I'm a newbie. I started going to Brazil (mainly Rio) in 2008 and go each year. I think we'll benefit from Brazil's inflation in long run. Here's my rational: Between now and the World Cup and then the Olympics. Prices of everything will push up. This will benefit the wealthy and upper middle class (the educated) but there will be no "trickle down" economics in Brazil. In the short run the girls, the clubs and hotels will ask for more money but this will choke out all but the luxury market traveler / consumer. Only a small part of this market will be mongers. As people in Brazil's (specifically Rio) tourist economy compete for a smaller pool of customers (mongers) prices will come down. However, as the gap between the rich and poor grow so will crime.
I think the Real is overvalued and kept artificially inflated like the Yuan. Unless Rouseff gets the inflation down, what I have outlined above will result. Just my two cents. In the meantime, let's all make lots of $$$ so price won't matter!
Brasil is for playas who are War criminals with stolen money to burn. Not for the hard working guys who earn an honest buck. 1 dolla is pretty much 1 real. And the hookas want upwards of 500 Real? Are you kidding? This is the third world and they want outrageous sums of cash for what? Brasilian bitchs love sex and give it up for FREE to any cool guy, I know because I bang them all the time for FREE. But when you are desperate and go to the clubs they smell it, but asking for hundreds come on. Are you guys that desperate? Maybe so. And with the olympics, world cup, oil discoveries, contracts with China, brasil looks to be the powerhouse of latin america like Argentina NEVER was.
If you are not a war criminal then stay far far far away from brasil. Its a shame because once upon a time brasil was cool and affordable, but with time things do change
Yeh, Brazil is more expensive now. So what's the big deal? Times change. Sometimes costs go up. Sometimes costs go down.
Rio is still a primo destination as far as I'm concerned. I would visit Brazil even if it wasn't a great place to P4P, but it happens to be a great place to "hobby" if you know what you are doing. Sadly there are too many newbies making the same newbie mistakes that guys made 20 years ago. I guess that will never change.
But there isn't much point in complaining about the increase in costs (it's not as if the Brazilian gov. is going to care about what a relatively small group of *****mongers think). The market will correct itself eventually. Until then either suck it up and pay the higher costs (my preferred course) or fly to cheaper locations like Mexico, SEA, or Africa where the costs are much lower - as well as the quality.
I get back to Rio early next month and I'm certainly looking forward to more time in the Cidade Maravilhoso.
The crowd at Balcony is starting to remind me of the bar scene from Star Wars.
LOL. Yeah, Baggio just sent me text from Balcony, and said the usual GDPs are present. BTW, Mark Hamill went to my HS.
As people in Brazil's (specifically Rio) tourist economy compete for a smaller pool of customers (mongers) prices will come down.
I hope you are right but I do not think so. Perhaps you have heard of the "Brazilian Business Model" where when you have less customers you RAISE prices.
In case you think this is crazy think of this: When you have a lot of customers they are obviously discerning so you cannot charge too much or they will leave. When you have few customers they are there because they have no choice and you can gouge them.

The pool of customers for the tourist economy is greater than even. Not gringo tourists because of the expensive real. Not rich brazilian tourists as they go abroad on holiday. The important tourist now is the "turista de Lula". All those average-brazilians that during the last years has gotten a much better financial situation. They have started to travel a lot and they are happy to spend their money. Those are the important tourists, not a few gringo mongers.
This shows clearly in most tourist destinations in Brazil. It's getting harder than ever to find apartments and prices have gone up a lot. The customers are mainly brazilian tourists.
I also was discussing these tourists with one of the major apartment agency owners this week. Both the agency and the apartment owners hate having them as clients and would gladly rent to a single guy instead. The reason is simple. They travel with the whole extended family -- 8 to 12 people and stay in one bedroom or two bedroom apartments. A single guy with one or two GDPs coming and going starts to look very appealing.

I'm sorry, but, that is probably the dumbest thing I've ever heard on this board. This year! Some of us steal money the honest way, yet still prefer to give it away (selectively) for a quality piece of ass. Although I agree that the prices are out of hand and that I would never pay 500 Real to bang, there are some guys that make so much money. The honest way. That they don't care. I hope to be there one day. For the sole purpose of being able to buy any bi#ch in the world and make her kiss my sceptor!
Just wondering. What are the top countries that Brazilian GDPs go to work (and by work, I mean For money, for all your smarta$$es out there)!

Last week I was in midtown Manhattan NYC and I took a picture of a street sign "Little Brazil". I also heard a lot of people on 7th St near Time Square speaking portuguese. In my hotel, Sheraton Towers and hotel, there were Brazil flag logos in the lobby with many brazilians too. Once this trip I was in a dli restaurant called "Carnegy's" for one of their famous giant pastrami sandwiches, and next to me was a young couple speaking brazilian portuguese. So I struck up a conversation and found they're on vacation from Sao Paulo. They both have been to the US several times. The young man has even been to Los Angeles. They say that they come to the US often with the weak dollar, and, of course, they want the dollar to stay weak.
But they said a few other things. First, the never been to Rio in their lives. They said that many brazilians would rather come to the US than anywhere and many brazilians do not travel within their country unless they have to, which explains why the brazilian domestic air travel infrastructure is a wreck. Second, they believe the brazilian govt can't handle the World Cup nor the Olympics. Their opinion is there is no labor, equipment or work ethic to make it all happen. And lastly, the weak dollar and strong real is not good for brazil. Even though the brazilians who can get a passport or US visa have traveled abroad with a strong real, the brazilian economy doesn't benefit. Why? Because all export contracts are in dollars and not reals. Moreover, Brazil's inflation is making the country unaffordable for the average brazilian. A footnote: the brazilian chick was a dog. She was tall overweight with no ass. But they were in love holding hands.
Wrong. The brasilian tourists have always been in NYC, on little brasil street 47th, and they have their street party in September, . The rich brasilians have always been in NYC, they can afford it no matter what the real exchange. I can't tell you how many of these brasilans tourists I have fucked. They love a new york di-ck. And they treat me, strange if I was in their country I got to go to help right? Haha
Wrong! Who says they never were in NYC or just arrived! I am stating from a recent visit numb nuts!
