and admin people. While RK says they are exceptional workers, my experience in Australia has been that they are just average workers. They follow instructions very well and usually get the job done, but they are not trailblazers. They don't use their initiative to take the solution to the next level and prefer just to stick to the bosses exact instructions. Nothing more, nothing less. This explains why most are in junior or mid-level positions and very rarely (if ever) rise to senior management ranks. They also lack the confidence to lead.
One thing that is uniform across Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines is that most people lack intellectual curiosity. They aren't taught to question things and aren't encouraged to seek knowledge or wisdom beyond what is placed in front of them. For example, if I was to say that I circumnavigated the world in a flying saucer, a Pinay would reply "have you eaten lunch yet?" A westerner would want to know all about the voyage.
Compare this to the Chinese or Indians who have a greater ability to deal with logic, solve problems and be enterprising. This explains why commerce in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines is dominated by people of Chinese origin and the ethnic people are just the workers.
Husbands want wife to work.
Of course he wants her to work. He's not stupid. He knows what happens to a Pinay when she is stuck at home. She gets fat eating fast food and sugary treats, is glued to FB and WhatsApp 24/7, becomes lazy and is always looking to ensnare another white cock in her honey trap simply because she's bored.
Working gives her some independence and confidence, improves her English/Swedish/Norwegian, brings in some money and she has no time to get bored and whinge.
I do wonder how those Pinays cope in winter in Norway, Sweden or Pittsburgh. LOL.
A wealthy, intelligent, educated man of style and status is hardly going to marry a Pinay hooker and take her to his home country and parade her around as his wife. LOL But then how would she know that?
There's two forms of low life. The first is us mongers who just go to the Philippines, root and return home without promising anything. Then there's those that go there, make promises and take the hooker to their home country. As Jordan Peterson always asks, "Is she better off than her grandparents?

If he saves up all year to fund two weeks of 5 star hotels, limo transfers and mega bar bills then she gets the impression that this is the norm for him. Who is in the wrong: her for being money hungry or him for not managing expectations?

Say what?
There's two forms of low life. You went, you enjoyed where it was legal, didn't make any promises or lead anybody on. Why the low life? Seems to me this is just buying into the feminazi bullshit.

Just watch 90-day Fiancee LOL! I remember watching a program several years ago about so-called "mail order brides". This American loser got this really hot, 20-something, blonde Russian woman to marry him. So, they're on the program being interviewed. Sitting in his dark, dingy apartment, with his "Frigidaire" from the 1950's in the background, and his fat mom sitting at the table in the "kitchenette" in a robe wearing hair curlers. The loser seemed content, but the Ruskie was clearly and obviously just miserable! Not what she envisioned when she dreamed of moving to America under the sponsorship of a "rich" westerner.

I told her that she could come for 90 days on a fiancee visa. I had an extra car so I would teach her to drive and sign her up for English class. She told me it would be better for my family (that I would not even attempt to count how many members) to come to Colombia and for us to get married before she came to my city. I told her that it would be stupid to commit to a place that you have never visited and a lifestyle you had no idea of. From that we broke up.
She needs to do some navel gazing here. What exactly is she bringing to the relationship apart from a tight, sweet pussy?
That is any woman. I am mostly on the Latin American dating site and whenever a chick talks about wanting to get married I ask what do you have to offer. That question goes right over their heads. They all ask what that means. I interpret that as them looking for someone to make their lives easier and them not giving a shit if they could or have anything to reciprocate.
She needs to do some navel gazing here. Pussy prices.

Yet they can charge outlandish prices for simply being given a protein shake. Trike drivers pay maybe 100 pesos max and yet £100,100 $ or 100 euros won't get you Jack Shtt in the West.
Look at Coca Cola. They sell the same product world wide and it is as affordable in the Philippines as it is in the USA. Why should snatch be different?
