The place is called El Paraiso del Marino club, supposedly a new place according to the card, and has a psicina / Bilar / Discoteca / restaurante, which I didn't know at the times translates to pool / billiards, disco / club, and restaurant. I should've have gone to check the place out, as the girl herself was super hot and I really like playing billiard / ppol. Perhaps it was lively inside as well. Worth giving a shot if Elektra is closed as this place says it is open 24 hours, according to the business card I was given. It doesn't seem to far from old city, but I was already scared of leaving that region after the shakedown. Its address is Nuevo Campestre 10 no 56B. Worth checking out if your in town I suppose. Let me know how the place is if any of you do make it out there, as I didn't get a chance to visit myself.

Which sucks as Elektra was my fav bar also. Also had to pay to get in. 10k. Girls there mostly were from LDV, outside from tu candela etc.
Also it is kinda a makeshift bar, all outside area, think patio area in Elektra. Watch your bill also, evertime I paid for a drink they "forgot" my change.
I can confirm that Elektra is closed and 'replaced' by Elektracita. It's smaller and quieter. It's not owned by Aldo, who I'm told 'didn't pay the electricity' on Elektra (which I doubt) and is 'always in the casino' as someone else mentioned.
Anonymous5: thank you for your honest and comprehensive reports. You're right to be nervous about carrying party gifts around Cartagena. I'm stopped probably 1 in 10 journeys. I always put them down the back of the taxi seat in case I'm taken by surprise with a stop. So far down the back that I've sometimes lost it! But I'd prefer that than being caught with something. You're right that Cartagena is full of sharks. However, it's much much worse if you speak zero Spanish. I speak enough, and with a decent accent, so I get by. I probably also have mentally accepted that I will generally overpay, so I don't get stressed. I still challenge and haggle a lot and make sure they don't take me for a fool, but only up to a point.
Tu Candela is a lot of fun, but it's best to bring someone there.
The Marina place, if I remember correctly, isn't new. I think (I could be wrong) I've been there and it was about 15 minutes ride from Centro, but was suprisingly large, plush and new. About 15 girls, and some hotties, but zero customers. I could be wrong about this place but I don't think so.
Night 4: pretty amazing that she got up and left. Never heard of that before. Maybe you have one of those faces.
Overall, yep you had some bad luck. But the second time can only get better! Go again, be prepared to lose $50k now and then, go to Playa Hollywood, Mr Babilla, Cafe del Mer, LDV and Elektracita. Relax and enjoy!

I'm from a culture where bargaining is a way of life. People of my culture look down upon you if you don't even give a modicum of effort to negotiate the best deal, so it's inbred in me and I have no choice but to try to get the best deal. If I'm ever back in CTG, I'll def take your advice in regards to the party gifts, although I may form a new strategy to be a bit moderate or just take some losses, ie dispose of everything before leaving a place. You can always score later on, and if I'm in a place for 2-3 hours, it gives me decent amount of time to do some and dump the rest. The girl from the 1st night, even recommended I do that as I was leaving the motel with her. Even if I'm going through 2 purchases a night, it still is less expensive for what I might be purchasing at home for a single. I can always stash some back at my place, and if I find a girl early on, we can always head back to my place for some re-up. At least with this strategy, I won't have to constantly have on my possession.
As for the girl who left on the 4th night, I didn't explain the entire story. There was a small wrinkle I didn't mention. While in the cab ride back to El Laguito, I noticed she got really close to me quickly after 2-3 minutes in the cab. I had a similar experience in South Africa with a girl in a taxi. I was more naive at the time, and the girl in SA ended up pick pocketing me without me having the slightest of clue. When I got to my hotel, I noticed the money missing and the girl paid for the encounter. At that point, I new I had been pickpocketed and lost a little more than our encounter, but couldn't do anything about it. It did make me aware of how well a pickpocket could operate and taught me a lesson to not be so naive. In CTG, in the taxi, the girl got close to me and my first reaction was to protect my pockets. I guess my intuition and instincts just played their part without me even having to think about it. I dress well, am decent a looking guy, and am fairly young looking. I don't believe my appearance would give her reason to believe I was a bad person or that I wouldn't pay the agreed on price. The fact that she even asked for prepayment prior to action also leads me to believe that she targets victims who she can either pickpocket, or she robs them once they give her prepayment. Maybe that's her game. It's speculation on my part, but that's what my instinct lead me to believe. Somehow, I have a good feeling about people's motives, just as I did about he jetski guys, and why I made it a point to check the time from 3 different people upon boarding the jetski and 2-3 different people after getting off. I'm usually good with getting a feel for people's motives, although I failed miserable with girl on night #5 of my stay. That was perhaps because I tried to rush the transaction and didn't get a feel for what kind of personality and motives that girl had. All in all, I believe that girl who left the apt because of prepayment not being agreed upon has some ulterior motive.
Either way, thanks for reading my reports, and if I do go back I will check out the places you mentioned, and hopefully Elektra will be reopened by then. I'm already looking at travel deals from Spirit air.

