Surely above market rates, but sometimes justified
Anyone who's on limited time and not pressed for money would understand. Worth it just in terms of time saved and the drama of negotiations avoided.
Curious why you felt compelled to pay 2 and 3 times the going rate that you should have? 8000 baht for short time? This just builds an expectation among the girls that this is the going rate now, so thanks for helping drive the prices up for the rest of us. Smh.
7 days IN bkk is definitely enough assuming:
You have a solid plan for all activities including back ups before you arrive including lining up TF types.
Personally I don't even mind the jet lag phase as I get outcall "massages" between naps till I'm 100%. It's pricier than going out but personally worth the convenience.
Also, once you have a rough plan, see if it justifies the trip in your head again before deciding.
Gentlemen, I have a question that is very subjective. Long story short: I'm an east coast (US) guy. I have a trip to Tijuana coming up in a couple weeks. I'm considering canceling that trip and taking that money and buying a ticket to BKK. I've never been to Thailand. My question: is 5-7 days enough to enjoy the trip? I know the flight is brutal. Perhaps I should add, I'm really most interested in nuru massage. I'd probably hit up some gogos a couple nights. But the primary purpose would be for the massages. If I can get over 30 hours each way for 6-ish days on the ground, is it crazy to do for a short trip?
What is the current status of Marijuana in Thailand?
My friend and I are about to pack for our annual trip to Bangkok. Despite his advanced age (early 70's), he enjoys a joint or two before sex. He used to smuggle marijuana into the country, but of course this has been unnecessary in the last few years. He is now talking about smuggling some type of weed because he thinks marijuana has been criminalized again. Personally, I think anyone who smuggles drugs into Thailand at his age is showing signs of dementia!
In all seriousness, we cannot figure out if this is true. Google is no help, as there are numerous links to stories about how the status of marijuana will change in 2025 (ie, today). But, there is nothing to indicate that this change in the law has actually happened.
Can someone who is actually in Thailand help him? Is marijuana still legal in the Land of Smiles?
All the outlets I have on line have sent their usual morning marketing materials
If all the articles you're referring to are over a month old, then they're just reporting a promise that wasn't fulfilled (end legal last night).

Jetlag- another point of view
And as for jet lag -- everybody deals with that differently, but I sleep on the plane and force myself into the local time zone the next day. Never takes more than 24 hours. Get lots of sunshine.
I am astonished that anyone who comes to Thailand for the good food, the warm weather and the sex would bother to try to time shift if they are only staying 5 or 6 days. Rapid time shifting is painful! Studies of circadian rhythm (which is measured by looking at changes in core body temperature, serum cortisol levels, serum or salivary melatonin levels, etc) show that one cannot time shift more than one hour in each 24 hour period. In other words, to completely change time zones and feel normal, it would take a person from New York City 12 days to get into the Thai time zone. Your brain will rebel if you try and do this any more rapidly (even though some people seem to tolerate this pain better than others).
But for the typical sex tourist in Bangkok for a week holiday, rapid time shifting is unnecessary. All you need is a room in a hotel with curtains that truly block out the sun (so you can sleep during the daylight hours) and you are set.
The strategy is simple. Let's say that you usually go to be bed in New York at 10 pm and awaken at 6:00 am. In Thailand, you can go to bed at 10 am and wake up at 6:00 pm and your body will feel great. No need to fuck with your circadian rhythm whatsoever and you can still take advantage of the great restaurants and the party scene, which honestly doesn't get going until 10 pm or later.
This approach won't work for the business traveler (or someone from Europe, Africa or Asia), but if your "business" is enjoying the company of sexy Thai women, becoming a night owl for a short period will be painless.
Have fun dude! Load up on red bull

It'll effect old timers like me more, but I power through. Got to get in as much fucking as I can. But 5 to 7 days is really kinda short for a half way round the world trip like that. I'd say, give yourself minimum 10 days at least. There's so much to enjoy in Bangkok. The sights, the sounds, the foods, the chicks! Dude, all I can say is load up on your red bull cause don't waste your time sleeping. If you can manage 3 hours a night, you should be able to fuck aplenty in just 7 days. Make the most of it. The only downside is that Bangkok can be so addictive, you'll be dying to come back again. It's like the Hangover 2 said - "Bangkok has him now".
Don't waste your time with nana or cowboy. Go for a night each just to say you've experienced it. It's more expensive now than it's ever been. Massage joints, oilies and soapies is where it's at. You pick the chick from a line up, the hourly rate is way more reasonable. No mamasan hassle, don't have to bother with lady drinks or other obnoxious bar patrons. I'd say don't even bother with Thermae. I always give the same advice. Stick to the massage joints. Like the ones in Phrom Phong. You'll thank me later. Have fun at pound town!
