Very very few tourists go to Aranjuez, Manrique, etc. Rice Rocket has a great system down and I enjoy his posts, but I wouldn't recommend most of my fellow hobbyists to do the same. If you speak Spanish and live there and are street wise that's a different thing.

I booked my first trip to Colombia today. I'll be there September 3-17. I'm starting a spreadsheet to list things I might need while there. I'd appreciate feedback on things that you didn't think of, but would have been useful on your trips. For example, we've seen a lot of discussion here lately about "bombillos". Do you bring snacks from home so that the girls can experience something from your home country? If so, what do you find is really popular with them? I've seen people mention bringing small gifts from like a Five Bellow, what did you buy there? Once complete, I'd be happy to share the spreadsheet with any board member who'd like it.

I have been following you (enviously) since your decision to buy an apartment in Bello, but I also agree that you should explain your situation as a disclaimer so newbies do not mistake it for something they can pull off. I you should have a generic disclaimer about your being fluent in Spanish and maybe you know more what to expect and since you are around Colombians more you know better how to carry yourself etc but by all means keep the posts coming I am very interested in these barrio areas.

He is just writing his adventures, if you are too dumb to figure out that you should not be in the barrios if you don't live here or speak decent Spanish, well then that is on you sirs.
