i started by downloading qq software and getting an account – not difficult. then i started looking for suitable 'service providers' – again, not difficult. i started with the 'dragon and phoenix' website, referenced in the shanghai nightlife guide – i selected some girls who seemed to meet my taste and added them as contacts in qq. from there it took on a life of its own – once you become active you get a steady stream of contact requests. finding contacts is the easy part – translating them into reasonable encounters is the hard part.
my statistics are:
number of contacts set up as 'promising': 80.
number of chats i initiated for possible meetings: 57.
number which developed into useful chat: 37 (others only did outcall, hotels, etc.)
number which led to address & phone details: 24.
number who rejected foreigners: 8 (33%)
number i made an appointment: 14.
number i made it into the apartment: 10 (failed to find 1, sent away 1, left 2)
number i stayed for sex: 8 (one had bad attitude, one demanded more money than we had arranged)
number i would go back to: 2.
not a great success rate! some of my conclusions:
many girls will not accept foreigners – i was surprised how often this is a problem, and now tell them very early in the chat, after i get their pre-formatted price list and location since there is no point wasting my time or theirs if they won't accept me. the rejection comes in various forms –
- abrupt halt to chat without any explanation.
- 'can't do', possibly followed by 'big' or 'can't take it' and suitably tragic emoticon.
i've always made it clear i'm a foreigner and never set off on an appointment without specific agreement that they will accept me, but have still had two wasted journeys – one took my call from the appointed road intersection and then told me she didn't accept foreigners, another opened the door slightly and waved me away. (more on these two in a separate report). two also agreed to accept me but at double the normal rate – i don't mind the principle of a 'laowai tax' but now the cost is getting to the same level as a high-grade spa. another let me into the apartment then told me the price was going up from 300 to 500 – that was a rare occasion when the smarter head was in control and i walked away.
the locations tend to be pretty basic. i've only been to one where i would want to spend more than the allotted 20 minutes, so the advertised 'overnight 800, no limit on the number of times' is not as attractive as it first sounds.
they change locations frequently. i saved one as a contact conveniently. located in pudong, when i tried to set up a visit three weeks later she'the moved to the other side of the city. i think they also operate in cooperative groups, so you will get the one working when you arrive, which may not be the one you chatted with on qq.
these girls are working, we do not represent an enjoyable break in their day – the faster they can deal with us and get us out of their space the better. it's very similar to a bbs – they have their clothes off in ten seconds and want you inside and finished in the next five minutes. one who seemed to be enjoying it opened her eyes and whispered the only english of the encounter: 'quickly please' – at first i thought she was requesting a speed increase to increase her enjoyment then realized she just wanted me to get the hell out so she could get back to watching tv.
the girl will never, ever, look like the photos. truly, never! in the unlikely event that is actually the same girl, (less than 20% chance in my experience) she will not have the same make up, clothes or behaviour you see on the website. more likely jeans and a t-shirt, which she will shed with all the eroticism of a carrefour check out.
she will not want to deliver the array of services promised on qq chat. forget what it says about 'chest push, happy roaming and 69'. the standard routine is a shower, a minute or two of bj (probably covered) on to and out of the main event as quickly as possible.
overall, i'm still looking for the great experience that's worth repeating. i suppose it's a case of 'get what we pay for' – 300 or 400 should not raise high expectations. i would happily pay double that to spend a relaxed hour or two with an attractive girl in a clean apartment with a good attitude, but i'm still looking. i've seen the 'model' sites where they hint that thousands of rmb can buy a great time (one also says qq men don't have enough money, under a picture of her sitting in a ferrari!) , but i'm looking for something a bit more realistic. i'll keep searching qq world, but i'm not too optimistic. meanwhile i think i'll go back to my reliable local helper, met last year in a hotel bar and now a good friend. she always shows up on time, well dressed, looking good and with an interesting taste in high quality underwear. she delivers great service as long as i can match her energy, leaves us both with a big smile till next time. compared with the hours spent preparing a qq contact and visit, her 1500 overnight charge is starting to look like good value. (she also has the loudest, longest moan of any girl i've ever known when she's enjoying herself – that was no problem until the neighbours got a new dog who decided to add to the noise at 4am. they look the other way when i see them in the elevator these days!)
the qq premise probably makes more sense when you find a good one who's worth going back to, justifying the time and effort invested in finding her – i haven't been that fortunate so far but i will suggest some to avoid in my next post.
