Medellin Reports

Those of you who follow me will recognize some of these.

The first foto, the sisters in Cucuta. That was before I had a beard and was not dyeing my mustache and my hair was still short. I don't plan on going for it, but at first blush, it almost seems like if you started your own Web site about Medellin or Colombia with the right cultural interest and focus, and could pay yourself the minimum income requirement, you could get a "digital nomad" visa. BTW, I have no idea what I am talking about, jajajaja but maybe I will start my own Web site.

However, I get the impression that the Cultural Ministry of Colombia or whatever it's called is not looking to promote mongering, jajajaja.

So I impulse bought a plane ticket to Bogota and then Medellin before even researching anything. I've spent the last couple days researching and booking hotels and so far my Medellin stay is covered with Hotel Dix in El Poblado and hotel Quinta Avenida in Laureles.

I have a few questions that I would appreciate if could be answered as there is so much info on many different websites and its becoming overwhelming plus not knowing if the information is up to date.

I have downloaded the Medellin map and there are a lot of locations in El Centro to ignore. Is it safe to walk down El Centro streets during the day going to all these locations without much issues with safety as long as I am careful or should I be taking a uber to these locations?

Are all the other locations outside of El Centro safe during the day? If you guys have recommendations of good value for money / great locations I would appreciate it.

I have seen a few independent escort advertising sites with good prices and I was wondering if people have had good experiences with these sites and also if staying at a love motel would they be required to give ID upon arrival to lower the chance of being drugged? I would be more inclined to try the site if the love motels require ID for the lady before entering the property after I check in.

I know two guys that got them this year and they were only issued for a year versus three years under the new regulations. Also, regardless of the Visa you obtain, you must have Colombian Health Insurance, and that's a whole topic in itself.

And there is no longer a way someone can show up with approximately 250,000 $ USD, invest the money in a business or property, and within six months be a Colombian resident. Residency now requires being in Country five years before you can even apply for residency.

In your case, perhaps they will issue you a special "Mongering Visa."

I think I failed at my Facebook attempts for my week vacation.
