An engineer that I worked with had family there, they had a lot of problems adjusting to put it mildly.

I know one married her 'dream man' who ended up in a trailer in the middle of Oregon. The same trailer where his parents lived LOL They then had her milking cows or something like that. Great dream? Her way to keep warm was to go to the nearest town and bang any suitor who liked her (plenty there trust me) until she got the green card and then divorced the dream man and found something better and warmer LOL.

I know another in Finland who husband bought her new susus (IE boobs) that look very nice. He keeps her warm by buying her a very fancy Merc sports car plus other things so she is happy despite the cold but took her 2 years to get used to the chill.

Watched a couple of episodes of 90 day fiance; some were from PI. It is pretty sad but enlightening.

It would have been surprising had she not gone into town to milk and ride random cowboys bareback. Pinas never really adapt to the cold, nor do people of African ancestry. OTOH, I have Northern European ancestry, grew up in the cold and have trouble adjusting to the heat.

Scientific study suggests that human tolerance of severe weather is acquired, rather than innate, ability. Genes have no influence.

The first one has the novelty factor, but by the second one they decide to move back to Brazil.

Having said that, my ex (engineer with MBA from top school working for Mckinsey) is in Madrid bracing for her second winter. Time will tell.
