With my surprise, the ATM started giving me money. I was so hungry because I thought I had lost 7. 5% of 1. 520,000 COP = 114 k but instead there was a good surprise. The Charles Schawab transaction was 345.09 USD and it corresponds to a rate of 4404 very close to the Google 4435.

I do not have an explanation, but, apparently, if you refuse the proposed exchange rate with a 7. 5% margin, then Davidienda gives up, and makes the correct job. I do not have a better explanation, Do you?

I think in countries like Colombia, where the peso is in decline, it is almost always better.

If I remember correctly, accept the ATM fee and then decline the conversion rate.

It is the same thing here in Brazil where I currently am. I go to ATM to pull money out and they always ask if I want to go with their conversion or not, of course I declined and get what CS exchange rate is.

Also keep in mind, when paying for anything like food, groceries, etc, the cashier asks if you want peso / dollar, always go with or pay with the country's currency as in peso in Colombia, not dollar. Your credit card / bank will do the exchange rate close to current rate.

If you look at the Google exchange rate for Thursday (if you can), it should be right about 4404.
