I actually ventured out in that area on 13th August around 10 pm to find out where NL is, more than anything else. Reached [email]H@riKish[/email]@[email]nD@s[/email] Hospital as directed by a friend earlier on this forum. Walked around for about 30 minutes but could not locate with full confidence which street was NL indeed. However, walking straight up the road (in a direction such that the hospital would be on my right) and taking a left, I could see a few bars on either side with the orchestra so loud that the music could be heard outside (wonder if I was on NL only. Someone help me here). For reference, I think one of them was called S0n|. I was tempted to go in, but though it was worth looking around first. Walking further on the same road, there was a police man laughing away merrily with a few guys. I was surprised then I noticed that there was police chowki bang in the middle of these 4-5 bars. And then there was more police and an entire police van but all happy and laughing. The bar business was going on as usual with not a line of worry on any gatekeepers face. I did not what to make out of all this, what was the police doing there, what were these bars. Pickup, service or just normal ones? I was curious but did not go inside, this being first venture to the area. Of course, common sense said that these police men if anything are protecting the bars but I though lets save it for another day.

In the spirit of exploring the area further, I started to walk towards K bridge to see what that is like. It was very silent & I seemed to be the only customer around. There were a lot of men sitting outside the houses and probably trying to solicit customers. And as I exited the street, bang there was another policeman & chowki! Then I walked to L road and asked a guy, where the station is. He told me but asked "aur Kuch Chahiye"? Tempted again, but again didn't want to risk it, this being my first trip.

Not really sure if this is the usual scene at all these places or a result of LE action?

Can anyone give a first hand report on the status of dance bars / OB in Panvel. Are they up and running,

Ex. Kapal, Gopitka, Sun city, etc. I heard they were to be up and running by Aug 10th or so. How about the ones in Belaphur, ex. Manorama?

I am seriously considering a trip out there! I don't want to waste my time if they are not up and running!

Your best bet is to check out nightclubs, ex. Voodoo in Colaba, or the dance bars / Orchestra Bars in.

Diasher (North suburbs) or the ones in Panvel (if they are running) or Belaphure, both these two locations.

Are in Navi Mumbai, a 1. 5 hr. 2 hr commute from the airport going east! Anything I missed?

I was once taken By an SP to the L road joint from NL but don't remember it. Can someone give me the directions to it from the NL road joint. Please keep in mind tht I am not familiar with the roads there but know the NL from the Vanita Vishram side.
