I checked out one place near the Sheraton yesterday that has been mentioned here before. It is a few hundred meters to the right of the Sheraton exit. I've only been to Hanoi on quick visits during the last couple of years and I have not had time to do a careful recon for good freelancer bars. Seventeen on Tran Hung Dao often has some, and you can sometimes get lucky at Relax Bar, 60 Ly Thuong Kiet, but in general the pickings are very slim.
