Thanks.[/QUOTE]Would suggest getting the Niyo card (google it, I have used it extensively across 2-3 countries with great results), they have 0% forex charge (at least nothin on top of what Visa charges as standard, the 3-3. 5% others have mentioned is usually on top of Visa / MC exchange rate, so you are basically getting it at 0% Niyo and other Indian debit cards will however have a flat fee per withdrawal as well, so check your card rates before you go. The flat fee makes it better to withdraw larger amounts to avoid the fee through repetitive withdrawals of smaller amounts. You could leave excess cash in hotel safe.

So it's a trade off between higher fee vs. Being left with excess foreign cash, but you can figure that out based on some estimation of your expense requirements.
