Given your dislike of Thailand and the Thais, I'm curious as to why you would want to stay in the country. You're clearly intelligent, thoughtful and write well, so you should be able to do something productive in your own country. Why do you stay in the LOS?

Regarding your opinion on the people and the country, I do think you're too one-sided in your viewpoint. What happened to you could have happened in many other countries. Thailand isn't the only place where unjust things happen.

Also, I think your views of Thai women are too extreme. Some of them are as you described, but many of them are intelligent, warm and cultivated human beings with whom one can discuss a variety of subjects. For example, one female companion of mine is not well educated, but is very intelligent. I had the opportunity to talk with her about the following subjects: Thai architecture, Jim Thompson's role in revitalizing the Thai silk industry, the history of Thailand as portrayed in Siam Niramit, the reign of King Chulakorn, the influence of western culture as exemplified by the architecture of Vimanmek Palace, foreign currency fluctuations, Thai finance and the role of the royal family in today's Thailand. These were very interesting subjects and I think that not even NicFrenchy would be bored by these discussions.

What has happened to us all? What a bunch of negative fuckers we have become! We live in a land of absolute freedom, compared to the west, where anything is possible. Not many of us would be able to fuck such beautiful women in our own countries, at any price. Think about the poor jobless fuckers at home. With fat, bitching, moaning, ugly wives. I at least know when I am in paradise. A beautiful wife. A 29 year old, non P4P, sex mad gorgeous girlfriend. And on top of all that I can go out and get laid at anytime I like. Fucking hell. My answer to anyone who does not like Thailand. Fuck off. And stay fucked off. Or go live in Birmingham for 6 months. BTW. 1 can of lager, a packet of smokes and a dirty mag will cost you more than 2 hours LT with a bar girl.

Well said that man, I didnt know Gordon Brown had put the prices of Beer, Fags and Porn up so much either.
I Fully agree, the positives are freely available on every street corner and lining the roads in between. You also forgot to mention the benefits of the climate too. :D
With business quiet especially in BKK at the moment, recently the time has never been better for good old fashioned Mongering.

What a star Jock Brown and his bunch of inept idiots are. Just when most of the population of UK are struggling to pay the bills and make ends meet, he raises the 'sin' tax on the few pleasures left to the average Joe on the street.

When I lived in UK (not Brum thankfully!), one of the few thing in life to look forward to was getting tanked up with the mates at a weekend and the fortnightly visit to Sandy’s Superstars or a similar dream machine. If I still lived in UK, I doubt whether I could still afford these modest pleasures.

Where I am now, I could have a different girl every night if I wanted. Cost of living is cheap and beer is nearly given away. Don’t smoke but they are dirt cheap as well.

So when I come over all negative or feel a whinge coming on, all I do is consider my lifestyle in comparison to the folk back home and all is sweetness and light again:D.

Yes, from a true monger's point of view, you are absolutaly right but, some (like me) did not come to thailand for the pussy. I am not complaining that it's there, I made it clear with my reviews that I enjoy it but it is not my primary concern.

Titanium is a disco/club in Soi 22. If you walk up Soi 22 from Sukhumvit it is located after approx. 100 m on the right hand side.

Titanium is quite famous for two reasons:

- a girl band playing there (Unicorn, playing Mo. to Sa.)
- an Ice Bar on the upper floor

I went there yesterday, had an invitation for a socalled "Back to School" party. Girls and customers dressed in school uniforms.

The club is built into two shophouses - it is not too big at all. On the lower level is the bar/disco, where the band is playing, on the upper floor the ice bar and some seat groups, a kind of dance floor.

When I entered I did not really like the style - cold black tiles on the floor, plainly painted walls, no interesting decoration at all. But - it was 10 pm, and the club was quite crowded, a good number of customers.

There are approximately 30 girls working, some of them are going with customers. Others are only serving and drinking with customers. Bar fines are quite high - around THB 2000 during the week, and for this party day it was THB 3000. The girls look ok, some stunners - some so-so.

Service is good, girls are not pushy, drinks well mixed, prices relatively on the high side. But the real highlight is: The Band!!!

6 younger Thai women are playing rock, funk, mainstream pop on a real high level. Really good. Sound is difficult to adjust in the relatively small club, so it is sometimes quite loud. But the quality of the musicians is really high, and the music catches the audience and turn the customers into a gang of rocking youngsters. Dancing everywhere, chaos pure.

Forget about the ice bar - was in there, drank a lemon-vodka mix, it's cold, the bar is made from ice - and that's it. Just a marketing gag. The band is it. Without the band this club will not exist much longer.

Yesterday was obviously a special day for the band, too. Suddenly a young Thai (male) took over the keyboard, and they started a jam session. Good improvisation, great understanding between the musicians, keyboard, guitar and bass soli - it was great. The best what I have heard in Bangkok since a very long time.

I can recommend that club for the band. It's really good entertainment.

Yes mongering is great in Thailand. But the country itself would have also a lot of possibilities if they society would get their act together. I still love this country for the warmth and friendliness of his people. Yes they are always bad apples. But I do not find Thailand as bad as other asian countries.

But please if we want to have serious discussion. A situation of a country doesn't define itself by the situation of its mongering possibilities. In this I can only support NicFrenchy and NicFrenchy. About the comment about your own country. Well I can feel for you I feel the same about my country although I still find yours better. I have grown up at 10km of the border of your country.

Rick’s Bar, the Grand Prix, was the very first go-go in Bangkok, and the seed that started Patpong and go-go dancing in Thailand.

Having been a frequent patron at Grand Prix, the only sport I ever witnesses was….what it still is.

Other big name visitors had included Mr and Mrs Walter Cronkite, Bob Hope, Tennessee Williams and actor Willem Dafoe.

Menard, who was a great boxing fan, retired from owning and managing the Grand Prix in April 1991 and moved to Las Vegas where his two daughters, then seven and nine years old, could get good schooling.

Geez. And, I'M the one always accused of generalizations and being negative...Talk about a limited, cynical view.


If you're referring to me in the above post...

While what you say is usually a reason for break-ups in relationships that originated in P4P, you've got it wrong, in this case.

I was never a sugar-daddy. Her family has money and are paying the whole lot (about $11,000 US, by my calculation) for her to go to the US to study. She has never asked me for much of anything in the 3 years we've lived together. She could have done a lot better than me, both in terms of looks and youth, as well as money. We're not talking about some Isaan farmgirl with limited options. We're talking about someone, quite attractive, from a good family, in a position to have a considerable amount of choice in terms of men of quality. She also doesn't actually want to break up with me. She asked me to wait 6 months until she returns from the program she's enrolled in. It's me that told her I wouldn't wait and I ended it.

But, I'm not interested in elaborating further, as a way to convince anyone.
