Many years ago as a young civil engineer I worked in Egypt. The country use to get a lot of income from tourists and you were continually being pestered by locals who wanted to part you from your money. Eventually we got some T-shirts printed with a slogan on the back in arabic that said ' I'm not a tourist I live here'.

I don't really see the point of cutting the fun short just to save a few bucks if she is giving you a good time in the club (I talked from the point of view of someone who doesn't go in these places too often, not for people who go there often and already know which girl they like or not).

I suspect this "no price haggling" Japanese customer concept indeed has a built-in assumed limit or we'd see even more haggling going on between the girls in Thermae and Japanese customers than we do already, no?

My guess and this is only a guess is that Japanese tip as tipping follows more of a culture than what happens in their own country. If I go to Hong Kong I will never tip more than 5-10% as that is the norm there (or at least it was when I last visited HK). If you go to Canada the tipping culture is way out of hand. Many tip buttons on CC machines are now set to 18% minimum. Tip less than 25% and you get a dirty look. When did tipping change from tipping because you were happy and had good service vs being looked down at because you didn't tip $25 on a casual dinner for 2 people?

It's not in their DNA. It's not like Chinese and Indian who take pride on how much they were able to get off an item no matter how high the starting price was. Go to a Hong Kong flea market. First quote you'll get on an item may be 10 USD and you end up buying it for 2 USD. To Chinese that's a huge win even if the item is only worth 1 USD.
A breaking point is going to happen to the Japanese customers at Thermae if prices continue to increase. I have noticed that not nearly as many girls are being pulled as when prices were 2500 baht. I commented on how some cute faced skinny petite girls who would have lasted less than 5 minutes at 2500 baht are now sitting in Thermae for 2 hours with no action. You can already see the effects. Also, Japan has some huge adult boards that can sway where guys go. Japanese salarymen don't make much money. The only thing saving Thermae now is these guys are weekend millionaires so maybe the extra 100-200 USD they spend over a weekend is still justifiable. I notice more and more Japanese now in a cheaper option like Jakarta where they used to be non existent.
I go to Thermae more for the fun of it laughing at guys inept social skills and maybe picking up a girl. If I want a hot girl I'll come back to Pattaya gog bars. Just a single gogo bar like Pin Up or Palace has more girls than Thermae and of much higher quality to boot.
