Freebies from GDP's in Rio De Janeiro
After Euro100 mentioned that he has GDP's come over for free I had a good think about this occurrence and decided to put my 2 cents worth down on paper.
It is quite common to have GDP's come over and stay for free. In fact if I, or pretty much any one I know, bangs the same girl more than a few times, there will normally be an offer by the girl to come over and stay. The first few encounters may be paid for (or may not) , then as some sort of relationship builds they tend to stay for free. This kind of thing would be unheard of in most western countries, but in Rio it is kind of normal.
Why do they do it? Who knows what really goes on inside a GDP's head but my thoughts are as follows.
*Most GDP's come from poor backgrounds, really poor! Until you actually go out and see where they tend to live, you really can't imagine how basic their living conditions are. Hence a chance to 'hang out' with someone that has a nice bed or can maybe take them out to dinner or even provide a place close to the beach is appealing. Even the girls that live in Copacabana tend to live in very crappy apartments, often 4 per room, hence a night away from this is appealing. The illusion of spending time with someone from a 'higher social status', tends to have some draw.
*Of course if a girl builds a relationship there is a chance for marriage etc. This goes with out saying.
*Brazilians tend to be very family orientated people that are used to being around a lot of people all the time. Hence when they are working, they can be very lonely, and probably prefer not to sleep alone. They also do not like to sleep alone for security reasons, living in a favela or the baixada is not the thing a single women would do alone.
Sexo.
One thing that constantly amazes me is when a GDP comes over, usually after a hard days or nights work, they still want to fuck like the energizer bunny. I have often asked them how they do this and I generally get the answer 'it is different with someone I like'. Pretty much every girl I have had over insists on a long session at night then another quickie in the morning- just amazing to me.
Freebies from GDPs are very common. Of course what you have, whether it be looks, youth, game, or cash will increase your chances or frequency of visits. The length of your stay in Rio is also important. If you are here for a few days it will be tough to pull this off, but not impossible. If you are here for a few weeks or months, absolute no brainer, particularly if you give off the impression that you will return to Rio soon. If you live in Rio, then it would be uncommon for GDP's to not come over for free. In fact when you live in Rio, getting rid of them is the hardest thing.
Just my 2 centavos!
Excellent Post By Euro100 & Bubba Boy

Final Update: Month 4 (The cheap comes out expensive!)

I'd like to thank Christo for helping me make it out alive (barely). And the subject above is the reason for my trouble at the end.
Long story short, I do NOT recommend letting any GDP in Rio think you're her girlfriend and stop asking for dinhero. She will (1) not let you be with another GDP the rest of your trip, (2) find out if you are with another freelance GDP within 5 minutes to 1 hour, (3) threaten to kill you or chop off your "Peru" which is even worse than death, (4) attempt to extort you for money if you tell her to leave your apartment after an argument, (5) stalk you outside and / or inside your apartment complex at all hours of the day and night, and (6) make your life a living hell until you leave. And those were not multiple choice options, she will attempt to complete steps (1) thru (6) completely, LOL! That was not only my experience the last week of my trip, but I was also warned by some of my Rio amigos that many Gringos fall into this GDP trap and go through the same pain and suffering when they try to end the relationship.
Heed this advice."You pay the girls to leave, not to come over!". This was repeated to me time and time again.
Bonus miles = free travel!
Hi all,
Without browsing through 1000's of posts, anyone know where to go to get the best deals on a flight+hotel in Rio?
I don't want to spend more than $700-$800 on a flight since my total budget would be $2k.
I've been reviewing destinations such as Havana, Sosua DR, and now I'm also interested in Rio. I'll be making my choice at the end of March to leave mid-April.
Any advice is appreciated.
Here are the airfare costs I paid for my past 5 trips to Rio, all departing JFK and arriving in GIG.
First trip cost $802 via TAM Airlines booked within 3 weeks of a September departure.
Second trip cost $919 via AA (American Airlines) booked within 2 months of a March departure.
Third trip cost $61 (Taxes only!) via AA booked with 40K MILE REWARDS within 4 months of a September departure.
Fourth trip cost $56 (Taxes only!) via AA booked with 60K MILE REWARDS within 2 months of a December departure. And I was also able to extend the trip another month (thru Carnaval no less) for $0 because because the flight was on MILE REWARDS. Otherwise I would have had to pay a $200 change fee.
Fifth trip (just returned from last week) cost $61 via AA booked with 50K MILE REWARDS within 5 months of an October departure. I was also able to change the departure date twice for $0 because the flight was on MILE REWARDS.
MILE REWARDS are your best deal for flying ANYWHERE in the World for cheap and they are easy to get! A friend turned me onto them after my first trip to Rio and, with a little reluctance (thinking the deals would be a time consuming pain in the butt) , I discovered they were easy to get, and most satisfying (just like GDP's)!
Simply go to.

And read the forum posts. If American Airlines is a convenient carrier for you, like it is for me, here's a recent thread with some 75k to 100k bonus point offers.

A couple of years ago Citibank was offering 25 to 30k American Airlines bonus miles when you signed up for their Visa, Mastercard, or Amex personal cards, plus Visa or Mastercard Business cards, and spent $750 within the first 4 months. So I signed up for 5 different cards (about 3-4 months apart) and put my utility bills and other common big expenses (including business purchases) on the cards, paid them off immediately (so I wouldn't incur interest fees) , received more than 125k bonus miles, and then promptly closed out the cards (you don't lose the bonus miles, they accrue and stay in your AA Advantage account). I subsequently signed up for a TD Ameritrade account that gave me 15k miles and a Citibank checking account that gave me 20k miles. This is how I flew to Rio my last three trips for free and only paid the airport tax ($56 to $61)! Plus I had tickets that were so flexible I could extend my departure date up to 4-5 months at no extra charge (an additional $200 value right there).
If you travel to Rio during High Season (January to March) you'll eat up about 30k miles each way if you book a few months in advance. If you wait until the last few weeks or days to book, seats will cost more bonus miles (up to 60k each way) so I always book well in advance to spend the least amount of bonus miles. That's why I was able to leave for 20k miles and return for 30k during high season. But if you book a trip in late March or September (a nice time to see Rio because there are less tourists and the GDP's are cheaper too) you can fly for 20k miles each way.
BONUS MILES are the only way to travel, you just have to do a little legwork in the beginning and jump on the right deals when they're hot. And always remember to close out your card after the miles hit your account so you do not incur the credit card renewal fee (which is waived the first year) , that's another key. Also, after you close out all your cards with one bank (e. G. Citibank) you can re-apply for new bonus miles cards a year later, which is what I'm doing now.
If you're planning to visit Rio ASAP and can't wait for Bonus Miles (FYI: they usually only take a month to hit your account after you fulfill the offer) then the cheapest travel agent in the United States to fly to Rio is.

Which has done airfare from most major cities for as low as $400 to $500 outside of the high season (which is now).
