Hi,

Some of the massage places which have been recommended do not exist anymore. I'm interested in some good recommendations about special massage places in Phnom Penh. Every PM is appreciated.

I've been to Cambodia 3 times back in 2005, 2007 and 2009. I enjoyed to pick up freelancers from Sharky's, Martini and sometimes the Walkabout.

I also enjoyed to go to the brothels that cater to the locals (I believe they are called 'knock shops' as well), like the ones on Preah Trasak Paem not far from the Walkabout.
I've had some nice sessions there with mostly Vietnamese girls, although I have to say that in 2009 'barangs' were not that welcome anymore due to the 'war on prostitution' started by the NGOs and the service had gone down.

However I was wondering if these 'knock shops' are still around (I guess they are) and if it's still worth going there.

There are a lot of reports about the hostess bars and disco's nowadays but they are just not my thing. I never liked the hostess bars and I'm too old for the noise they call music in the disco's.

I am not holding my breath, but it will be interesting to see if she keeps her word. I have a lot of pent up desire for this girl.

On the Darling Darling FL scene: I have taken some heat from some here on the forum over the prices I paid. I am just reporting on the current scene. Don't get mad at the messenger. The fact is Phnom Penh is growing up and becoming more like other Asian cities like BKK, Manila, and Jakarta. Darling Darling is following a business plan that resembles Brix, Bats, CJ's, and Spasso. They are very successful. The bar is packed every night with well heeled Asian tourists, businessmen, gamblers, and connected locals. On some nights it was hard to find a seat in the bar. I saw some scenes that might disturb some of you guys like Asian punters at a large table surrounded by up to 8 to 10 beautiful Khmer chicks and bottles of whisky.

So Darling Darling is targeting the new affluent segment of Phnom Penh red light society. This bar and its business plan is not going away. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see more bars like this one sprout up. What I liked about Darling Darling was the number and quality of the girls and their no fucking around attitude. No girl was on her "mens" here. Yes, the price was high especially, if compared to the old Phnom Penh or the hostess bars. And yes, some Darling Darling girls will migrate over to Pontoon after 2:30 am or so. If one is willing to delay gratification until then and accept the luck of the draw, the price will be much less at Pontoon. Also two of my three Darling Darling girls morphed from ST to LT at no additional charge after our first night's sessions together. So these are still very nice girls IMHO and once they get to know you, they are much more accommodating.

Lastly, it should be noted, that Phnom Penh is still golden for ex-pats living here. For regulars, there is virtually no hostess girl that will not shag them unless the dude suffers from a personality disorder or something. The girls (hostess girls, Darling Darling girls, Pontoon girls, Golden Sorya girls) will constantly call and drop by their apartments at all hours of the day and night. Ex-pats do not pay barfines except in rare situations and the rates the girls offer them are ridiculously low regardless of where the girl works.

So this is the scene as I found it in March 2014. There is no use crying over spilled milk. The good old days are not returning. Phnom is still a lot of fun and Khmer girls are still very nice to spend time with. They possess unique personalities and can be quite fetching. The Oasis girl I was referring to in my original post bears an uncanny resemblance to a certain Khmer girl we both know that works in Suzi Wong in BKK. They could be cousins. The Oasis chick promised she would boom boom me when I return to Phnom Penh. I am not holding my breath, but we shall see.

I love the girls and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. I spending time in Phnom Penh and Sihanoukville. Nevertheless, many ISG seniors writes about the "good old days" in the East "Wild West".

My question now is, where in the world can you experience something similar as it was in Cambodia at that time?

There was a particular historical chain of events that occurred in Cambodia in the later half of the 20th century that made Phnom Penh great. I don't think the Cambodians want to go through all that again.

There are still some great places to go to. They may or may not be as good as they used to be. They are all more expensive than they used to be. There is a natural cycle in the world where places start out great, get discovered, become exploited, and then fall back into a kind of normal average or still worse close down completely. BKK, Jakarta, Pattaya, AC, and Manila fit into the former category. ChangPing fits into the latter category. So enjoy what there is today because who knows what tomorrow will bring. I know of no new unexploited places resembling what Phnom Penh or AC or Pattaya used to be like. The world is getting smaller and smaller. Perhaps new places will emerge or old places will be reinvigorated after the next world wide depression or world war. The question is will we be in a position to enjoy this new renaissance of poontang when it occurs or will we be in bread lines trying to survive. 555.

Avoid butterfly bar.

For one thing the managers prefer Cambodians over barang to a point of xenophopia. Second the girls are all.

Exclusively originals-meaning they not go with customer- and the managers are all family -so the managers not.

Care if costumer have enjoyable time at all. Period. However if you like to have nice time I suggest bar on 136 right next to barbados-good convesation and very cute and willing girls- don't waste your time at butterfly. Unlesss you have plenty of it.

Wide choice of girls in a wide variety of places. These are not easily accessible by tourists or even those who are not familiar with Khmer socializing and speak a little Khmer. Bar fines mostly do not exist in this world, although if there is a mama she will always appreciate a little tip for making an arrangement. I rarely negotiate in the classic meaning of that. I am essentially "dating" a girl and provide her with an appropriate gift. Sometimes a real gift, not just cash. Something from $30 - $50. Girls are DD quality or better. Some are university students, many work at a regular day job. Most I have met are genuine sweeties.

I speak Khmer (badly, mostly). I admit I tend towards high end places mostly frequented by Khmer. But I also occasionally drop in to some lovely places that are lower on the entertainment scale here. There's some great places a little out of PP along the river. A very different group of young hens in these places, and the appropriate gift is much cheaper.

I cannot remember the last time I went to any place in riverside or Street 51. Low grade tourist traps hold no interest for me and I have no reason to even drive through this area of town.

No offense to you punters who like to breeze into these areas. Each to his own. I am just confirming what others have written. Those of us who live here can find PP a really exceptional place for variety and quality of ladies. I feel very lucky. I have lived in several other Asian cities. Right now, PP is pretty damn good.

I am not a tourist in Asia, just not that often in PP. So provide some better info with exact places as there is not always a need to speak Khmer as long as your looks and behavior are above average and you dressed up when go out for the night.
