I cannot confirm that. The bar fines are at THB 600 in Soi Nana and Soi Cowboy, since approx. 3 years. Some bars try THB 700 at the moment - but that is a new development, I just heard about it last week.

The girls still go ST for THB 1,500 and LT for THB 2,000. Of course the girls prices are slightly higher in the high season, based on the higher demand, same as all the years before.

Hey to all!

I just recently visited Bangkok, albeit with my missus, but nevertheless was a fun trip.

Couple of things though. The thai's seem intent on milking the tourists for as much as they can whenever they can? I don't mean this in an offensive manner but I spent the most on my first day with my daily spendings going lower and lower progressively everyday as we started to learn more about the city.

We firstly got knocked off by a tuk tuk driver who charged us 100 baht and took us to an alley somewhere near the Patpong market. We asked to be taken initially from State Tower (Sirocco) to Patpong night market but he detoured there as my wife was quite intent on checking out a "ping pong show".

Took us down a dark alley and into a small shady looking place. A gangster-ish looking guy demanded 700baht per person as admission fee. We thought that must've been a knock-off so we walked away. In the end we decided to pay 500baht per person which I later found out was still a knock off. Was a seedy little bar and they gave you 2 little pathetic glasses of beer. Or rather majority water and some beer.

After 15 minutes of watching a not so attractive lady going at it with a ping pong ball, we got tired of it and decided now to finally head to the Patpong night market. When we got there, lo and behold. 100 baht for a beer to watch these damn shows, no cover charge. We paid 5 times as much but nevermind. Holiday spirit.

Anyhow, I've heard (and read) that Bangkok can be a man heaven and caters to the different needs and requirements of different people so I was thinking of making another trip back, sans the wife of course, somewhere in the near future and probably cram in some work as well while I'm there so I was just looking to ask for some general advice. I hope that any readers will forgive me if I ask something already covered here as I tried the search function but I didn't really find what I wanted with the threads being so deep in.

I've heard of places like Soi Cowboy which I passed by on the way to my hotel on Wireless Road and I saw some go-go bars at the Patpong night market.

What is at Soi Cowboy? From what I came to understand, there are bars with alot of girls inside. Sex with these girls isn't a guarantee but rather you negotiate and the girls there are not that attractive?

What is Bar Fine?

Would the places here on Soi Cowboy be similar to the places at Patpong?

I also managed to check out the RCA at Ratchada. Much younger crowd with nice plush clubs like Route66 and Slim/Flix. Firstly, sorry that I forgot to mention, but I'm a 26yr old Malaysian Chinese male, average looking.

With places like these, where the crowd are mostly young party goers, what are the chances of scoring there? And would it be for monetary purposes as well or the girls are looking for a one night stand with the tourist?

As I can usually only get away for 2 nights or so AT MOST, I want to make sure that I know where I'm going and its guaranteed there instead of trying out dead-ends as I don't ahve much time.

I would be more interested in a looker somewhere along 8 or 9/10. Where can I find girls of this quality for a long term overnighter back at the hotel? What does it cost and is sex guaranteed or do you also go there try your luck? Is there any set rules or places to go to to know these things like an online guide? Preferably girls around the younger 20's as thats where I am as well.

Although this isn't related to mongering as this place didn't offer me extra services, but while my wife was shopping at Siam Paragon, I headed down to Soi 6 and I found "Chang's massage parlour and reflexology".

As I had visited what pra khaeow and what arun and a myriad of other temples that day, my feet and body were aching so I opted for a thai oil massage. Alot of flexing and turning during the 2 hrs with the built in shower in the enclosed rooms upstairs. I suppose there would be hanky-panky should you ask for it or initiate but the lady didn't initiate and I wouldn't be interested either due to the fatigue.

All in all the massage was very good and I definitely would look to get a massage there again if I was ever in Bangkok again.

Cost me 500baht which I have come to learn might be quite steep but heck, was a steep learning curve for me the first day in Thailand.

Anyhow, thanks to everyone in advance who will take the time to answer my questions and I look forward to my next trip there and hopefully I can come back home with some material to share as well!

I say you have to go to one of the member clubs such as Pegagus and ask for one of the models. Figure about 4-5K THB. She may be closer to 30 than 20 in age, but she will look closer to 20 than 30. Good for you so that when you drop your pants she will know what to do.

From the late 90's until 2003, in most of the Bars in Nana and Soi Cowboy the BF where 400 THB during the off season (500 THB at the bigger bars during High Season) and the girls were 1000THB for ST and 1500THB for LT. Once some of the bars get 700THB for BF, they all will be on band wagon by the end of this High Season and it will not go down. The same thing is happen with girls on their prices.

The bottom line is that the prices are going up faster today then they have in the past. I put some of the relationship on the higher numbers Asian Tourist in the venues like Nana and Soi Cowboy. But there are other things too.

I am starting to see some of the girls do not want to be BF, because they are making more money in the bar dancing from tips then they can make ST or LT with a guy. I have seen a lot of guys tipping the girls 500 and 1000 THB for a good dance in the bar. I have heard of some of the girls making 5000 to 10000 THB at night just staying in the bar from tips. Why get BF if you can make more in the bar?

