Only thing more absurd than absurd price quotes is negotiating with a WG
Through negotiating, you give them a sense of uniqueness / individual value.
My responses are limited to "Let's go" or "Please forgive my poverty". If the going rate in my head is 2000, I'll bite a 2500 offer. I will refuse a 4000 offer flatly and not entertain further negotiations, even if she eventually offers 2000 by herself.
It is a commodity market and long winding negotiations are unbecoming. You can negotiate while buying a Picasso, not a bag of rice.
Great analysis. This scenario gets even worse when the Kia and Suzuki vendors see what the Toyota sellers are getting. And then you have rental companies like Hertz and Avis and assorted sellers of "total loss"/ salvaged wheels in the picture.

Understanding Price Discovery
I totally agree with HT. It's basic free market economics at its finest. In a free market such as this, there is no right or wrong price. The actual price that the deal gets done at is the "right" price in a free market, all factors considered. And all factors do need to be considered for each particular buyer and seller even if they don't apply to me or you or a particular girl, such as convenience in not getting into a prolonged annoying negotiation as mentioned by HT. These factors change the actual price. The problem that so many people don't realize is that the "asking" price is not necessarily the actual market price. If someone really wants to save money then they can spend the time making the rounds and intensely negotiate with many different sellers to get the best price which would then be the market price, for them, considering the factors that are important to that particular buyer and seller. That's how free markets work and we can't argue with that or lament that one particular buyer or group of buyers messes it up for everyone or that we can somehow change that.
You are 100% correct! This is something I have been saying for many years across three different country threads (Dominican Republic, Colombia and Thailand).
Being a successful trader helps you understand markets better. Absolute price is not an indication of value. It is an indication of the current value of the asset in the market.
I have a female friend here in Thailand that told me: If a girl needs 500 THB right now, she might do short time with you for that price. Just depends.
