Good Report, Addition to El Centro section
My compliments on a good MEDELLIN REPORT. Anecdotal account with heaping mounds of factual, quantifiable information.
To add to the El Centro section, on my trip meet up with a El Centro Vennie, 18 yo, must have been 5'4", had to be no more than 100 lbs. So, I would say, watch out. If you are not ready to be asked for a tip, it does happen. The options are innumerable, and I think I came up with a decent one that extended the time with a cutie, got to try a place I always wanted, and did it all for a bargain.

El Centro reminded me of being in Sosua on Pedro Clisante back when it was much better. Only it was daytime, regular commuters were all around. And the chicas weren't grabbing my crotch and hustling me, and of course even cheaper. I loved it. I am not just looking for the cheapest I can find, but hell, even if a complete bust, at 30 K for half an hour or 50 K for an hour, worst thing possible us I end it immediately oat her anyway to avoid any BS, and go find another out hardly any money. But that did not happen. Since I spent so much time, perusing and chatting them up to get a feel for them, had no problem finding something to satisfy me each time.
So I guess I will be a Centro rat. With some facebook girls thrown in for a tad higher class and better location. And hopefully I will venture into some casas next time or find someone to show me around in them. I think next time I will go to the Mansion for a few nights, find some gringos, then just go into the heart of the beast and stay at Nutibara right in el cento. I walked right past it. Concerning Parque Lleras in Poblado, give it a try.
If you have not done it, give it a try. Personally, I enjoy the street energy there. It is safe and alive with Colombians just having a good time and living their lives, and its nice to be swept up in that wave.
Of all the times I have been there, I have pulled 2 girls. One bad and one good experience, respectively. This was when I had a hotel in Poblado, too, so the walk was super easy. Ergo, I do not know where a love motel is, or the price. I heard the girls know, so I expect them to lead on that part when time comes.
With the park under construction the girls post up in front of Moet, up to Calle 10, then along Calle 10 for a couple blocks. I have definitely seen some pretty girls, got some intel on prices and was even propositioned with a thick girls asshole with no upcharge. Definitely a fun time if you like to shop around.
Of the girls I did session with, the bad was 175 K. She also tapped out before I came. And then she would not leave. She wanted to sleep there, and said her ride was gone, and all sorts of stuff. The front desk clerk and I became friends that night because he handled her like a pro, and I tipped him for his work and discretion.
The good girl was cuter and more professional. When we met, she asked for 300 K, I asked for how long and immediately followed that question with "Dos oras? She said yes, so I countered with 200 K for 2 hrs, which was accepted. She was a cute, early 20's, thin Colombian with nice long straight black hair. And in hindsight, I don't think it was 2 hours, but it was not really rushed; it was just the right amount of time. I have not done Gustos, but have been in some of the other clubs, Moet and the other one next to it, before they start asking for a cover charge. Those clubs are LOUD, dark and dry ice smoky. They use stobe lights too (proper club type effects) and the whole thing is just not my scene. Actually, kinda disorienting. Given the volume, I do not know if negotiations for price happen in the club, or what not. Not really my thing (which is why I check it out before they charge the cover) and the girls look much the same in the club or on the street.
I will try Gustos one of these days because I believe in ticking boxes. La Isla was one last time, which I wrote a report about, but it got buried back in September. The TL; DR is "I am glad it is there, will do it again, but in no rush to repeat. Medellin has waaaay to much to offer to stick to just to La Isla. " Which is what I expect my experience at Gustos will be.
Keep in mind, Parque Lleras is a hunting ground and failing you do not find something you like, it is a good people-watching ground. It is a good scene for walking with a 4 K beer and a 1 K cigarette, and not giving too much a shit about anything. The bonus is it goes way late into the morning and stays safe, whereas Centro is supposed to be a No-Go Zone after dark for gringos AND locals. I have been in El Centro well after dusk once and the place died off hard.
I have had the benefit of seeing the park before it underwent reconstruction, and recently with how the everyone had to adjust. It is more fun with the park open, but it is still fun if you branch out and away from Parque Lleras. A note about moving away from the park, my motus operendi is to be respectful when I am not in the tolerance zone, so I do not proposition girls in Provenza and don't gawk at another dude's girl.
I would say you should check it out to form your own opinion. It is definitely a place to monger, but it also a place to just experience.
As for Poblado, it is a nice area, one worth exploring. A pleasant ambiance, descent sightseeing and a river tucked away up a street, which added to my amazement as it felt it brought the jungle right into the city, if even just a sliver. There are also good services available and nice restaurants.
It is on a hill, which I really didn't notice until I started spending more time in and around El Centro, and then returning to Poblado. Not a big deal if you are in ok shape, but you do notice it.
A bummer negative to Poblado is begging has increased in these past couple years. It was ok in 2019, but these past couple trips have been astonishing with how much begging there is now, even kind of aggressive. Between Parque Lleras and the Poblado tram station, expect to be asked 5 times, minimum. And, it is not just the rural Indians with their little children sleeping next to them (whom are actually quite modest and not aggressive), but families of Colombians all working as a big begging unit. I learned to take the back street (calle 9) during the daytime when headed to the tram station.
Pros.
- Safe, energetic night scene.
- A bevy of beaver.
Cons.
- Girls are a bit more pricey and always an iffy experience.
- Tourist magnet, which also draws beggers.