I lived in Korea from 83 to 92 and went thru the same thing in Korea. Back then Korea was a lot like Thailand is today. If you go to Korea today, this scene is almost complete gone and is mostly underground with VERY HIGH costs involved with it. I am afraid that the same thing is starting to happen in Thailand today.

There are pressures from the Thai Government, outside Countries and groups to clean up sex trade in Thailand. The landlords are starting to charge too much money for the Properties, causing the bars to raise their prices. With some of the bars in Nana selling for 1 to 2 million U.S. today, how do you get the money out of your investment at the current pricing? You can't! They have to rise there pricing. 10 years ago the same bars where selling for 25% of that.

Economies situations with wants and needs are pushing the prices up on drinks to services. The people in the business at the low levels, which are the girls, are learning you can make allot of money. In the past, you never heard of girls in this profession having a lot of money in Thailand, today there are girls in Nana working driving there car to work everyday and living in expense apartments in Bangkok. It is greed and we all want to do better in life, which is great, but it all cost something.

As with any type of business in the world, everything can get modernized and improve for people in the business. But with everything here is a cost, and the cost with this is the end user which is us and sooner or later the cost becomes to high and the business slow down because of the costs. Then add the pressure from the outside to end this trade in Thailand, it will all go away in time. I am afraid this is the path this is headed in Thailand and it is happen faster then we all think. It happen in Korea, it will happen in Thailand also.

We all have to enjoy it while it is still here. But with the pricing starting to increase at a accelerate rate, pressures from the outside of industrial and the mortal standard rising, along with media pushing on the subjects around the world, it will go away sooner or later.

The pressure started in 1988 in Korea and it took 10 year for it to go underground in Korea. I believe it is started in Thailand now and I sure hope it does not end within 10 years, but it is on the path.

I hope I am wrong! But it is starting to look like a parrellal to Korea back then!

My first trip to Bkk was in 2000 and the barfines at Nana were 500-600 baht.

JimHart, you are exactly correct - South Korea is a good predictor. I agree we have about ten years left, and I would even say that those 10 years will not be much fun. Already every year I have been in Thailand has been shadowed by a sense of impending doom. That said it is better than being back in the Prison, but having come from there, I know exactly where the world is going.

I've read the mentioning of a high and low season. I'm assuming this coincides with the weather patterns and we are now into a low season. Is this correct? When does the high season start and end? I'm assuming there may be some benefit in visiting during the low season. Availability and prices.

As the pseudo-socialist you are, I should think you'd be happy that the "little guy" (or in this case, "the little girl") is doing better, economically. What's wrong with Thailand developing? You, yourself always go on about BKK not being Thailand. So, what if P4P in BKK prices itself out of existence? There's still all those cheap upcountry skanks, you're so fond of, right?

While it's been predicted for years, both Nana and Cowboy are going to be gone relatively soon. In 10 years, they will be but a memory. With the huge development rising fast at the corner of Asoke, the very upmarket nature of the area, now and the associated rise in the value of land, having a little ramshackle street of 4 storey shop-houses involved in a nefarious trade such as Cowboy is not consistent with the whole environment of the area. At the moment, it's a hold-out. But, it will not last much longer. I'll mourn it a little as I always liked Cowboy as being a somewhat friendly place to go. Although the last time I was there (about a month ago), the girls were a bit more pushy, there were more Japanese (wankers that they are), the girls were quite unattractive and the atmosphere overall was less friendly.

Expect Nana to follow in short order after the King dies. I expect a good deal of the Nana area to be developed, as well in the near future. It's crown land. The Royal Household Bureau is already doing this in other parts of the city: tossing out long-standing leaseholders, taking over the land and developing it. Believe it or not, Nana was once a "Royal" area with palaces and palatial mansions. What it has become in the last 40 years is quite sad, really. But, as Bangkok develops into a regional hub, which has been the plan for sometime, an area like Nana just doesn't fit into the plans. Personally, I won't be sad to see Nana go. I never liked the place and now the atmosphere is oppressive, if not downright hostile. I find the girls to be mediocre, at best and very high on themselves, for no good reason. They're still just ignorant farm-girls with no education, who if it wasn't for this place would be working 12 hour shifts in some factory in Samut Prakan for 3,000/month. Nana is over-run with socially-inept Japanese and Koreans and even Chinese all gawking like 14-y.o. boys with stupid grins and throwing money around like there's no tomorrow. I was there last Saturday for the first time in months. What a fucking shit-hole it is. Why anyone would enjoy going there is beyond me.

Anyway, don't worry, Mr. O., you never go there and the Chinese brothels in Yaowarat and the Indian ones in Phaharat will still be operating well into the future. I assume that Patpong, as shitty as it is will keep running for awhile, as well. And, while out of your price range, the Thai Massage places will never disappear. The same goes for the Thai gogos in Suthisan, at least for now.

Giotto[/QUOTE]When I was in Morning and Night bar Soi Nana two months ago, the girl I was sitting with was asking 2000 THB ST and 3000 THB LT. She also said some girls in the bar were asking and getting 4500 THB LT. I know girls in Hillary Bar are asking the same ( 3000 THB LT), maybe because they have the same bar owner.