I am planning a trip later this spring, with a buddy, to either the Dominican Republic or Columbia (Cartagena & Medellin).
For about four months now I have been reading the forums and still have not made up my mind on the best choice. Tho I am leaning towards Columbia. I am thinking those who may have been in SEA and the DR & Columbia can steer me in the right direction.
I am 58, American, no Spanish ability (tho I am taking an adult 'Ed course on conversational Spanish). I am most familiar with the monger scene in the Philippines (read GFE) and have had great success there. I loved going to the LA Café in Manila and picking up the girls one or 2 at a time. Ha ha ha.
I generally get 2. 3 girls over the course of the evening. The most I had was 5 in one night in Angeles City (1-2-2). For instance, it sounds like at Blackbeards in the DR, that they roll up the streets by midnight when I am just getting started. I am friendly, cheerful and easy going and seldom get rejected. I search more for "chemistry" than looks. I watch my money, but don't pinch it either, generally staying with market rates.
If I went to Columbia, I would probably use Fabio in Cartagena and stay at the Mansion in Medellin.
I am a former band member so I do like to party (cola) and that is one thing Columbia offers that the others do not tho I am years out of practice now anyway.
I will continue to read, but experienced advice is welcome at this point.

If you buy a ticket for [i]Columbia[/i], you might find yourself in Washington DC, which does not offer exactly the same opportunities.
I do not think Casa Benjamin and Casa Golan were ever even mentioned here, but I do think it's worth to let you know.
Casa Benjamin is a house at Laguito, sea side, almost in front of the police post, after the last calle to the sea (where's Dona Marciana). You see "BENJAMIN" written in large letters on the front.
There is an anonymous door, always closed. To open, people must ring the bell. It's kind of hotel, where patrons are only guys from Israel. I've seen some of them, young and fit. I guess that they must come from the army or something. (All Israelitis come from Army, but they look definitely in service to me).
So what's the point to mention this place in ISG?
Now that Elektra is closed, many girls like to go there at night. It's not open to men, that is hobby players like us. Only to girls, to the sole benefit of hotel guests. Do they pay well? Apparently not, but this place is famous among CTG working girls because of the widest choice of drugs freely circulating there, including the worst: cripa, coca, synthetic, mixes of coca and other things to smoke, etc etc.
A girl told me that some girls even fuck for free there at early morning, just because of the hype.
I did not see Casa Golan, but I heard it's the same kind of place: open to tourists from Isreal, famous for sex&drugs parties every night.
I saw the place from the sea, passing by on a boat. It looks anonymous. Two girls were sitting on the terrace. It reminded me a place like the Mansion in MDE, with girls and guests freely meeting, if it was not for the drugs (no drugs at Mansion).
This place makes me feel bad and nervous. Only girls allowed to enter the door, which is permanently and discretely closed. How could it be tolerated by the authorities? Everyone knows the amount of drugs that are sold and consumed there every night, but they must have some good friend located high.

another source: a hooker on the beach that had been married to an israeli and spoke hebrew. first she said she was staying in a "hostel" but as there aren't many in el laguito, if any, i asked the name and on hearing it i became curious; again this benjamin. according to her only israeli guys and girls from colombia and argentina are allowed in. why argentina? jewish girls from its large jewish community? i wouldn't know. 30 000 cop a night or something, so it's relative cheap for el laguito (two-story beds). and more girls come by only to do drugs and let the guests fuck them for free,"because they just don't care".
we remember the late noah goldberg who they say advertised his business very openly and that way became too easy for his enemies to track down. the israelis can advertise and give detailed information on internet as much as they want. as long it is written in hebrew, they will be safe because no colombian punk will understand it.

I am staying in Cartagena until Friday and then leave for Bogota. To my great disappointment. So far I didn't encounter any chicas malas, neither on the beach nor in the more popular places like cafe del mar or that mister bar.
