All in all I would describe my Facebook contacts at the moment as probably 80% fake. It's not that hard to get phone numbers from the girls and start conversations. But I guess the best advice is was Osteo just said: maybe just approach a girl. I've never considered doing that because I generally just don't approach strangers and start talking to them. But I guess Medellin is just different and I guess with a little charm, a lot of doors open.

Facebook can be great especially once you build up decent list and they start adding you. Ultimately Facebook, like the ground game is a numbers game until it's not (they are numbers until you get to know them and find you have a good connection). Talk to a bunch and narrow down your options. Keep adding and keep talking if you are not happy with the options you have. I keep talking to and get interested in meeting chicas that 1) meet my looks criteria 2) respond to me relatively promptly and can maintain a good flow of communication 3) don't ask me for anything before I meet them 4) seem interesting if I talk to them extensively. I consider myself a relative MDE newbie (two trips, total of four weeks) and have mostly done Lleras, some street girls and FB. My Spanish is very beginner so I think I'm a bit limited doing cold approach until I improve that but I'm fascinated by the idea of it in MDE.
