Planning to book my first trip down to Colombia. I would love some info on what city and what to do. I have enjoyed using agencies in the DR and am hoping for either a package or some can't miss places. Thoughts?

I'm also planning my first Colombia trip, but I have made an attempt to RTFF first. At least 50 pages of trip reports and 100 pages here. Hahaha.
I spent a few weeks in Thailand a couple years ago, and am familiar with the local game on my home turf. I took a year of college Spanish, but that was 25 years ago. I can generally read and write, but fast talking and funky tenses will trip me up. Taking a 10 week online class right now, hopefully that will refresh me enough.
Shout out to JjBee62 for the super informative post on finding Facebook girls! Once I found a good starting point the list of FB girls seems to be never-ending!

My flight is already booked, I'll be there the month of October plus a couple days on each side. It sounds like that might be "rainy season", but I'm coming from the PNW so warm rain will be a step up.
I have an AirBnB booked in Medellin the whole time and plan to take some shortish trips to Bogota and probably Cartagena or Santa Marta area.
So, my questions.
While out doing day time touristy stuff, would it be unwise to use my Galaxy S10 for pictures, or would I be less likely to be mugged for a simple point and shoot digital camera? I have an older phone I planned to use if going out in the evening.
Can I just walk in to the bar at The Mansion? Or is it guests only? Would it be worthwhile as a first timer to book a night or two there even though I already have an AirBnB for the month?

Is this considered Laureles? Is the neighborhood safe-ish at night? Is the part of Carrera 70 that is nearby good for nightlife / bars?

Usually, during rainy season, it's raining off and on, not the constant 4 months of drizzle in the PNW. A folding umbrella is a good idea.
Stay aware of your surroundings, make sure nobody is paying too much attention to you and be discreet. That's the way I use my phone to take pictures. Take a couple shots and then put it away.
There's a 50 k cover charge for non-guests at the Mansion bar, it's more for special events like the Halloween party. If you stay there a couple of days it might be useful to you, but it's not necessary.
That's the Laureles area. I consider it safe to walk around. The La 70 bars and clubs will be a short walk away. There are also lots of food options nearby.
Halloween is a very big deal in Medellin.

The only phone I have is a Note 20 and I was out in the hood yesterday in Bogota using it and taking pictures with it. I don't think people notice you have a certain model phone and decide to rob you for that. I think they just decide to rob you and make off with whatever you have. Whether you have a Motorola Brick or an iPhone 12, if they are looking to get you then they are going to get you.

Thanks![/QUOTE]Yep, it is Laureles. La setenta (70) is near. Depending on Covid restrictions there may be bars open, but it is not really a mongering area. And the nightlife is very much local in nature Safe at night? I've stayed in the area a few times and it doesn't feel 100% safe. But that is subjective at best.

I just got back from a great week in Mexico with a great Colombian woman, highly recommended others do likewise now that Colombia is in lockdown.
But there were a few issues:
One was there did not seem to be any of the white powder stuff as readily available in Mexico as in Colombia. That was an issue, and I finally solved it by taking her to an Italian restaurant and spreading lines of Parmesan cheese on the table cloth. It worked. She snorted it up and was happy.
Well, it worked until I learned she was lactose intolerant.
Maybe you know that for many Colombian men their first partner is not a woman but a donkey, so I was a little surprised when we started talking about education.
In sixth grade, her classes were body disposal, maximizing cocaine yields, and weapons maintenance.
Then the classes split up and the women had one class: how to look hotter than his donkey. They graded that class on a curve.
I guess the Colombian men are a little beholden to their mothers because their class was: how to separate from mommy in 5 minute intervals.
Speaking of donkeys, we got in a bad fight. I told her that if I switched my religion to Islam, I could have four wives, and she would be one of them. It was a terrible fight, but we finally compromised. If I become a Muslim, I get two wives and two donkeys.
She was kind of upset the last part of our week. I thought it might be PMS, but finally she told me the truth. "It has been almost a week, and I have not shot at anyone."
So being the supportive guy that I am, I will line up some Venezuelans in Bogota for her as target practice.
I plan on using a dirty used car as bait.
I tried to help her when we were in Mexico. I even asked the restaurant manager if he had any spare Hondurans to use as targets, and he said, "No, since Biden was elected, they had all gone to the USA."

It's no longer good enough to have a Covid test within three days of arrival, now you must submit a form attesting to the fact you have had the test. If you do not do it online then they will give you one at the airport to fill out and turn in.

I can't find anything. Copa has a link to a form that you can submit online. Jet Blue and Spirit have links to the form to be printed, but no online submission. I did not check other airlines. Yesterday, Copa did not have any printed form to fill out, only an online form.
It seems like Medellin is not at its safest right now in a couple of ways. Virus / crime. Does anyone know how Barranquilla compares to Medellin these days in terms of safety-like if I walk to a casa from my hotel in Barranquilla compared to walking the streets of Medellin? Or just walking around in general? I don't carry a cell phone with me- but I may have a little casa cash in the underwear, front pockets and socks. LOL. Also, If I bring a chica to my room like from Tinder--is the scopalamine risk (yes I can mitigate it) or crime risk (yes I can mitigate it) any different--or putas are putas all the same everywhere? I never felt at risk of theft from my Thai girls back in those days of Asia travel.
I can go to Barranquilla in a few days. I am not sure if I am also going to go to Medellin. Obviously, more female option in MDE. Including a stable I already have. But, I am thinking of just staying in Barranquilla and trying to create a stable there as well, if the city is safer overall--both in terms of Covid risk and crime risk. Does anyone have any insight as to how they compare? I know MDE really well, but have only spent 1 weekend in Barranquilla in this life.

Maybe because I have Global Entry?
