Relato is the #2 least expensive restaurant on the carrera 33 strip. El Tabun is the cheapest. El Botanico in my experience is the most popular for punters on dinner dates. Every spot along the strip has a good representation of punters wining and dining prepagos.
On a related note, I walked from an early dinner in Provenza down 10th Street to pick up some stuff at Carulla. I was struck by the presence of a scantily clad (Botero Plaza style) street walker standing on the north curb of 10th Street doing everything sort of waving down cars and pedestrians to get a date. I wonder if that will change when Lleras is back.

I learned something new today. As I expected (since it's happened before) the Plaza Botero security fence is now all gone. What I didn't realize is both this latest time and the last time barriers were installed around the plaza the fencing was stolen during nighttime hours. The local conservative newspaper has a major hard on for the progressive mayor of Medellin. It misses no opportunity to call him out and embarrass him. The newspaper gets a lot of help from the mayor himself. That fence cost a lot of money. To add insult to injury the police were able to reclaim some of the stolen metal in hardware stores around Prado where it was being sold as scrap. Today's article was illustrated by a photo of a street person fast asleep in the middle of the fountain near the Nutibara side of the plaza.
Last night I was sat in a bar, watching the world go by in Plaza Botero.
The sun was setting and many people were on their way home. There were tourists posing for photos with the statues, business people out for a bite to eat, locals out for a drink with friends, families with their children, students on their way home from college, lovers holding hands and laughing with each other. I saw children zoom past on their skateboards, vagrants collecting plastic or paper to sell as scrap, women begging for money with a baby strapped over a shoulder, homeless people passed out in a stupefied daze, girls of all colours, shapes and sizes, some waving me over, and no doubt some shady looking guys in the clone-Manrique outfits.
It struck me that El Centro is the centre of diversity in Medellin. You won't see such a melting point of ambitions together in one place anywhere else in Medellin.
