I am considering to go to Harbin - Yabuli with GF for some skiing this December.
Can any member here help me with the cheapest flights to and back to either Guangzhou or Shenzhen and which travel agent / airline?

Thanks, I finally bought it at China Southern Airlines Co Ltd website but had severe difficulties paying online.
Had to fax them my credit card details etc and was charged 3% for that!

I'd avoid Yabuli. Think state-run ski area, and you'll get a picture of what the resort is like. Bad hotels, bad food, not great skiing either.
I'd try some of the ski areas around Beijing (Wanlong, Jundushan, Lianhuashan), around Jinan or around Changchun.
Yabuli is actually two ski areas -- Yabuli and Windmill. Yabuli is state-run, Windmill is private. Yabuli is more of a training base for China's ski teams, the best part of the mountain is closed to tourists. Windmill is pretty small.

Yes, I found out too late after I had bought my tickets!!
Well, I shall now stay in Harbin and enjoy the exotic Russian - Chinese flavour of the place and perhaps do a day trip to Yabuli area instead.
If I had known earlier, I would have gone to Beijing instead!

I am relatively new to this forum and am going to be in Harbin for the first time Jan 6th. 8 th. Would appreciate any info /advice as to what to take as far as clothing (hear it is freezing cold), places to stay. I am considering Holiday in City center and mongering locations or would appreciate if you senior members would be kind enough to take this newbie under their wing and PM any numbers of gals that you reccomend or mongering location.
I did RTFF the forum in detail and most of the info looks dated on Harbin.
Happy to reciprocate if you interested to know of Shanghai or New York.

It’s really cold in Harbin now. The highs around.5 to.10 see (about 16-23 f), lows at night around.20 see (-5 f). But inside the shops, restaurants, etc. It’s comfortable because all buildings have good heating systems.
You’ll need a set of cotton thermals (top and bottom), a pair of wool bottoms, a thick sweater, down jacket, heavy wool socks, scarf, wool gloves and ski cap. The main shopping district is called Qiu Lin about 10 minutes walk from the train station and you can buy some there. To get there walk straight out of the train station up the big street opposite it, towards the huge roundabout with a big metal snowflake in the middle. Or you could go to Carrefour (Jia Le Fu) or Wal-Mart (Wo Er Ma). There’s a Carrefour just off the roundabout on Xi Da Zhi Jie.
If you go to the Ice and Snow World exhibit, as many tourists do this time of year, it’s extremely cold. It’s so cold that it quickly drains the batteries in your camera and cell phone, so be sure they’re fully charged and carry extra batteries.
The Holiday Inn is a good choice. It’s very centrally located, at the foot of Central Street (Zhong Yang Da Jie), the touristy but cool historic walking street. It’s also about a 5-10 minute walk to the below-mentioned Jia Ri Xiang Zu. There are many other foot massage shops on the little streets that cross Central Street, to the west.
For mongering, try the bathhouse recommended in post #37 (called Bohai Sauna or something like that), the Imperial Family Finland Baths recommended in post #38 (behind the train station) or the Jia Ri Xiang Zu (described in several posts, most recently #42). I’ve heard the Qing Ze Baths that I described in post #38 is now closed but you could probably find some action at any of the other bathhouses on the same street. Pretty much most of the bathhouses in the northeast offer "special services" (te fu). Just go in, shower and ask for a "xiaojie. " There are no BBS’s in Harbin that I’m aware of.

Don’t know of any outcall services here. A guy in the Shanghai thread had some luck by searching on the web for “Shanghai massage” in Chinese. Maybe you could try it for Harbin ( 哈尔滨按摩 ). He said it’s kind of hit and miss but it’s outcall.
The bathhouses here seem to be pretty honest. They usually have a price list posted in the lobby (although it’s in Chinese) and I don’t think they try to rip you off. I haven't had any problems being cheated. If you hit it off with one of the anmoyuans you can get her phone number and might be able to arrange an outcall session. Good luck.

Both of these places were described in post #38.
Imperial has, from what I was told by the staff, new management and new services and pricing (that I’m not too clear on). Sessions are 45 mins. but the more expensive ones are 80 mins. This is what I was told:
198: FS
298: FS, BBBJ
398: FS, BBBJ with fire-ice
898: shower with the girl, FS, BBBJ (80 mins.)
1,298: I think same as 898 yuan service but with red ropes (hong sheng) and fish net (yu wang). This is the first place in Harbin I’ve heard of with red ropes. :) Does anybody know what fish net is? :? I saw the setup. It looked like a small hammock with one wooden rail per side. This is very expensive, I know. I got red ropes FS with soapy and BBBJ in Xiamen for 360.
There’s also a 200 yuan charge for the room but the girl can waive this fee. Make it clear beforehand with her that you will only pay for the service, and not the room.
Most of the rooms are nice with a shower inside. The girl will shower with you, sometimes there’s a 38 yuan charge for this, sometimes not. I guess it depends on how slow their business is.
This place is recommended for the 198 FS. If that’s all you want, be firm with the girl because they’ll very aggressively try to upsell the other services. I haven’t tried the higher end services.
Was offered a Russian girl but I declined. Sorry, forgot to ask the price but will next time.
Qing Ze Baths has closed. I cruised up and down the street (Xuan Ching Jie) and saw about five small to medium-sized KTV bars and some foot massage places on the streets that cross Xuan Ching Jie.

SM, I’d recommend the Imperial or the Bohai Bathhouse recommended by Eddielane in post #37. It’s on the southeast corner of Hong Qi St. and Xian Feng Rd. Cat bath, AR, CBJ, FS for 300 + 25 for shower and clothes. The facilities are nice. They have Russian girls for I think 800.
