Pretty sure it was a gang / organized crime from the USA who is looking for someone they knew was hanging out at the local bars that night. Makes no sense why the Cartel would send someone to this area, they could easily just send the people to the person's house and get it done clean there. Most likely a target was hanging out (probably at HK) and they got word of it somehow and were waiting for the guy to come out to blast him.

The 2 guys are likely Mexican Americans. They went to San Diego to buy these weapons and just got back to Tijuana. That may be $5 K dollar worth of weapons, with ammo drums and sniper scopes, so they have a serious beef they wanted to settle.

I would just hate it if it comes to having to wear armor vests and steel helmets just to hang out and fuck around with Tijuana chicas.

I was kidding. The correct term is "A friend of ours." In the mob movie, Donnie Brasco, Al Pacino was teaching Johnny Depp how the Mafiosos call each other "A friend of ours."

At the end AL found out Johnny Depp was actually an undercover FBI agent collecting evidence to implicate his mob bosses. His bosses called him in for a meeting on Christmas eve. He knew he fucked up big time trusting and letting Johnny Depp infiltrate, and he was gonna get whacked. So he just quietly took off his wedding ring and his wallet and left them in his drawer, calmly kissed his wife good bye like nothing was going to happen, then went off to his bosses to meet his fate.

Anyway these 2 shooting guys looked pretty old in the pic. They probably bought the weapons for the cartel, and just happened to drive by Coahuila, not necessarily trying to shoot some guys in the bar block. The turista cop saw something suspicious, flagged them down, got shot to death. They had a gun fight with Policia Federale, so they are pros, not amateurs. This is the first time I knew of a shooting incident involving assault rifle in La Zona. I hope it will not escalate with heavier weapons so we can have a reasonably good time in La Zona with the chicas.

Lots of Tijuana chicas have Asian BFs, more so than other races.

And to unincentivize this further, the exchange rate was like high 16's to low 17's per US $. Per two cambios I talked with, the banks or something haven't shipped them pesos since last week, so there is a severe shortage on the US side.

Solution. Cross the border and exchange in Tijuana at around 18.3:1. Glad I waited.

Today's official exchange rate on the world market is exactly 19.29 pesos per $1 US. I know the casa de cambio is not too far behind that. That rate sucks compared to what is really given.

It is a terrible rate. It was 18.75 ish when I was there in mid-Sept and the real rate is like 19.3:1 as stated by others. They said it would go back to normal rates once they got their pesos restocked which I infer to mean that they purposely created such a terrible "compra" rate + limit on the amt you can exchange to ration the scarce pesos they have left. Just didn't realize casas de cambio would do that.
