Aloka - Dehiwala (Nedimala) is closed for good, and the Boralagussmulla place has only two girls, I inquired about the situation and I was made to understand that steps have been taken (bribes paid??) to ensure that it is not raided again and that it is safe and I should come, but I am not willing to take the risk to go to this place in the near future also since most of my favorite girls have left the place anyway, this used to be my favorite SPA but now I would not even consider going at least till I hear different.

I could not agree with you more, this is something I feel deeply about, yes even if a SPA is engaged in some shady operations the customers should not be harraased unless they are actually caught in the act with a witness. If a place is proved to be a brotel not a SPA it should be closed permanantly period, but this is not the case due to the corruption that has spread like a cancer.
The same is true for an army officer flagging down a vehicle (normally army cannot interact with civilians) and checking personal belongings but this emergency law circumvents all this rights of the civilian.
Oh I do hope there is a silver line to this dark cloud.

According to Sri Lanka law, EVEN IF one is caught having sexual intercourse with a prostitute, the customer has not committed any offense if it is in a private place like a house. It is an offense if this is done in a public place such as a car parked on a public road.

In a few other countries like Sweden, the customer can be charged if he PAYS for sex, but this is NOT a crime in Sri Lanka.

Thanks a lot Tea Boy for the clarification, just wondering if there are any forum members who are lawyers or 100% familiar with the local law situation with respect to emergency law, I am sure all mongers will benefit form a little advice of what are the implications if we are caught in a raid, I know that under emergency law they can detain you at the police station for some 24 hours (or is it 48 hours) or so but should it be a court case CAN the customer be sentenced to imprisonment? the possibility of spending time in Welikada is unthinkable to me.

Two weeks back I had to drive past this prison and knowing that most of the girls at Al* were doing time there while I was driving by sent shivers down my spine.

BUT one famous MP situated in Kollupitiya coming under TEP 3 or TEP 4, and one brothel type place also mentioned as TEP3 or TEP 4

Seniors, please come to the correct conclusion on this issue

Fun Boy,

The purpose of using these abbreviations is to ensure that we do not unnecessarily give out information which could be useful to LE in their war against mongering. If any genuine monger wants clarification on the exact location of a place mentioned in a post, they can PM the poster. So I don't see a problem here.

One thing to bear in mind is that there are several branches of LE. There are the individual Police Stations, and also there are one or more Vice Squads. There is, I understand, a Vice Squad for the whole of Colombo and suburbs, and there is a Mirihana Vice Squad which also raids outside the Mirihana area.
In some cases, a TEP may have "squared things" with the local Police Station, but not with the Vice Squad. This may be the case with TEP 1.

I know I have not contributed anything to Sri Lanka, because this is my first time. However, I have contributed to place I have visited.
First Question: Will I go to jail trying to have a good time in Sri Lanka.
Second Question: Are there any guides or should I just ask a taxi driver.
3rd: Are there any upscale places.
4th: Is Sri Lanka a good place for foreigners or is it only open to locals?
